Our Worst Reviewed Movies of 2018 Include Venom, Holmes & Watson

The Will Ferrell-John C. Reilly comedy Holmes & Watson is currently sitting at a pathetic 8% on Rotten Tomatoes so that explains why it was not screened for critics before it opened in theaters Christmas Day. We weren't fans of the film either, giving it one of the lowest scores of any movie review posted in 2018, saying that its "lazy gags, wasted supporting cast and unfocused writing make the film an unfunny chore."

Sadly, Holmes & Watson wasn't the only stinker we reviewed in 2018. Let's take a look back at Holmes & Watson and all the other films released last year that were deemed to be the worst of the worst by IGN's assortment of critics.

Sean Bean is Back at the End of a Sword in Netflix’s New Period Drama

Netflix has debuted the first trailer for its new historical drama, Medici: The Magnificent, the second installment in an ongoing anthology series centered around one of Italy's most infamous political families.

The first season in the Medici saga was Medici: Masters of Florence, starring Dustin Hoffman as Giovanni di Bicci de' Medici and Game of Thrones' Richard Madden as Cosimo de' Medici. Per Netflix, the new season is set 20 years after Masters of Florence, following Cosimo de' Medici's grandson, Lorenzo (Daniel Sharman), "after an attempt on his father's life forces Lorenzo to assume leadership of the family-run bank. Once in power, Lorenzo resolves to do things differently, which swiftly brings him into conflict with the head of Florence’s other powerful banking family, Jacopo Pazzi (Sean Bean) who will stop at nothing to defeat him."

How Syfy’s Nightflyers Brings Horror to Life Through Technology

Syfy’s new space-thriller Nightflyers is now available to binge online in its entirety, and the sense of danger in the George R.R. Martin-created story permeates every scene. Earlier this year, IGN visited the set of the show, where we saw the lengths the production team have gone to in creating a practical and immersive environment, and spoke with the cast about how this effort has affected their performance.

“I got this job and I was like, ‘it’ll be a wooden spaceship and some green screen,’ and I was happy with that,” Sam Strike reveals, a broad grin across his face, “and I get here and I was like, ‘oh my word, this is insane.’”

Sam Raimi Spider-Man Suit Comes to Spider-Man on PS4

While three more suits will come as paid DLC to Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4 tomorrow, Dec. 21, all Spidey players are now able to download a free, and often requested, new suit.

Insomniac Games announced that today's update to Marvel's Spider-Man includes the Sam Raimi Spider-Man suit for free. The suit, which is dubbed the "Webbed Suit" in-game, is of course based on the Spider-Man suit first worn by Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker in 2002's landmark superhero film Spider-Man.

Fallout 76 to Get New Mode ‘Without PvP Restrictions’

Fallout 76, in Q1 2019, will be receiving a new game mode that will contain no PvP restrictions.

Announced by Bethesda, this new mode will allow players to engage in PvP combat without both players agreeing to a duel.

In the main game, if one player were to shoot/engage with another player, the damage dealt would be greatly reduced until the other player returns fire.

While this helps prevent griefing and may promote cooperative play, it took out a lot of danger that some players were looking for in the hills of Appalachia.

Netflix Denies It Read Users’ Facebook Messages

Facebook has reportedly given several tech companies greater access to users' personal data than it gave to the public, and even gave Spotify and Netflix, even though Netflix denies this, "the ability to read Facebook users' private messages."

These findings come by way of a New York Times report that said internal documents showed that Facebook offered data for its over 2.2 billion users to Microsoft, Amazon, Spotify, Netflix and more.

In addition to Spotify and Netflix being able to read Facebook users' private messages, the report also claims that Microsoft Bing could see all Facebook users' friends without their consent and Amazon could gain access to users' names and contact information through their friends.
