Bugsnax Gets The Isle of Bigsnax Update Early Next Year – State of Play October 2021

During today's State of Play presentation, Young Horses announced that their goofy 2020 adventure about creatures that are kinda bug, kinda snack, is getting a major update early next year entitled The Isle of Bigsnax.

The Isle of Bigsnax, as the title indicates, seems to be a new area where the bugsnax from the main game are much, much larger. It takes place on a new island that's emerged from the bottom of the ocean, which several grumpuses from the main game -- Chandlo, Floofty, Triffany, and Shelda, specifically -- adventure to in order to explore its secrets. You'll get a new tool that allows you to shrink really big bugsnax down to a size that you can catch them at, and there will be a dozen brand new bugsnax to catch and snack on.

Returning to reprise their roles with new dialogue and character development are voice actors Yuri Lowenthal, Casey Mongillo, Debra Wilson, and Haviland Stillwell, as well as other returning characters "including one you might not expect" according to creative director Kevin Zuhn.

Other elements being incorporated in the update include the ability to put hats on bugsnax and customize your house with decor that comes in the mail by completing certain challenges.

The update is described as a "free, substantial update" and is planned for an unspecified date in early 2022 for PS5, PS4, and PC. Those who have finished the game can reload their save once it comes out and be dropped right before the end of the game to access the content, while new players will discover it organically.

If you haven't yet talked about Bugsnax, we rather enjoyed the puzzle-filled adventure's charm, mystery, and surprising emotional depth. And if you're already aware of its intriguing ending, you might be surprised to learn that its original ending was even darker -- and also included a tower defense mechanic.

Rick Could Fight Batman In Leaked WB Multiverse Fighting Game

Characters from Rick and Morty, The Justice League, Scooby-Doo, and more could soon be facing off in a Smash Bros.-like brawler, if a series of leaks are to be believed.

Right now on Twitter, an image is circulating showing the alleged roster for a Warner Bros. crossover game people are calling Warner Bros. Multiverse. The picture shows 13 character icons, including characters from many recognizable movies and shows.

Here's the list of every character shown:

  • Steven Universe
  • Batman
  • Harley Quinn
  • Finn (Adventure Time)
  • Jake (Adventure Time)
  • Shaggy (Scooby-Doo)
  • Superman
  • Wonder Woman
  • Gandalf
  • Rick
  • Bugs Bunny
  • Tom & Jerry

There's also an unknown character in the top left of the roster. Each character has a symbol attached to them. The symbols include a fist, a projectile, a sword, a shield, and a symbol that looks like wings. These could represent different class types, similar to the Mii Brawler, Swordfighter, and Gunner types seen in Super Smash Bros.

The game was originally leaked late last week on r/GamingLeaksAndRumors, accompanied by a recent trademark for the name 'Multiversus'. GamesBeat's Jeff Grubb said the WB platform fighter is real, but that it is not being developed by Mortal Kombat and Injustice studio Netherrealm, as some had been led to believe.

In a video on Giant Bomb, Grubb also shared some details about Warner Bros. Multiversus. The video has since been taken down, but industry insider Nibel summed up Grubb's thoughts, who said a source told him the game "looks cheap", it could be free-to-play with future characters sold as DLC, and the first DLC fighter could be LeBron James, thanks to his role in Space Jam: A New Legacy.

Other properties owned by Warner Bros. include Mad Max, Rocky, Harry Potter, Godzilla, and more. If the game turns out to be official, these properties would potentially be able to join the game.

It's an interesting time for the platform fighting game genre. Content updates for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate just came to an end with the addition of Sora from Kingdom Hearts. Meanwhile, other platform fighters inspired by Smash Bros. are starting to fill the void, including the recently-released Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl. If this leak turns out to be true, this will be yet another crossover fighter for Smash-like fans to look forward to.

The Raid’s Iko Uwais Will Play the Villain in The Expendables 4

Deadline reports that Iko Uwais has joined the cast of The Expendables 4 as the film's primary villain.

While the film's release date has not been announced, the fourth entry in the series that unites the biggest action stars of the '80s, '90s and 2000s was confirmed in August. Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham will lead the ensemble cast of elite mercenaries, which also includes Megan Fox, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson and Tony Jaa.

