Denis Leary Talks About What Could Have Been in Spider-Man 3
The Amazing Spider-Man 3 could have featured the return of dead characters, Denis Leary said in an interview.
Speaking with us during San Diego Comic Con, Leary said there was a story discussion at one point to include a formula Spider-Man could have taken to "regenerate the people in his life that had died."
This would have meant the return of Captain Stacy, who would have come back "even bigger" in The Amazing Spider-Man 3. "I was like, let's go!" Leary said.
The actor expressed disappointment that there would be no third film in the Sony movie series, jokingly attributing part of his disappointment to being "totally selfish and greedy," but more seriously lamenting the lost opportunity to work with the same cast and series director Marc Webb.
Marvel Has Plans for Future Console Games
Mobile continues to be a massive market for Marvel games, but it may not be too long before they find their way to consoles.
Polygon reports a fan at the Marvel Games panel during San Diego Comi-Con 2015 asked about any future plans of console games.
"We are very much focused on what our console strategy will be for the future," said Mike Jones, producer at Marvel Games. "Obviously console games take a lot longer to incubate, so that will be a slower process for us.
"We are very much taking a controlled, less-is-more, quality-focused, developer-focused strategy,"Jones said. "But it is very top of mind, and we'll have a lot more announcements probably next year."
Person of Interest to “Drop the Mic” with Season 5
At the Person of Interest Comic-Con panel, creator/executive producer Jonathan Nolan spoke to the packed room of fans on hand and addressed some of the concerns many have about POI's reduced episode order (and push to midseason) for Season 5.
“We’re going to make 13 kickass episodes, and drop the microphone,” Nolan said.
Since it's impossible to know this early on if the show's to return for a Season 6, Nolan couldn't make and solid claims about POI's future, but said "I can't predict down the road but we’re very proud of the show and if it’s the last season, no one is going to be disappointed with the story we tell."
Some more tidbits for Season 5? After witnessing the "Correction" in the Season 4 finale, Fusco will finally start asking questions, wanting to know some of the hard details about all the people he's been saving and the forces that are at work behind the scenes. Also, Root and Harold will be tasked with rebuilding the Machine. But will Harold choose to remake it the same way or will there be adjustments? It may even be a bit more like a warrior this time around. Hmmm.
Flash and Aquaman Get Earth One Graphic Novels
Today at Comic-Con, Jim Lee and Dan Didio announced during their "DC Entertainment: Meet the Co-Publishers" panel that both Flash and Aquaman will be getting Earth One graphic novels in 2016.
Flash: Earth One will be written by J. Michael Straczynski, who actually revealed the news last night during his panel. An artist has yet to be named. JMS previously wrote the three Superman: Earth One graphic novels.
Francis Manapul will be writing and illustrating Aquaman: Earth One. Suddenly Manapul's departure from Detective Comics earlier this month makes a lot more sense.
With The Flash TV show being a big hit and both Aquaman and he slated to appear in Justice League: Part 1 and 2 as well as their own solo movies, it's little wonder why they were the next in line to get the realistic, modernized Earth One treatment.
Image Teases New Pokemon in Upcoming Pokemon The Movie XY
Promo images suggest a new Pokemon will make an appearance in the upcoming third Pokemon X/Y movie.
Released in the Japanese manga magazine CoroCoro (via Serebii), the one image in question features a large silhouette of a yet-unknown Pokemon. Nothing has been confirmed, but speculation suggests this new Pokemon could eventually appear in a future game.
This image is featured in the trailer for the new movie set to release in Japan early 2016. In the meantime, a new Pokemon film called Hoopa and the Clash of Ages will air in the United States on Cartoon Network this year. More details about the upcoming third movie are expected to release soon.
MGS Voice Actor Confirms Closure of Kojima Productions
The Japanese voice actor for Solid Snake, Akio Otsuka, has confirmed the closure of Kojima Productions.
