Top 20 On-Demand TV Shows of 2018 Revealed

Comcast, a cable provider to over 22 million US residents, recently revealed its most on-demand programming in 2018. While some of the top performers probably won't be a surprise to you, there are a few titles on the list that piqued our interest.

According to a report from USA Today, HBO's seminal fantasy series, Game of Thrones, is the No. 1 on-demand show of 2018. Game of Thrones is one of the most-watched dramas in the world, but there hasn't been a new episode since the season 7 finale ("The Dragon and the Wolf") aired back in August of 2017. Even after such a long hiatus, viewers are still catching up, or rewatching this juggernaut of a show.

YouTube’s Wayne Series Gets Bloody

Series creator Shawn Simmons (School of Rock), along with Deadpool screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick bring a gritty new dark comedy to YouTube Premium available to stream now.

According to YouTube, "When the titular teenage renegade’s 1978 Pontiac Trans Am is stolen from his father on his deathbed, 'Wayne' sets out with nothing but a dirt bike and his new crush Del to take back his rightful inheritance." For a closer look at Del wrecking havoc at a high school blood drive, check out our exclusive clip below:

Mark McKenna, who is best known for his performance in the Golden Globe-nominated Irish film, Sing Street, will star alongside Ciara Bravo, who plays Del. The streaming provider calls Wayne a "16-year-old Dirty Harry with a heart of gold," but the series also resembles Netflix's End of the F***ing World, which IGN calls a Bonnie and Clyde for a new generation in our review.

Top 10 Box Office Hits of 2018

It was a feast or famine year at the box office in 2018, with several records being broken at the same time as several high-profile movies managed to severely under-perform. While 2018 was the first year in history to have three movies gross more than $600 million at the domestic box office, the bottom half of the domestic top 10 is currently separated by just $11.5 million. There is still a chance, sure, that some of this year’s late-December hits could sneak into the top 10 by the end of their run, like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Aquaman and Mary Poppins Returns, but even while the bottom half could fluctuate, the top half is likely set in stone.

For this piece, we’ll be focusing on the domestic top 10 in 2018, not the worldwide charts, which almost seems moot anyway since most of the domestic top 10 is represented on the worldwide top 10 anyway, with the exception of two movies which I’ll point out later.

How the R-Rated Hellboy’s New Look Was Designed

Hellboy is coming to the big screen in a big way, with a new R-rated take on the titular hero. Starring David Harbour as the beast in red, this adaptation of Hellboy heads straight to the comics for inspiration, with creator Mike Mignola acting as consultant and executive producer on the project.

Of course, this isn't the first time Hellboy has come to the big screen, and the creative team is actively working to differentiate this version of the beloved character from Guillermo del Toro's previous films featuring Ron Perlman. IGN spoke with Academy Award-winning makeup designer Joel Harlow to discuss this new iteration of Hellboy.

"I love the Del Toro films and absolutely appreciate all the characters that were brought to life in them. It's a tough act to follow for sure, so we all made a conscious decision to not reference any of the live action versions that came before. We focused on the artwork and the comics," Harlow told IGN.