While not much is known about the new film's plot, Uwais will be playing an ex-military arms dealer who has assembled his own army. The Indonesian actor and martial artist first gained fame by starring in The Raid and has since appeared in Netflix's Wu Assassins, the G.I. Joe spinoff Snake Eyes and the action comedy Stuber. He is also attached to star in The Bellhop, which is being developed by Stallone's new production company, Balboa Prods.

The last Expendables movie was released in 2014 to disappointing ticket sales, but Stallone has been making it clear since 2018 that he wanted to return to the franchise.

The Expendables 4 will be directed by stuntman Scott Waugh with a script from Spenser Cohen, who co-wrote the Netflix disaster flick Moonfall, which releases on February 4, 2022.

Spider-Man: No Way Home: Two More Classic Villains Confirmed to Return

Marvel has been teasing multiple villains for Spider-Man: No Way Home since the first official trailer for the movie back in August.

Now, thanks to the latest issue of Empire Magazine, we've learned that two more classic Spider-Man villains are joining the roster to face off against Tom Holland's Spider-Man.

This is your friendly neighborhood spoiler warning. If you want to know nothing about Spider-Man: No Way Home, turn back now.

According to the magazine, Rhys Ifans' Lizard (Dr. Curt Connors) from The Amazing Spider-Man, as well as Thomas Haden Church's Sandman (Flint Marko) from Spider-Man 3 will be joining the growing list of villains in No Way Home.

Images of the magazine posted on Twitter mention the two actors.

And, Empire Magazine posted the subscriber cover for the No Way Home issue, which teases Sandman in the bottom right of the cover.

The original No Way Home trailer confirmed Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man 2, while also including teases to Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin and Jamie Foxx’s Electro — who was already confirmed to return.

There have also been rumors that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are reprising their roles as Spider-Man as well, though Garfield has only denied those rumors, saying, "this is not something I'm aware I am involved in."

And if all these rumors weren't enough for you, there's also the Venom 2 post-credits scene that shows Venom and Eddie Brock transported to what appears to be the same Earth as Holland's Peter Parker. It remains to be seen if they'll be a part of No Way Home also.

In addition to today's news, we also got a fresh look at Doc Ock fighting Spider-Man, which caused Doc Ock to trend on Twitter.

Holland says the cast and crew are treating No Way Home as the "end of a franchise," and it certainly seems like they are going out with a bang. Holland will star alongside Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon also returning as MJ and Ned. No Way Home is set to hit theaters on December 17.

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead Sequel Is Called Planet of the Dead

Zack Snyder has revealed that his Army of the Dead sequel is officially titled Planet of the Dead — and that one character may make an unexpected return in the film.

Army of the Dead ended with very few main characters having survived the Las Vegas mission, however, Snyder recently spoke to Inverse about the sequel, now titled Planet of the Dead, and hinted that one character might have some life left in him yet as he teased the potential return of Matthias Schweighöfer's Ludwig Dieter.

"The real adventure would be to see what happened to [Dieter] when that safe door closed. Did he get killed by Zeus or not? What happened?" Snyder quizzed. "We don't see him die on camera, and there's still some time left. I won't tell you what happens in Army of the Dead 2 — aka Planet of the Dead but let's just say that there's a chance Dieter survives. And there's a chance that brush with death would have caused him to want to find a jailed Gwendoline."

Before the sequel arrives, Schweighöfer's character is set to appear in Netflix's Army of Thieves, a prequel that will see him joining a misfit crew of aspiring thieves as they attempt to crack three legendary safes across Europe. The movie will no doubt give audiences plenty to chew on and spit out in terms of theories, similar to Army of the Dead's time loop debate.

"I'm a huge fan of this mythological understory," Snyder recently told GamesRadar, touching on whether the time loop may come up again in the sequel. "All your time loop fun that you can have, there's a lot of cool enhancements that are baked in now. I can't wait to make the sequel to Army of the Dead, so that we can see how then all of those things manifest."

Army of Thieves will breakout onto Netflix this October 29. The movie may not have any zombies in sight but there will be plenty of stealing. Check out this exclusive heist scene from the zombie-less prequel before reading our review of the movie, which we called a treat for anyone looking for "a piece of disposable entertainment" in the multi-pronged franchise.