"Kojima Productions was forced to disband, but it appears that the work that the team has been putting their utmost effort into is nearly complete," Otsuka said in a post on Twitter (via Gematsu).
"I’m not exaggerating when I say that I expect it will become their greatest masterpiece. I couldn’t help it. I just wanted to say 'Kept you waiting, huh?' (Laughs.) But even if this is the end, Metal Gear Solid is immortal!"
How the New Muppets TV Series is Like 30 Rock
The creators behind the ABC's new Muppets series - which premieres Tuesday, September 22nd - appeared before fans at San Diego Comic-Con and shared some really cool details about the show.
Co-creator Bill Prady (The Big Bang Theory), with EPs Bob Kushell and Randall Einhorn, shared the stage with Kermit (Steve Whitmire), Miss Piggy, Fozzie the Bear (Eric Jacobson, both), Rowlf, Pepe (Bill Barretta, both), and Rizzo Rat (Dave Goelz). Together they explained what the new mockumentary-style take on the show was. In the same vein of The Office and The Larry Sanders Show, The Muppets will take us into the professional and personal lives of the Muppets as they themselves all work on a TV show (giving everything a 30 Rock vibe as well).
How Faithful Will Syfy’s Childhood’s End Be to the Book?
No war. No disease. If a powerful entity came to Earth and solved all of its problems, what would be the long term cost? These are questions that Childhood's End, written by Arthur C. Clarke (2001: A Space Odyssey), has been posing since it was published in 1953. Adapted for the screen by Matthew Graham (Life On Mars) and directed by Nick Hurran (Doctor Who), the three-part SyFy miniseries seeks to bring one of Clarke's challenging works to the screen.
Can utopia be that bad? Hurran points to a line in the book that says, "The only enemy of utopia is boredom." Actress Daisy Betts, who plays the girlfriend of the man chosen to be the human spokesman for alien overlord Karellan pointed out that no two people's idea of utopia would be the same, once you got past big details like ending suffering.
Colony: Trailer for the New Josh Holloway Series
Carlton Cuse (Lost, The Strain) and Ryan Condal (Hercules) brought the first eleven minutes of their new USA drama Colony to Comic-Con. The series stars Josh Holloway (Lost) -- teaming up again with Cuse -- and Sarah Wayne Callies (The Walking Dead) as parents who find themselves living in Los Angeles under a mysterious invading force. When "The Arrival" happened, they were separated from one of their three children, and Holloway goes to great lengths in the series pilot to try to find him.
In addition to the SDCC-exclusive footage, a trailer for the show was debuted.
Just exactly who (or what) the invaders are, and what their motives are, are meant to be mysteries that will unfold as the series progresses (though it was heavily implied by the cast that they're aliens). There is no explanation given upfront to the audience about what happened to bring the characters to the point we find them. Cuse did divulge that Holloway's character is a former FBI agent who is asked to collaborate with the new regime. This brings up a moral conflict about whether to do what's best for his family in the short run, or what's best for them (and America? Humanity?) in the long run. Cuse also announced upcoming guest turns by Kathy Baker (Picket Fences) and Carl Weathers (Rocky).
The Man in the High Castle imagines America lost WWII
Based on Philip K. Dick's classic novel, The Man in the High Castle tells an alternate history of America, one in which Germany and Japan share control of the land after defeating the nation in World War II. Set in 1962, the former Americans find themselves in the middle of a deepening Cold War between their two conquerors.
The series, which bounced from BBC to Syfy before finding its home on Amazon, is executive produced by Ridley Scott and Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files). The project is a labor of love for Spotnitz, who read the book in college and found that it forever changed the way he thought about the world we live in, and the freedoms we often take for granted.
Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa (Mortal Kombat) praised the project for the depth of Japanese characters portrayed by himself and other actors. He stated that it is a rare chance for him to play a "good guy." Rufus Sewell (Dark City) relished the idea of playing a Nazi who is "humanized", as it shows that its human beings who are capable of genocide, not monsters whom we can't relate to.
