New Sonic Game Coming To PC and Consoles, Including NX

At its San Diego Comic-Con party tonight, SEGA confirmed that a new Sonic game is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo’s NX in holiday 2017.

The game is currently untitled, and no other details were revealed beyond the fact that it will be both a digital and physical release, and that the “epic title” is in development from the same team that made 2010’s Sonic Colors and 2011’s Sonic Generations.

Tonight’s announcement follows a series of teases from Sonic Team, in which the team promised a “completely new game” in honor of the franchise’s 25th anniversary.

New Info on Transformers: The Movie Blu-ray Revealed

New details on the special 30th Anniversary Edition of Transformers: The Movie on Blu-ray were revealed this week at San Diego Comic-Con.

Limited Edition Steelbook that comes with special packaging and a two Blu-ray set with both widescreen and full-frame options, as well as a digital copy and new bonus material, will be available on September 13. In addition, a standard two-disc Blu-ray set and a DVD version that includes the bonus content and a digital copy of the movie will be available on that date as well.

Day 2 of SDCC Cosplay Highlights Star Wars, Suicide Squad

It's that time of year, when fans from virtually every aspect of geekdom meet together in San Diego, CA for Comic-Con, one of the largest conventions in the world. Intersecting fandoms means we see a pretty diverse array of cosplay, and we're going to highlight our favorites for each day of the show. 

The second day of Comic-Con brought with it several big announcements, including a look at the new Wonder Woman movie poster and Ghost Rider's inclusion in Agents of Shield. And of course, there was more cosplay!

New 2D Sonic Game Announced

At Comic-Con tonight, SEGA announced Sonic Mania, a new 2D platformer with "core classic gameplay" headed to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in Spring 2017.

Sonic Mania includes reimagined areas from Sonic The Hedgehog, Sonic The Hedgehog 2, Sonic CD, and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Knuckles, as well as brand new areas. The game is co-developed by SEGA of America, PagodaWest Games, and developers Christian Whitehead and Simon Thomley.

In a statement, Sonic Team head Takashi Iizuka described Sonic Mania as a “passion project” that “was born out of our fans’ love of the classic Sonic 2D platform games.” He added, “This type of collaboration is a first for SEGA and we hope everyone will be both surprised and delighted by this title.”

South Park Creators Talk Bad DLC (and Good)

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone made a surprise appearance at Comic-Con today to celebrate the show’s upcoming 20th season, which debuts in September on Comedy Central. They also were on hand with a sneak peek of their next video game, Ubisoft’s South Park: The Fractured But Whole, which they told me very well might feature downloadable content in the future -- despite their previous statements about not wanting DLC for their game The Stick of Truth.

American Gods Trailer Released

During today's American Gods panel at San Diego Comic-Con, Starz debuted the first trailer for its upcoming series based on Neil Gaiman's beloved novel.

In addition to the trailer, Starz also announced that Kristin Chenoweth has joined the cast and will star as Easter, the goddess of spring. This isn't the first time Chenoweth has worked with showrunner Bryan Fuller, as the actress also starred in Fuller's comedy series Pushing Daisies.

Injustice 2 Mobile Version Will ‘Definitely’ Happen

A mobile version of Injustice 2 is on the way, NetherRealm Studios creative director Ed Boon confirmed today at San Diego Comic-Con.

"There's definitely going to be an Injustice mobile 2 app as well," Boon said during IGN's Comic-Con livestream, noting that he "always describe

the mobile game and the comic as the two children the game had that graduated and went on."

Boon also spoke to the possibility of Injustice 2 coming to PC, saying a port is "pretty likely."

Today brought with it several exciting announcements for Injustice fans, as both Wonder Woman and Blue Beetle were announced as the latest roster additions for Injustice 2, and DC revealed a prequel comic for NetherRealm's upcoming fighter.

Casual audiences are pretty familiar with Ghost Rider by now, thanks to the two movies starring Nicolas Cage as Johnny Blaze. But comic book readers will know that Blaze is one of many Ghost Riders who have raced their way across the Marvel Universe. Blaze is pretty much the quintessential Ghost Rider in terms of look, powers, origin story and prominence in the comics. He's the death-defying stunt racer who sold his soul to save a loved one and is now cursed to roam the highways and punish the wicked.
