Halo 5 Gets Grunt Mech in Next Update

Both the good guys and the bad guys are getting new rides in Halo 5: Guardians.

As part of 343 Industries' Warzone Firefight update, the developer is introducing the Grunt Goblin and the AV-49 Wasp. The Grunt Goblin is the first enemy unit to be built exclusively for Warzone and Warzone Firefight—and it can be "fielded as either a Legendary or Mythic boss," character designer Steve Dyck told Polygon.

Game of Thrones’ Tormund Actor Joins Justice League

One of the many things I learned on the set of Justice League last Friday was that Game of Thrones' Kristofer Hivju has joined the cast of the DC movie in a small role.

The red-haired, Norwegian actor -- best known as wildling warrior (and Brienne of Tarth's not-so-secret admirer) Tormund Giantsbane -- appeared in concept art on the wall of the production office as a character labeled an ancient Atlantean king,

Some SPOILERS for the Justice League movie follow.

Affleck: Batman Seeks Redemption in Justice League

Ben Affleck joked that Christian Bale would never have been caught dead speaking to the press with "raccoon eyes," but there he was right in front of me: an unmasked Batman with dark greasepaint smeared around his eyes as he spoke to dozens of press outlets invited to the Leavesden set of Justice League last Friday.

After watching Affleck as Batman film a GCPD rooftop scene with fellow JL members Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher), and Batman's longtime ally, Commissioner Gordon (J.K. Simmons, on his first day of filming), I spied Batfleck sit down and have his cape and cowl removed by crew members. The extremely tall, musclebound Oscar winner then sauntered down the steps of the rooftop set and started joking with the invited press about his "Alice Cooper" look when his mask is off.

Affleck: Batman Solo Movie Script Still Needs Work

IGN was among dozens of press outlets invited to the English set of Justice League late last week, during which time we also got to chat with star Ben Affleck about the status of his solo Batman movie, which he was recently confirmed as directing from a screenplay he's writing with DC Films' co-boss Geoff Johns.

When pressed about a release date for his solo Batman film, Affleck said, "I think they

have a date for it. Although, I don’t know if I would necessarily be able to make that date because I don’t have a script that’s ready yet. So that’s my -- my timetable is I’m not going to make a movie until there’s a script that I think is good because," he added with a laugh, "I’ve been on the end of the things when you make movies when you have a script that’s not good yet and it doesn’t pan out."

Willem Dafoe’s Justice League Character Revealed

While it was revealed this past April that Willem Dafoe had joined the cast of Justice League, his role has remained a secret -- until now. IGN visited the set of the DC Films project last week, where we learned that Dafoe will be costarring as Nuidis Vulko, the science advisor of Atlantis and an Aquaman supporting character from the comics.

Dafoe, like his Justice League costar J.K. Simmons, previously appeared in the Spider-Man films as an antagonist (in his case as the Green Goblin). But here he plays a good guy, a member of Jason Momoa’s Atlantean inner circle who has known Aquaman his whole life. While talking to the visiting press on set last week, costume designer Michael Wilkinson made sure to differentiate Vulko's more weathered, silver-laced armor from Aquaman's in order to illustrate the generational difference between the two Atlanteans. Also, Dafoe’s look in Justice League will differ from the traditional depiction of Vulko, with the actor sporting long hair and scruff rather than going semi-bald and goateed (or fully bearded) like in the comics.
