Nintendo Offering Cash Rewards to Improve 3DS Security

In an effort to improve the security of 3DS, Nintendo is paying hackers to provide information about vulnerabilities in its family of handheld systems.

Through HackerOne—a platform for coordinating and offering bounties for providing vulnerability and bug information—Nintendo is offering cash rewards that range between $100 to $20,000 USD for reports of 3DS vulnerabilities.

According to Nintendo's HackerOne "Bug Bounty Program" page, the company is strictly interested in receiving information tied to 3DS, with the desire to prevent various activities, including piracy, cheating, and the "dissemination of inappropriate content to children."

Hitman Holiday Update Channels Home Alone

Two thieves. One big mansion. Lots of deathtraps. One (likely sociopathic) protagonist. Yep, Hitman's Holiday content update is all a bit Home Alone.

Coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC next Tuesday, December 13, the update gives the Paris Showstopper level a Christmas makeover, and then drops in a little jeopardy.

Two thieves are trying steal a selection of presents from the mansion, and it's your job to stop them by any means necessary. A nail through the foot will probably be the least of their problems.

Apparently, those presents are for 47, as he can open them, finding that "some of the content will be handy to get the job done", according to Io Interactive. Oh, and there's a pretty strong implication that that Santa suit is straight from the source. I have a bad feeling this may be St. Nick's final chimney abseil.

Dataminers Discover Two Unused Enemies in PT

P.T. - the "playable teaser" for since-cancelled Hideo Kojima/Guillermo del Toro team-up, Silent Hills - was hiding two unused enemies in its files.

Discovered by Xentax user luxox18, the game seemingly includes five character models: Norman Reedus' protagonist, antagonist Lisa, that horrible sink-baby-thing and two unseen creatures.

One is a grey, mottled humanoid we've never previously seen, the other a warped, headless female body we previously saw in a Tokyo Game Show concept trailer (below)

Rogue One Director on Whether He’d Make More Star Wars

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story director Gareth Edwards would be interested in making another Star Wars movie, but this time about Obi-Wan Kenobi.

While doing a one-on-one interview with IGN at the Rogue One junket this weekend, Edwards was asked whether he'd consider coming back and doing a completely different Star Wars film from Rogue One. Though Edwards is open to the idea, he still wants new directors to take on the Star Wars universe.

"It's nearly impossible for me to say no, I would never ever do Star Wars ever again but I sort of feel like you know, I've won the lottery in terms of cinema," Edwards told IGN. "The most unfair thing you can do with the lottery winning is go buy more lottery tickets. It's like, you've got to let other people."

Universal Monsters Shared Universe Will Have a New Dracula

Director Alex Kurtzman confirmed to IGN and other press at a trailer launch last week for The Mummy that 2014's Dracula Untold is not part of Universal's planned shared universe based on their classic monsters. The shared universe, which Kurtzman is overseeing, will introduce a new Dracula instead. This confirmation jibes with what Dracula Untold director Gary Shore suspected when we spoke to him in 2014.

"The monster universe thing evolved later on," Shore told us at the time. "So the film doesn’t really adhere to those rules. It isn’t really tied into that. I don’t want to give away what happens in the film. It’s optional for them if they want to use it as that launching pad."
