Star Wars Creator George Lucas Named America’s Wealthiest Celebrity

Even though George Lucas hasn't directed a Star Wars film since Revenge of the Sith, he's still one of the richest people in America.

According to the latest Forbes list of the richest celebrities, Lucas is the wealthiest celebrity in America with an estimated net worth of $5.4 billion. Forbes attributes his massive net worth to the sale of Lucasfilm to Disney back in 2012 for $4.1 billion.

Right behind Lucas is fellow director and Indiana Jones collaborator Steven Spielberg, who has an estimated net worth of $3.7 billion.

Xbox in 2018: The Year in Review

The year of Xbox in 2018 has been almost Jekyll-and-Hyde-ian. Software-wise, the lack of high-quality first-party exclusives continues to be the story. But hardware and services were unrivaled, and Microsoft tripled their first-party studio portfolio.

On 2018's final episode of Unlocked, our Xbox crew talks about Microsoft's interesting year. Watch the video above to see them break down the highs and lows of Xbox's 2018.

Xbox's Exclusive Games

Xbox had the sublime Forza Horizon 4, an IGN Game of the Year nominee. Somehow, Forza Horizon 4 improved an already brilliant series, bringing changing seasons along for the ride – and doing so successfully. Visually it (again somehow) evolved again, especially if you played it on an Xbox One X. Aside from that, though (and that didn't release until October), it was an underwhelming year. Sea of Thieves released in a skeletal form in March, offering a genuinely enthralling core concept that, at launch, didn't have much meat on its bones. It has, to its credit, already received several substantial content updates. Meanwhile, State of Decay 2 dropped in May, evolving the original's unique brand of role-playing zombie-apocalypse survival, but unfortunately retaining the first game's reputation of being a shoddy technical experience.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Beats Black Ops 4 in November Sales

The November 2018 NPD report is in, and Red Dead Redemption 2 has come out on top.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was the month’s second best-selling game in the United States, swapping places with Red Dead Redemption 2 from last month. It also remains the best-selling game of the year, meaning its overall sales remain higher than Red Dead Redemption 2’s. Exact sales numbers aren’t disclosed in the NPD report, so how big the gap is remains unknown. Black Ops 4 did, however, release two weeks ahead of its closest competition.

The report did reveal that Red Dead Redemption 2 has already exceeded its predecessor’s sales by nearly 40 percent. We know the original sold over 14 million copies by 2015, meaning its sequel has likely surpassed 20 million units.

Next Generation Xbox Is Reportedly Codenamed Anaconda

The next generation family of Xbox consoles reportedly have two codenames: Anaconda and Lockhart.

As reported by Windows Central, the two separate Xbox SKUs will theoretically act like the current Xbox One S and Xbox One X do now: Lockhart is rumored to be a more affordable, baseline model that makes the technology accessible to a larger group of consumers while Anaconda is a beefed up version that will cost more for fans willing to shell out the money for more power. Both are expected to be released by holiday 2020.

While the report suggests Lockhart could be comparable to (or a bit more powerful than) the current power of the Xbox One X, Anaconda would be much more powerful, providing a “cutting-edge console gaming experience.” Rumors also indicate that Microsoft is “exploring technology to dramatically reduce loading times,” possibly including a faster SSD hard drive. The Anaconda could also potentially act as a dev kit.
