This Japanese Game Has You Raise a Creepy Goddess on a Train
Megami Meguri has a cute atmosphere. All the women characters I saw were cheerful or transformed into small creatures, and were accompanied by bright effects when they were extra emotive. But for all of its effort, there’s a slight creepiness to the 3DS game that I couldn’t shake.
In Megami Meguri, Amaterasu, the goddess of the sun, shows up and tells you to raise your transit pass’ spirit into a goddess by teaching the artifact spirit words of your choice and putting her through weird tests to check her progress. Together you’ll travel around Japan using a board and die system, and she’ll have the opportunity to learn new things.
When you meet the spirit, Tsukumo, she can’t talk, so instead she does a lot of staring, cooing, and some babbling. Her slight movements and wide eyes actually end up being a bit creepy since she rarely blinks.
9 Mysterious Changes to Resident Evil 7’s Demo
A new trailer for Resident Evil 7 was released today, in which you can share a candlelit bowl of offal with the Bakers.
But there was also an update for the Beginning Hour, the demo released back in June.
Known as the Twilight Version, this update brings some subtle but significant changes to the demo. And yes, there's at least something you can now do with that finger.
Above the fireplace in the starting room, the original picture has been replaced with a family portrait of the Bakers.
Monster Hunter Stories Reinvents the Series Into Something New
Monster Hunter Stories, an RPG spin-off in the Capcom’s Monster Hunter action RPG-focused series, is less than a month away from release in Japan. As one of the star attractions of Capcom’s Tokyo Game Show booth, we went hands on and got a full rundown on some of the big gameplay changes that set it apart from the main Monster Hunter games. On the surface, Monster Hunter Stories is aimed at a younger audience thanks to its younger cast, but it still a deep RPG as well.
As with any Monster Hunter game, Monster Hunter Stories starts out with you building an avatar referred to as a rider. Rider live alongside the monsters of this world, using them as mounts and dependable companions in battle, which is very unlike the hunters of the Monster Hunter games. The show floor demo allowed us to choose between pre-made male and female riders, but the final game will have customizable avatars.

Someone Drove a DeLorean at 88mph… And Police Caught Him
Not many people have a DeLorean, but for those that do, it's almost guaranteed they've tried to take it to that 88mph sweet spot.
According to The Guardian, that's what 55 year old Nigel Mills was doing when he got caught by police in Essex, England on Sunday. Although he denies he was trying to go back in time.
In the 1985 film Back to the Future, Marty McFly goes back in time when he hits 88mph in Doc Brown's special DeLorean. In 2016, travelling that fast gets you a date in front of Chelmsford magistrates.
However, the case was thrown out of court when the officers who caught him speeding didn't show up. Laziness? A mistake? Or time travel shenanigans? We may never know.
Former Disney Infinity Devs Join New Studio
Former members of Avalanche Studios, the developer behind the Disney Infinity series, are part of a new Salt Lake City based studio.
The studio, castAR Salt Lake City, is the newest from "mixed-reality entertainment" castAR. President and chief operating officer Steve Parkis has "responsibility for the team" in Salt Lake.
Currently the Palo Alto, CA based castAR is "developing a mixed reality entertainment platform" using a mix of both hardware and software to "create playful, social and approachable experiences."
The addition of the former Avalanche Studios team members and the opening of castAR Salt Lake City doubles the size of the development team, something Parkis calls a "bold step" in launching its mixed-reality platform.

PS4, PC Platformer Shu Release Date Revealed
Shu, the side-scrolling platformer first announced in 2013, will release on October 4 for PlayStation 4 and PC, co- developer Coatsink announced today. The PlayStation Vita version of the game is also set to release before the end of the year.
The mix of traditional 2D platformers and endless runners features Shu as the protagonist and a group of other characters following along must race their way up a mountain while trailed by a horrific storm.
Check out a new trailer for the game below:
Shu is co-developed by Coatsink Software and Secret Lunch. IGN recorded our impressions while playing in 2013 and then went hands-on with the game again several months before the game was announced for PlayStation platforms in 2014. Shu was also originally slated to release on PS3. IGN also imagined what Shu would be like if it starred Sony’s Shuhei Yoshida.
Resident Evil Getting a CG Movie Based on the First Game
Animated movie Resident Evil: Vendetta has been announced, and it's due for release in spring 2017 in Japan.
According to Natalie (thanks Kotaku), the fully computer generated movie will have an original story, but will be "like Resident Evil 1."
Resident Evil: Vendetta was announced at the Tokyo Game Show today, and it will be produced by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, executive produced by Takashi Shimizu (director of The Grudge), and directed by Takanori Tsujimoto.
Monster Hunter to Become a Hollywood Movie
Tokyo Game Show is now in full swing, and Capcom's Ryozo Tsujimoto had some good news for Monster Hunter fans today.
According to Games Talk via Gematsu, the Capcom producer took the stage and announced a live-action Monster Hunter movie is being made in Hollywood.
There aren't many details yet, but Tsujimoto has reportedly said "while it isn’t related to
Stories, there is a Hollywood movie adaptation of the main series in progress."
Monster Hunter Stories is the next installment in the game franchise, and is due to come out in Japan on October 8. It'll put players in the shoes of a "Rider" than a "Hunter," and have a more whimsical art style.
