Street Fighter 5 Beta Returns Today to Europe
The Street Fighter V beta returns today to Europe.
Fighters will be able to test out the returning beta later today from 16:00 – 00:00, then again on Friday at the same time.
The plan moving forward, Capcom explains, is to perform individual, regional stress tests. Europe is up first, then at a later date, North America and Asia. Once the regional stress tests are complete, Capcom will launch the Global Beta Test, which is still set to run for five days.
Capcom goes on to note that although this time the beta should be a smoother experience, it’s still a beta, so expect problems.
No PC Pre-Load For MGS 5: The Phantom Pain
Konami has confirmed that there will be no pre-load option for players purchasing Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on PC.
In a Twitter exchange with fans, online community manager Robert Allen Peeler stated that it was "pretty common practice for PC/Steam users", but didn't have "a specific reason".
"Unfortunately PC Steam will not have a preload option," said Peeler on Twitter. "However players will be able to preload on console."
You'll be able to commence your PC download when the game goes live at midnight on September 1.
Xbox One Backwards Compatibility Could Extend to Original Xbox
Microsoft's head of Xbox has revealed making games from the company's original Xbox console playable on Xbox One is something he's actively investigating.
Taking to Twitter, Phil Spencer responded to a fan asking about the possibility of such a feature to say: "I don't think it's silly. I ask the BC team this question a lot. Need to finish 360 BC for now."
While far from a concrete promise, it certainly sounds like Microsoft is keen to see such a feature implemented at some stage in the future. With Backwards Compatibility for Xbox 360 titles due to launch to every Xbox One in November, hopefully we'll have news to share on this before too long.
GTA 5: Rockstar Editor Hits PS4 and Xbox One in Next Update
Rockstar has announced Grand Theft Auto V's movie-making feature, the Rockstar Editor, will arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the game's next patch.
A blog post on the Rockstar Newswire reveals console gamers won't have to wait much longer to get their hands on the feature, which is currently only available on PC. Though an official date has yet to be confirmed, it doesn't sound like an announcement is far off.
Rockstar Editor can be used to make anything from documents of your Los Santos shenanigans, fake movies trailers, or actual short films.
Total War: Warhammer Will be Bigger and Better than Ever Before
The idea of having a fantastical entry in the Total War series isn’t a new one. It’s been around for years, in fact, but a number of factors have conspired to keep Creative Assembly from ever truly being able to commit to such an idea. The studio’s commitment to putting out a purely historical title every three years coupled with resources always meant such a concept looked set to remain a pipe dream. Until, that is, Games Workshop came knocking back in 2012.
Sitting down with Andy Hall, lead writer for the upcoming Total War: Warhammer, it’s clear Creative Assembly isn’t taking the prospect of finally realising one of its dreams lightly. The added attention brought about by a massive license like Warhammer would daunt many but, thankfully, CA seems to be taking this in its stride. A prime example of this is in the hiring of Hall himself, who spent the last 15 years at Games Workshop writing the lore books now being used by the team as reference.
Valve, Bad Robot Team Up for Team Fortress 2 Game Mode
Valve has revealed a brand new mode for Team Fortress 2 dubbed PASS Time, which was conceived by production company Bad Robot (Star Trek Into Darkness, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, and the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens) and co-developed with Texas-based Escalation Studios.
PASS Time, which is available now in beta, combines Team Fortress 2’s competitive shooter gameplay with elements of several more traditional sports, like football, hockey, and basketball. Coordinated passing, teamwork, and solid defensive plays will reportedly be crucial if you plan on scoring more goals than your opponents. You can discover more details on the mode on the Team Fortress 2 site.
NASA Says There is No Asteroid Threatening to Hit Earth
A viral false asteroid report that claims an asteroid will impact Earth near Puerto Rico sometime between September. 15 and 28, 2015 is not true, NASA states.
"There is no scientific basis —not one shred of evidence — that an asteroid or any other celestial object will impact Earth on those dates," said Paul Chodas, manager of NASA's Near-Earth Object office at the JPL, in a statement.
The viral rumour making the rounds on various blogs and websites over the past month claim the impact will cause destruction along coastal regions of the U.S., Mexico, Central America and South America.
NASA's Near-Earth Object Observations Program says All known Potentially Hazardous Asteroids have less than a 0.01 percent chance of slamming into Earth in the next 100 years.

Nintendo’s QOL Device ‘Probably Dead,’ Says Analyst
While Nintendo has said it plans to launch its Quality of Life platform early next year, a number of analysts believe the company is quietly pushing the project aside in favor of its new focus on the mobile game market.
"I think it’s been pushed to the back burner," IDC research director Lewis Ward told Fortune. "It’s supposed to be released in the U.S. by the end of March
, but I haven’t heard anything. …
I do think Nintendo has always had an interest in ‘Blue Ocean’ markets and health care and the intersection with their hardware and their software is something they’ve viewed as an opportunity."
