Pokemon Sun and Moon: Starter Evolutions Announced

The latest Pokemon Sun and Moon trailer has revealed the first evolution for all three starter Pokemon, and officially announced a demo coming on October 18, along with an exclusive Pokemon.

Grass-type Rowlet will evolve into "Blade Quill Pokemon", Dartrix, Fire-type Litten becomes Torracat, and Water-type Popplio becomes "Pop Star Pokemon", Brionne.

The trailer also officially announced the rumoured demo, which will reward players for trying out the game in advance with a new version of Greninja, Ash-Greninja.

Google Teases New Smartphones With a Zelda Reference

With Google's Pixel smartphone range due for an official reveal later in just a few hours, it seems someone in charge of the official livestream is a Nintendo fan, and got a little bored of the wait.

As spotted on Reddit, with 24 hours to go until the event kicks off, someone flashed this up to those watching early:

It's a pretty on-the-nose reference to the countdown timer used in weirdo N64 classic, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask - and, most likely, is nothing more than a fan showing their appreciation.

Outlast 2 Gets a Surprise Demo

Outlast 2 may have been delayed to 2017, but we've got a measure of compensation in the form of a surprise demo.

A bite-sized piece of the Southern Gothic horror popped up on the European and Australian PS Stores overnight.

The game is due for release on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Mac next year, but it's not clear at time of writing whether the demo is a PS4 exclusive, or when it might appear in North America and other territories.

It looks as though the demo is similar or identical to the slice of the game playable at PAX East this year - we'll have a full playthrough for you later today.

Westworld Premiere Ratings Tie with True Detective

Westworld's Sunday night debut drew in a reported 3.3 million viewers, making it HBO's most-watched series premiere since True Detective in 2014.

According to TV by the Numbers, the premiere's first airing likely accounted for over 2 million of those viewers, with the rest coming from its two other airings and "early viewing" on HBO Go/HBO Now. The report notes it's unclear whether or not True Detective's premiere numbers accounted for streaming data, meaning viewership for the Nic Pizzolatto-created series may have been higher.

For additional context, compared to Westworld's 3.3 million viewers, recent HBO series Vinyl and The Night Of each premiered to just over 750,000 viewers each. Game of Thrones' 2011 premiere, meanwhile, drew in 4.2 million total viewers.
