Grand Theft Auto Franchise Has Shipped Over 220 Million Units

Take-Two Interactive has confirmed lifetime shipments of the Grand Theft Auto franchise have passed the 220 million mark.

The figure comes out of a shareholder outreach presentation, in which the parent company of developer Rockstar also reiterated 54 million of these were thanks to Grand Theft Auto V alone.

It's important to note the exact phrase used: '"sold-in". Sold-in means sold to retailers, as opposed to sold through, which represents the final sale to consumers.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin Talks WWE 2K16 and SummerSlam

When it was announced that the legendary "Stone Cold" Steve Austin would be on the cover of WWE 2K16, fan reaction was a bit mixed. Many felt that the ass-kicking, beer-swigging mega-star of the Attitude Era was the perfect choice while some thought the honor should have gone to a newer superstar. And while Stone Cold himself certainly sees both sides of the argument, he knows that when "you get that call from Vince to be on the cover, you don't turn it down."

Final Fantasy 14 Has Over 5 Million Registered Accounts

Square Enix has announced its MMO Final Fantasy XIV officially has over 5 million registered accounts.

The figure includes players from around the globe, including those in Europe, North America, Japan and China, while excluding anyone who has a free trial account. Final Fantasy XIV is one of the few MMOs left on the market to still charge a monthly subscription fee, which makes this all the more impressive.

Considering the MMO was written off following a disastrous launch, it's an immense achievement the game has been turned around to be so successful and something Square Enix should be proud of. We recently got a chance to talk to the man behind the redesign, Naoki Yoshida, and he didn't hold back in telling us about the difficulties faced along the way.

Where Next For First-Person Shooters?

Dum-dum-dum, another one bites the dust! That's the anthem that echoes around IGN's UK offices while Krupa, Rory and Alex play the Call of Duty: Black Ops III beta, shaking down suckers. Or, more accurately, getting their asses handed to them. Either way, Black Ops' futuristic setting is one that is now well trodden, and while the beta is undoubtedly fun and mechanically tight, where do shooters go next? A few years ago the World War II arena had been done to death, but is it now time for a return to the 1940s, or is there another untapped era we'd like to see explored? The IGN UK Podcast crew discusses.

We also put forward our wishlist for other hero characters we'd like to see in Star Wars Battlefront, and get stumped - stumped! - when trying to list 20 types of tree off the top of your heads. Trust us, it's harder than you think.
