Pokemon Teases Giant ‘Dynamax’ Cards for Sword and Shield Expansion
A new teaser trailer for new Pokemon cards debuted at the Pokemon World Championships 2019 in Washington, D.C., giving players their first look at what to expect from the new Sword and Shield expansion -- and it looks like something big is coming.
The trailer showed off “Pokemon V” as a new card type, although no details were given beyond the name and that Gen 8 legendaries Zacian and Zamazenta will have a Pokemon V card.
Their attacks were shown but other attributes like Energy cost, Resistance, Weakness and Retreat Cost were missing, as is typical for this kind of preview. Text at the bottom of the card reveals that Pokemon V will essentially be the successor to Pokemon GX -- powerful cards that give up two Prizes when knocked out.
Pokemon Sword and Shield Trailer Reveals Epic New Abilities and More
A brand new Pokemon Sword and Shield trailer has been released and focuses on some epic new competitive abilities, moves, items, and much more that Pokémon Trainers around the world will be able to utilize when the newest Pokémon titles arrive on the Nintendo Switch later this year.
The first new ability revealed is Galarian Weezing's Neutralizing Gas that cancels the effects of other Pokémon's abilities and can even stop them from being triggered. For example, the gas will prevent Gastrodon's Storm Drain ability from absorbing Water-type moves, and Rotom's Levitate no longer protects it from Ground-type moves.
Some Pokémon, including Corviknight, have rare abilities known as Hidden Abilities. In Pokémon Sword and Shield, Pokémon caught in Max Raid Battles may have these abilities, such as Corviknight's Mirror Armor, which will "bounce back any stat-lowering effects from an opposing Pokémon’s Abilities or moves."
