Microsoft Prototyping a Variety of New Xbox Ideas, Say Rumours
If you have one, you must have the other. And so it is that after yesterday's latest rumour about the PlayStation 4.5 - allegedly codenamed "NEO" - today sees fresh reports that Microsoft is testing "a variety of prototype Xbox devices".
The new information comes from The Verge, who report that Xbox sources have told the tech website that at least some of the prototypes have been "tested with upgraded components you'd use to improve the performance of a PC gaming rig."
George R.R. Martin Open to Game of Thrones Spinoff
While HBO executives aren't considering a Game of Thrones spinoff at the moment, author George R.R. Martin is open to the possibility.
Game of Thrones is expected to run for eight seasons—and given its popularity, it seems silly to think HBO would just stop there.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Martin said "there is certainly no lack of material." For the acclaimed author, the "most natural follow-up" would be "an adaptation of
Dunk & Egg stories."
The Coalition Apologizes for Gears of War 4 Beta Distribution Issues
Gears of War 4 developer The Coalition has apologised after codes for the Gears of War 4 multiplayer beta were not sent out as planned.
The original plan was to have beta codes roll out to those who had played Gears of War Ultimate Edition on Xbox One or PC, sent in chronological order of when they had played.
However Gears of War's community manager Adam Fletcher gave the following statement on the forums last night:
The Division Is Handing Out Compensation to Players
The Division is giving free Phoenix Credits to anyone affected by the rash of recent issues that have plagued the online shooter. That is, potentially, every single player.
On Ubisoft Massive's latest State of the Game Twitch stream (as reported by VG24/7), the company confirmed that those who were affected by either the game-breaking backpack bug or losing their character on Xbox One would receive 500 Phoenix Credits (the currency used to buy end-game gear) and 10 of each High-End crafting material type.
Mafia 3: Taking Over New Orleans One Crime at a Time
Mafia 3, like its predecessors, has the potential to be among the heads of the open-world family. The series has always nailed story, setting, and time period -- the very things that many other open-world games come up short on. But it’s never been able to fill out its period-perfect places with enough to do. If my two hours with Mafia III is any indication, righting that wrong is a key design pillar. Combine that with heavenly driving physics and brutal combat, and I might be saying “Fuggedaboutit” to other games so that I can focus on Mafia 3 this October.
You play Lincoln Clay, an orphan whose only family has ever been of the organized crime variety. The year is 1968, and Lincoln is a Vietnam vet -- a convenient explanation for his otherworldly combat skills. Seriously, if you don’t recoil at least once at Mafia 3’s brutal takedowns (in a good way; they’re pretty damn fun to execute), then you’re truly desensitized to just about anything. Lincoln wages war against the Italian mob in New Bordeaux -- read: New Orleans -- by hitting them where it hurts: in the wallet. Also the face.
Mafia 3 Release Date, Pre-Order Bonuses Announced
2K announced Mafia III is coming to consoles and PC on October 7, 2017. It also revealed gamers who pre-order any edition of the game will be eligible to receive the "Family Kick-Back" pre-order bonus.
The Family Kick Back includes "three exclusive vehicles and weapons" and will be available at the game's launch.
Three different versions of the game are available for pre-order. In addition to the vanilla-version of the game, the $80 deluxe edition can be ordered either digitally or "in limited capacity from select retailers." The deluxe edition includes the game and season pass access, as well as access to "post-release downloadable content."
The $150 collector's edition is "packed with physical and digital items," including everything included with the deluxe edition, along with the game's original soundtrack on vinyl, an art book, art prints, "and more."
Joss Whedon Came off of Avengers: Age of Ultron Feeling Like A “Miserable Failure”
Joss Whedon has said that he was "beaten down" by the process of making Marvel's Avengers: Age of Ultron.
During an interview with Avengers star Mark Ruffalo at the Tribeca Film Festival (as reported by Variety), Whedon discussed his conflicting feelings on the film:
"I am very proud of it
The things about it that are wrong frustrate me enormously, and I had probably more of those than I had on the other movies I made."
Whedon ruled himself out of directing more films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Age of Ultron released, and his feelings about making the film seem to point as to why:
Dark Souls 3 Glitch Turns Game Into Grand Theft Auto
Ever wondering what Dark Souls 3 would be like if it featured the same camera perspective as the original Grand Theft Auto?
YouTuber Kappamari has managed to utilise a glitch whereby the game’s camera becomes fixed to a bird’s eye view, and the end result is, well, see for yourself below:
The glitch itself is performed by heading to the Pontiff Sulyvahn bonfire, then jumping off a ledge to a lower section. What happens is the camera stays at the higher point and doesn’t pan down with the character, which creates the Grand Theft Dark Souls viewpoint.
