DC’s Bat Family takes center stage at Comic-Con
DC's Rebirth: Batman panel at Comic-Con gave fans a preview of Scott Snyder's return to Gotham while also shining a spotlight on the writers currently shaping the Bat-universe.
The main attraction, naturally, was Snyder's All-Star Batman, which debuts on August 8th. Snyder expressed his enthusiasm for focusing on villains he never got the chance to use before during his previous Batman work. The highly anticipated comic, which pairs the writer with John Romita, Jr., kicks things off with a story arc involving Two Face. According to Snyder, Two Face and Batman will make a bet that centers around the humanity (or lack thereof) that exists in the citizens of Gotham City. The stakes of this bet are huge, and if the few panels we saw a sneak peek of are any indication, this will be one of the biggest and craziest Bat books ever written.
First Photo, Trailer of the Justice League Revealed
The first official Justice League photo and trailer were revealed during the Warner Bros. panel at San Diego Comic-Con today.
From left to right, the photo shows The Flash, Superman, Cyborg, Wonder Woman, Batman, and Aquaman, played by Ezra Miller, Henry Cavill, Ray Fisher, Gal Gadot, Ben Affleck, and Jason Momoa respectively.
Warner Bros. also showed off footage of the Justice League in the trailer below.
The Justice League movie, directed by Zack Snyder and written by Batman v Superman's Chris Terrio, is set to hit theaters on November 17, 2017.
Ash’s Sister Will Appear in Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2
Ash vs Evil Dead's second season will see the return of a classic Evil Dead character, the show's producers and stars revealed to IGN during a set visit to the show.
Executive producer Rob Tapert and Ash Williams himself, Bruce Campbell, confirmed to IGN that Cheryl Williams, Ash's sister from the original The Evil Dead, will appear in the upcoming season. Ellen Sandweiss, who portrayed Cheryl in the 1981 film, will return to guest star as the character.
"Ash's sister makes a tiny little guest appearance, causes a little commotion," Tapert said to IGN.
"For that scene, when she comes back and it's Cheryl, people will hopefully freak their s***, because it's gonna look really accurate
DC/IDW Teaming Up For Blockbuster Crossovers
Comic book crossovers are always fun, and if today's DC Comics Crossover Classics panel is any indication, there are plenty of exciting stories on the way.
First on the agenda was Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which wrapped up its six-issue run this past May. It was announced that a hardcover version of the story will be released on August 17th. Writer James Tynion IV and artist Freddie Williams were both on hand to discuss the series, with Williams stating:
“The fact that it exists is amazing."

The Woods Is Actually a Secret Blair Witch Sequel
Despite being revealed as The Woods, Lionsgate's upcoming horror film is actually a surprise sequel to The Blair Witch Project.
The news comes by way of Entertainment Weekly, who notes the movie is titled Blair Witch and will debut in theaters on September 16. The film was showcased during a screening this week at San Diego Comic-Con under the guise of The Woods, and Lionsgate debuted a new poster and trailer.
Shooting for the film took place in Vancouver last year in secret. Like The Blair Witch Project, the sequel is another found footage-style movie. James Allen McCune stars as the brother of the character played by Heather Donahue in the 1999 original, and is in search of sister following her disappearance.
2016 Eisner Award Winners Revealed
The 2016 Will Eisner Comic Book Industry Eisner Awards were announced at Comic-Con last night. Essentially the Oscars of the comic book world, these awards honor the best books, creators and retailers of the past year.
Big winners this year included Southern Bastards for "Best Continuing Series," The Fade Out for "Best Limited Series" and Silver Surfer #11 for "Best Single Issue/One-Shot." Jason Aaron took home the award for "Best Writer," while Cliff Chiang won for "Best Penciller/Inker."
Why South Park Won’t Be Doing a Pokemon Go Episode
South Park won't be addressing the mobile phenomenon that is Pokemon Go, and series co-creator Trey Parker explained why during the South Park 20th anniversary panel at San Diego Comic-Con.
"What's really funny, people keep telling us about this Pokemon Go thing and asking if we're going to do something on that and I'm like 'We did, in 1999!'" Parker said during the panel, noting they already tackled the topic during the in the episode "Chinpokomon," which aired during South Park's third season.
Book of Mormon Movie Not Happening Anytime Soon
This week at San Diego Comic-Con, IGN got the chance to chat with Matt Stone and Trey Parker to discuss The Book of Mormon movie that was first announced three years ago. According to the South Park creators, it might be quite a while before the project ever comes to fruition, as the two are "in no hurry" to get the film made.

New Sonic Game Coming To PC and Consoles, Including NX
At its San Diego Comic-Con party tonight, SEGA confirmed that a new Sonic game is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo’s NX in holiday 2017.
The game is currently untitled, and no other details were revealed beyond the fact that it will be both a digital and physical release, and that the “epic title” is in development from the same team that made 2010’s Sonic Colors and 2011’s Sonic Generations.
Tonight’s announcement follows a series of teases from Sonic Team, in which the team promised a “completely new game” in honor of the franchise’s 25th anniversary.
