American Horror Story Was Right to Be Secretive about S6

After five seasons on FX, the freaky and shocking elements of American Horror Story began to have a numbing effect. The fifth season, Hotel, especially seemed guilty of delivering diminishing returns as it perhaps went too far over the edge in an attempt to make our jaws drop. And after each AHS season ended, the same "news cycle" would begin: We'd learn who'd be back (usually most everyone). We'd learn the time period and location. Then we'd tune in and watch Jessica Lange -- before she decided to leave the series after the fourth season -- lord over a collection of outcasts and oddities, occasionally grimacing at the bloodshed and overall ickiness.

In the show's sixth year, however, things changed. We learned nothing about the new season beyond the cast. Where and when would the story take place? Who would the actors be playing? The hook to get you in wasn't a hotel or an asylum or a freak show, but the mystery itself. The slew of teasers seemed to suggest that this year would involve everything under the sun - from possessed children to alien abductions. Finally, in Wednesday's premiere, audiences found out what Season 6 would be about.

Haunting New Art From Syfy’s Channel Zero: Candle Cove

Syfy is tackling annals of Internet urban legends, creepypastas, in its new anthology series Channel Zero. The first season of the series is bringing to life Kris Straub's classic Candle Cove, which follows a man trying to recall a children's TV show he watched in his youth and discovering that it's much more of a nightmare than he realized.

Channel Zero: Candle Cove premieres on October 11th, and to get viewers into the spirit of the new show, IGN is exclusively debuting some especially creepy illustrations. The art pairs dialogue from the season's scripts with some of the most terrifying imagery from the show that gives a pretty good sense of what's in store.

If you're unfamiliar with the Candle Cove story, you can read it in its entirety online. Channel Zero's first season will follow some of the ideas from that creepypasta, while expanding on the idea that the children who were watching the show mysteriously disappeared, and even more mysteriously would seemingly appear in the next episode of Candle Cove.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole will now launch in Q1 of 2017 instead of its originally scheduled December 6, 2016 release, Ubisoft announced today.

No exact new release date has been given for the game's launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

IGN had a chance to go nose-on with The Fractured But Whole at Gamescom 2016 via the Nosulus Rift, while a special edition for the game was revealed earlier this year.

AHS: The Real-World Mystery Driving Season 6

This article provides real-life context for Season 6 of American Horror Story. If you're concerned about potential spoilers, read on at your own risk.

"In 1590, on the coast of what we now know as North Carolina, the entire colony of Roanoke -- all 117 men, women, and children -- died inexplicably." - Billie Dean Howard, American Horror Story: Season 1.

The cryptic teasers for the sixth season of American Horror Story led to all sorts of speculation as to what the story would ultimately be about. Dolls? Bugs? Something Children of the Corn-ish? The prevailing assumption though was that the tale would involve the lost colony of Roanoke - one of America's earliest and most confounding mysteries.
