Rise of the Tomb Raider PS4 Release Date Announced
Square Enix has announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider will come to PlayStation 4 on October 11.
Rise of the Tomb Raider will arrive on PS4 in a new 20 Year Celebration edition, which includes the full game and all content from the Rise of the Tomb Raider Season Pass, which means Baba Yaga: Temple of the Witch, Cold Darkness Awakened, and all DLC outfits, weapons, and Expedition Cards. An art book will also be included for anyone who pre-orders.
Grandia 3 Listed for PlayStation 4 by ESRB
Another classic PlayStation 2 JRPG may soon be coming to PS4, if a new listing for Grandia III by the ESRB is any indication.
The Entertainment Software Rating Board has rated (via Gematsu) Grandia III for Sony's current-gen console, suggesting the Square Enix role-playing game will soon join PlayStation 4's growing catalog of downloadable PS2 games.
Grandia III was developed by Game Arts and launched for PlayStation 2 back in February of 2006. For our thoughts on the Square-published role-playing game, check out IGN's Grandia III review.
2 Free Trials Coming for Star Wars Battlefront’s Latest DLC
The Live Events calendar for Star Wars Battlefront now includes two free trial periods for the Bespin DLC.
The first one begins on August 19 and runs through to August 21. The second will be longer, running from September 12 to September 18. Do note that you'll actually need the base game in order to play, and an Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus account if you're on console.
The calendar also includes a new Hutt Contract beginning today, and another one coming on August 30.
In addition, there's already a planned double-score weekend for the Death Star DLC, which was teased last week alongside a new offline skirmish mode. The dates, September 23 to September 25, suggest the DLC will be launching around that time for Season Pass owners.
Overwatch PS4 Bug Causes Players to Lose Progress and Items
A bug on the PS4 version of Overwatch appears to be causing players to lose significant progress in the game, including the loss of in-game currency paid for with real-world money.
IGN has been contacted by players who have reported losing levels, competitive ranks, skins, loot boxes and the Credits, the in-game currency. Similar reports have emerged on Reddit and the Overwatch forums.
Last week, Blizzard said that the root cause for this problem had been fixed, and asked affected players to supply their PSN usernames. While no new reports of the problem seem to have emerged since that time, affected players are still reporting that the issues have not been reversed.

Gravity Rush 2 Release Date Announced
Sony has announced that Gravity Rush 2 will come to PlayStation 4 on December 2, 2016 in North America and the UK, and November 30 in Europe.
The news comes via the PlayStation Blog (and the European PS Blog) along with a new trailer, which shows off new gameplay featuring Kat, Raven, Syd, and new character Angel.
“The first new face to join the expansive world of Gravity Rush 2 is the mysterious guardian angel, who shows up to help Kat when she’s in a bind, quickly dispensing of a group of pesky Nevi enemies,” Sony’s Brian Dunn wrote. “Angel is a superheroine with an aggressive and wild fighting style, and packs an overwhelming punch to her attacks. She also has a crystallization ability that helps her to regenerate health instantly.”
J.J. Abrams: Star Trek Won’t Recast Anton Yelchin’s Chekov
Star Trek Beyond already has a sequel planned, but producer J.J. Abrams won't be replacing actor Anton Yelchin, who died tragically in an automobile accident in June, with another actor to fill the shoes of Chekov.
When the sequel starts filming, Abrams has said the series' producers will not recast Yelchin's Ensign Pavel Chekov.
"I can't possibly imagine that," Abrams told the Postmedia Network, "and I think Anton deserves better."
Activision Needs To Stop Making Bad Licensed Games
It’s well past time for Activision to join the rest of the major game publishers and stop its cynical practice of publishing low-effort movie and TV tie-in games that prey on unsuspecting and uninformed gamers.
Hell hath no fury like a fan scorned, and by routinely publishing bad low-budget games based on beloved movie and TV franchises with enthusiastic fanbases, Activision has earned a lot of it. So far in 2016 alone, it has published the terrible Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan (review score: 4.8) and last week’s generic and dull Ghostbusters game (review score: 4.4). Conspicuously, in both cases review copies weren’t sent out until the day of release. That’s something that could happen for innocent reasons, so it proves nothing – but if I were about to release a game I knew was bad and wanted to conceal that fact from gamers until after many people had already bought it, that’s how I’d do it.

Allen Walker and his pals from the order found themselves in a dangerous predicament at the end of "Lonely Boy," leaving me eager to see how the Innocence-wielding exorcist would be able to save his friends and a young orphan boy named Timothy from the hands of the Akuma. "It'll Be Fine If I Wash My Face" continues the intense battle in another action-heavy episode that provides a glimpse into the internal struggle Allen must face as The Fourteenth attempts to assume control.
Movie Tickets Are the Most Expensive They’ve Ever Been
Going to the movies is more expensive than it's ever been, as average ticket prices reached an all-time high this past quarter.
According to the National Association of Theatre Owners (via Variety), the average price for a movie ticket climbed to $8.73 during the second quarter of 2016, eclipsing the prior $8.70 record set last year.
The price marks a 1.7 percent jump from Q1 2016, which had an average ticket price of $8.58, as well as a 1.4 percent increase over last year's second quarter average of $8.61. The reason for the jump is believed to be due to more premium showings in IMAX and 3D, with Disney's latest animated hit Finding Dory and Marvel's superhero blockbuster Captain America: Civil War leading the charge.
