Pilot The Millennium Falcon in Google Street View
You can now explore Google Street View with famous Star Wars spacecrafts.
Thanks to a fan made mod, discovered by Popular Science, you can pilot the Millennium Falcon, Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing, or even Darth Vader’s TIE Fighter and explore all that Google's famous panoramas have to offer.
Taking the helm of Han Solo’s ship will drop you in London. Piloting the X-Wing will start you in Times Square. And if you want to explore your inner dark side, picking Vader's TIE Fighter will place you in Brussels. The best part? John Williams' famous score plays over it all.
Disney Hasn’t Forgotten About Star Wars 1313
Star Wars 1313 may not be entirely dead after all, according to Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy.
This ray of hope comes from SlashFilm, which recently interviewed Kennedy on topics including the once announced live-action Star Wars TV series. Kennedy brought up 1313 in passing, which prompted the interviewer to ask about the seemingly abandoned third-person action game.
"So our attitude is, we don’t want to throw any of that stuff away," Kennedy said. "It’s gold. And it’s something we’re spending a lot of time looking at, pouring through, discussing, and we may very well develop those things further."
Persona 5 Director on How P5 Is Different From Prior Entries
Persona 5 will be taking the series in a new narrative direction, thanks to a proactive cast of characters that thrusts themselves into the action.
In an interview with Game Informer, director Katsura Hashino discussed how Persona 5 will distinguish itself from prior entries in the series. "The story takes a different spin," he said. "Rather than getting drawn into a strange case, the team throws themselves into the fray. Through their actions, they draw the attention of an even greater enemy... That's how the game sets in motion."
ARK: Survival Evolved Xbox One Footage and Early Access Details
The dinosaur-hunting open-world survival epic ARK: Survival Evolved has gotten off to a fast start. For many of its 2.4 million Early Access customers on PC, it is the dinosaur game they've been wanting their whole lives (see our epic two-hour first-time playthrough below). ARK was also announced for consoles (console and PC final versions are due out in June 2016), but on Xbox One it's getting the Early Access treatment very soon thanks to the Xbox Game Preview program announced at E3 earlier this year. The XGP edition of the game will be available on December 16 for $34.99. We spoke with Jess Rapczak, co-founder and co-creative director at Studio Wildcard, about ARK on Xbox One.
Another Shocker for Bruce Wayne in Batman #47
You'd think building a new status quo where Jim Gordon is Batman and Bruce Wayne is an amnesiac would be enough for Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, but they continue to push the series in unexpected directions with the "Superheavy" storyline.
Warning: this article contains spoilers for Batman #47!
As if Bruce's marriage proposal in issue #46 weren't enough, Snyder and Capullo followed up that big twist with several more. Gordon confronted the mysterious Mr. Bloom in this issue, even being forced to battle his own armored suit before finally taking the villain into custody. But it wasn't long before he discovered that Mr. Bloom is a bigger threat than just one man.
Russo on Spider-Man’s Suit in Civil War
Tom Holland will make his MCU debut as Spider-Man next year in Captain America: Civil War, and director Anthony Russo has shared a few details about the web-slinger's new suit.
In a translated interview with Super Interessante (via Den of Geek), Russo was asked about Holland's costume, to which he replied: "Well, we did a lot of research and experimented with the looks of each character. We went through the same process with Spider-Man."
Cortana Officially Launches on Android, iOS
After spending quite some time in beta, Microsoft has officially launched its Cortana digital assistant on both Android and iOS, as well as certain Cyanogen OS powered devices like the OnePlus One.
As with the previous releases, Cortana users will be able to set reminders, track things like packages and flights, provide notifications for missed calls and more. If you've used Siri or Google Now in the past, or any of the aforementioned beta releases, this version of Cortana shouldn't be too different.
Doctor Doom Does His Best Mortal Kombat Fatality
Today's penultimate chapter of Secret Wars (by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic) saw armies wage war at Doctor Doom’s castle, and there were quite a few big moments.
Warning: this article contains spoilers for Secret Wars #8!
Doctor Doom, in full God Mode, finally took to the battlefield, coming to face to face with Thanos. Thanos mocked Doom, saying that he was a weak god for saving what was left instead of judging all living things, and then he told Doom that he ought to bow down to him. It’s not in Doom’s nature to stand being insulted, so he punched into Thanos’s chest, grabbed his spine, and ripped his skeleton from his body a la Mortal Kombat Fatality. Ed Boon would be proud.
9 Ways Virtual Reality Will Change More Than Games
A long time ago, I was on vacation with my family at a tourist trap. Arcades were always high on my priority list to find, but this particular trip, I found something new. It was a circular pod, containing a game player inside with goofy goggles on their face and a controller in their hand. It was an early VR system, probably of the Virtuality brand, that pit players against each other in a primitive death match.
My parents paid the $15 or whatever it was to play and it was terrible, of course, but we were promised that VR was the way of the future. 20-odd years later, with the advent of things like the affordable consumer-grade Oculus Rift, we’re on the brink of that reality. But the world is a very different place than it was in the early 90s.
