Webcomic Homestuck Ends 7 Year Run

Homestuck, the sprawling web epic spanning over 8,000 pages, concluded its run today.

The comic, created by Andrew Hussie, follows the adventures of 4 kids who unwittingly unleash the end of the world by playing a beta of fictional computer game Sburb.

As impressive as the comic is in its scale, it spawned an even more impressive fan base during its tenure. The strain placed on Newgrounds' servers when one Homestuck Flash animation posted caused the site to crash in 2011.

At over 800,000 words spanning comics, animations, gif, and chat logs, the comic almost has more in common with the classic epics of old in scale alone. According to a report on Kotaku, Hussie plans to publish an epilogue in the future.

According to a GameSpot report citing a statement in the lawsuit, the microtransactions are so lucrative because they have "nearly 100 percent profit margin."

The suit is being brought against Take-Two by former Rockstar North president Leslie Benzies, who claims the company tried to force him out of the company after he returned from sabbatical.

New Star Trek Set Before Next Generation

Next year’s return of Star Trek to TV has been shrouded in secrecy so far, but a new rumor indicates that we now know when the first season of the show will be set. Not to mention which universe it will take place in!

Birth.Movies.Death.’s sources are saying that the CBS All Access show will be set in the classic continuity, which is to say not in the J.J. Abrams reboot-verse. Additionally, Season 1 of the series will be set before the era of The Next Generation, but after the events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. That covers a lot of years, and BMD’s report is not specific beyond that, but essentially what this means is that the era that could be covered spanned the time of the Enterprise-B (the one captained initially by Cameron from Ferris Bueller!) and the Enterprise-C (the one that was destroyed defending a Klingon outpost, as we learned in the classic TNG episode “Yesterday’s Enterprise”).
