Pokemon Go Has Reportedly Made More Than $14 Million
Pokemon Go made its official debut just last week — and since then, the augmented reality game is said to have generated more than $14 million across mobile platforms.
The application seemed to instantly top download lists on both Android and iOS devices, quickly placing itself ahead of many similar titles, including Pokemon Shuffle Mobile, Miitomo, and Ingress. Superdata Research analysts estimate Pokemon Go has earned $14.04 million just four days after launch. Pokemon Shuffle Mobile, for reference, brought in $14.03 million over its entire lifespan, which spans 509 days.

Rocket League to Get Counter-Strike-y Loot Crates
Psyonix has confirmed that its vehicular football/soccer (delete as appropriate, please don't argue) phenomenon will receive a paid loot crate system, not unlike Counter-Strike.
After an image of a crate and key leaked over the weekend, Psyonix vice president Jeremy Dunham took to Reddit to explain what the system will be, and what it's in aid of.
"Those assets are, indeed, early pieces of an upcoming system we plan on implementing to fund our esports prize pools and events," wrote Dunham. "We plan on officially announcing it next month at (or near) the RLCS Live Finals since it directly relates to that event and other events like it, but since this image came out before our official word, we wanted to clarify some things for you."
New Suicide Squad Images
Warner Bros. has released a bunch of new images from Suicide Squad. Check 'em out in the gallery below!
News around the film has ramped up in anticipation of its release next month. Director David Ayer revealed we'll see a more threatening Batman from the criminals' perspective in the film, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje talked Killer Croc, and Margot Robbie chatted Harley Quinn and Joker's 'mad love'.
Winona Ryder on Stranger Things’ Approach to the 1980s
Having dipped her toes into the world of TV with the acclaimed HBO miniseries Show Me a Hero last year, Winona Ryder takes on her first regular series role in Netflix’s Stranger Things, debuting this Friday.
Ryder stars as Joyce, a single mother of two whose life is turned upside down when her younger son, Will (Finn Wolfhard) vanishes without a trace. Soon, Joyce – along with Will’s friends, on a concurrent adventure – begin discovering some incredible events are occurring in their town, some of which are amazing to behold, some of which are quite scary.
I sat down with Ryder to discuss her role on the show, Stranger Things’ reflection of the films of the 1980s and Ryder’s empathy for her young co-stars, including Millie Brown (who plays the very powerful and mysterious “Eleven”), having begun her own career as a child actor.
Pokemon Go to Receive Bi-Weekly Updates
Now that Pokemon Go has properly launched — in certain territories, at least —Niantic Labs has no intention on leaving the game in its current state. Instead the developer plans to continually update the game.
"...We treat it as an ever-evolving game," Niantic CEO John Hanke said in an interview with Game Informer. "It’s not something that just sort of minted and then issued on launch day and not changed."
Hanke noted that this doesn't mean the game will necessarily receive major features with each update, but Niantic is committed to regularly working on and improving the game. As Hanke has previously said, he reiterates that features like trading and upgrades to PokeStops and gyms are among the plans the developer has in store.
Pokemon Go Plus Wearable Selling for Over $100 on Ebay
Nintendo's Pokemon Go Plus device, the game's $35 wearable add-on, doesn't have an official release date just yet, yet it's already commanding a high resell price on eBay.
The wearable is expected to launch in July, and it looks like it will be exceedingly tough to find one at that time. As of press time, Pokemon Go Plus is listed as no longer available on Amazon, GameStop, and the Nintendo store. Those desperate for the device will have to head to eBay, where guaranteed pre-orders are going for upward of $100.
Justice League Not Listed for WB’s Comic-Con Panel
Warner Bros. has announced its plans for San Diego Comic-Con, and while the studio will be showcasing both Wonder Woman and Suicide Squad, Justice League is not mentioned.
According to Warners' press release, Conan O'Brien will host a presentation on Saturday, July 23, that features a number of the studio's upcoming films. Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will be joined by Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Connie Nielsen at the event. Likewise, Suicide Squad's robust cast -- including Will Smith, Jared Leto, and Margot Robbie -- will be in attendance alongside director David Ayer.
While Justice League isn't listed, it's possible Warner Bros. will include something as a surprise for Comic-Con attendees. It would be odd to have two Justice League cast members there (Gadot and Ezra Miller, for Fantastic Beasts) and not show or do anything to plug the biggest DC film on their slate.
Bardem up for Frankenstein in Shared Universe
Javier Bardem may be playing one of Universal's most famous monsters--or the man who made it.
Variety reports that Bardem is "in talks to star as Frankenstein" in Universal's monster universe. The shared universe will bring together several monsters inspired by the classic movie series, but the report doesn't detail which film Bardem would first appear in. Nor does it specify whether he will play Dr. Frankenstein or Frankenstein's Monster, which is sometimes colloquially referred to simply as "Frankenstein."
