Nintendo Confirms Shovel Knight Amiibo

At its pre-PAX Nindies at Night event in Seattle tonight, Nintendo confirmed the existence of the long-rumored Shovel Knight amiibo.

For the Wii U version of Shovel Knight, the amiibo will unlock an exclusive co-op mode, making it the only version of the game that supports two players for the entire game. On Wii U as well as 3DS, the amiibo will unlock exclusive challenge modes not available on other platforms as well as customization options (changing the look and color of your Shovel Knight) that can be saved to the amiibo.

Beyond that, the details from the leak earlier today were also confirmed -- the figure will work with the Wii U and 3DS versions of Shovel Knight as well as all future games developed by Yacht Club on Nintendo platforms. Nintendo confirmed it will not work with first-party games at this time, but the feature is under consideration.

Amazon Developing Galaxy Quest Series With Original Creators

The 1999 film Galaxy Quest may soon join the likes of Minority Report, Limitless, and Rush Hour as the newest film-to-TV adaptation.

EW reports Amazon Studios is working with Paramount Television, original director Dean Parisot, co-writer Robert Gordon, and executive producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein to make Galaxy Quest series.

The original film was a comedy centered on the actors of a Star Trek-like show who were mistaken for an actual crew by aliens and called upon for help. Its cast was comprised of several well-known actors, including Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, and Sam Rockwell. Whether or not the original cast would return for the series remains unknown.

Doctor Strange: Mads Reportedly Up for Villain Role

Hannibal star Mads Mikkelsen is reportedly in "early talks" to play the villain in Marvel's Doctor Strange movie.

Variety doesn't specify which character that is, though it should be pointed out that Chiwetel Ejiofor has already been cast as the Sorcerer Supreme's friend-turned-enemy Baron Mordo.

Some possible Strange villains that spring to mind include Dormammu, Blackout, Nightmare, D'Spayre, and perhaps Mephisto.

Hannibal Finale Photo Preview

As much as we wish it weren't so, Hannibal is airing its season finale this week... and what, at least currently, must be seen as the series finale as well, considering no outlet was found to rescue the series after NBC cancelled it. We've heard that there is still always the possibility Hannibal could return down the line, perhaps for a finale movie or short season, in the manner of Sherlock, but with no distributor connected to the show, it's all speculative.

For now though, Season 3 and the big Red Dragon storyline are wrapping up with the pointedly titled "The Wrath of the Lamb." Last week, Will came up with an audacious plan to draw in Francis Dolarhyde that backfired spectacularly for Frederic Chilton - or was it something Will darkly hoped would happen? Now, Will is going to try one last plan, this one involving Hannibal himself.
