25 Hour Baldur’s Gate Expansion Announced
Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is getting an expansion in the form of Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear. Set between the first two Baldur's Gate games, Siege of Dragonspear was built in a modified version of the Infinity Engine that powered the classic RPG series, and is coming to Windows, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android.
In January, developer Beamdog revealed a mysterious project called Adventure Y, which would ultimately become Siege of Dragonspear. The original cast returns in this 25-hour-long adventure, which introduces the new Shaman class. Mass Effect composer Sam Hulick is creating the soundtrack.
This is What Microsoft HoloLens’ Limited Field-of-View Looks Like
As you might of heard from hands-on reports with Microsoft's augmented reality HoloLens headset, it's got quite a limited field-of-view.
While we were treated to Microsoft's (admittedly mightily impressive) Minecraft HoloLens demo at the publisher's press conference, it's hard to fathom what looking through a HoloLens headset actually feels like. Now, a new official video offers us a brief glimpse of that narrow window in a first person view - at 0:48, 0:58, 1:23, 1:38, and 1:42 timestamps.
Despite this, we were impressed with our hands-on time with the HoloLens at E3. We recently got the chance to test the Minecraft HoloLens demo for ourselves - check out our thoughts.
Mega Man Legacy Collection is How You Pay Respect to the Classics
When I first found out that Capcom’s Mega Man Legacy Collection would only include the NES games (1-6), I was a bit underwhelmed. After all, 2004’s Anniversary Collection included the first 8 games in the series. But after going hands on with this new compilation, I realized that what Capcom is doing with Legacy is an important step forward in acknowledging, preserving, and celebrating important moments in video game history.
Capcom partnered with the folks at Digital Eclipse in order to create a brand-new, modern engine that helps preserve each and every intricate detail of the original NES games, and present them in the modern era. In fact, what they’re trying to do is create a form of the Criterion Collection for video games.
See Arya Stark’s Maisie Williams in Doctor Who – Season 9
Game of Thrones actress Maisie Williams will be making her debut in Doctor Who's ninth season.
She was first spotted in a new trailer that debuted during the Doctor Who panel at Comic-Con. Executive Producer Steven Moffat spoke briefly about her character, saying "It’s going to be surprising what
gets up to, but honestly I can’t say a thing about it."
Later, when asked if he would ever want to travel with another companion, star Peter Capaldi wryly told the crowd "I think he’d like to see his granddaughter again."
It's likely this is nothing more than a playful tease on his part, but being that we haven't heard anything about the Doctor's granddaughter for a long time, Capaldi may have just slipped in a teaser for Williams' role.
Creator of The Tick Joins Powers: Season 2 Writing Team
We have some cool news coming out of the Powers panel at San Diego Comic-Con. Co-creator Brian Michael Bendis announced that Ben Edlund, creator of The Tick and writer for everything from Angel to Firefly to Supernatural's "The French Mistake," had joined the show's writing team for Season 2.
"We're like in a Wild West mentality when we're in that writers' room," Edlund said after he took to the stage alongside Bendis, co-creator Michael Avon Oeming, showrunner Rémi Aubuchon, and stars Susan Heyward and Olesya Rulin. Edlund then went on to discuss how the prospect of no rules, and figuring out a new medium in Sony's PlayStation Network, excited him. "I think that one of the things that is amazing about being on a platform like PlayStation is that we have the chance to explore almost a new medium. There's no lid. No one's saying 'you can't do it.' It's all 'how cool and weird and exciting can you make it?'"
Affleck to Reportedly Direct and Co-Write Solo Batman Movie
It was always going to happen.
Ben Affleck is reportedly going to star in, direct and co-write a standalone Batman movie for Warner Bros. and DC alongside DC's Geoff Johns.
Deadline reports that Affleck will begin the project after he completes his adaptation of Dennis Lehane's novel Live By Night.
Johns is DC Comics’ Chief Creative Officer with a number of comic credits across TV and books behind him, and an executive producer on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The site claims Affleck and Johns are "well in synch and have more than found their rhythm". It's likely they'll have a script finished before the end of the US summer, before Affleck leaves to direct Live By Night in November.
Paleontologists Discover New Dinosaur
Another relative of the Triceratops has been discovered.
Called the Wendiceratops, this dinosaur was discovered in North America and is theorized to have once inhabited southern Alberta some 79 million years ago. Like its cousin the Triceratops, Wendiceratops has a massive nose horn and a large frill on top of its skull. What makes the Wendiceratops unique, however, is that the bones on its head frill curve inward.
Paleontologists discovered the bones of four Wendiceratops near each other. Although none of these bodies were complete, enough was found to reconstruct the dinosaur's anatomy. It is named after its discoverer, Wendy Sloboda.
NoA Reportedly No Longer Publishing Devil’s Third
Devil's Third may no longer be coming to North America by way of Nintendo, if a recent report proves to be true.
According to Unseen64's Liam Robertson, Nintendo of America has decided not to publish Devil's Third due to concerns over the game's quality. Check out the video below, in which Robertson breaks down his findings.
If this rumor does in fact turn out to be true, it would then be up to developer Valhalla Game Studios to find another publisher if the game is ever to be released in North America.
Meanwhile, the title is slated for release next month in both Japan and Europe. Interestingly enough, it was completely absent from this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.
Warcraft Movie Gets Prequel Graphic Novel
Today at the Blizzard panel at SDCC, Legendary Comics announced a new Warcraft graphic novel that will serve as a prequel to the 2016 film. Warcraft: Bonds of Brotherhood is a standalone hardcover volume featuring an original story developed by Blizzard's Chris Metzen.
Warcraft Director Reveals Life-Size Orc From the Movie
Writer Paul Cornell (Doctor Who, Captain Britain and the MI:13) will script Bonds of Brotherhood based on Metzen's story, while artist Mat Broome (Batman: No Man's Land, WildC.A.T.S.) will draw the book.
Mockingjay Cast & Crew Bid Farewell to The Hunger Games
The odds were ever in Lionsgate's favor at San Diego Comic-Con this week, as the cast and crew of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2 took to the stage in Hall H on Thursday -- but not before screening a brand new video teaser featuring Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) in a stark-red variant of her Mockingjay outfit, joined by a hall full of white-clad soldiers, ready to fight. (A complete drum line was also on hand in Hall H to queue up the footage.)
Joining the panel were stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth and Willow Shields, and director Francis Lawrence and producer Nina Jacobson -- plus, extra-special guest and moderator Conan O'Brien, "and I am not in the Hunger Games films!" the late-night host announced.
