Scarface: Magnificent Seven Director May Helm Remake
Antoine Fuqua could be directing the upcoming Scarface remake.
According to Deadline, Fuqua is currently in talks with Universal. This will be the third time the story has been told, after the original released in 1932, followed by the remake with Al Pacino in 1983.
This remake will differ in that it will be set in contemporary Los Angeles. Jonathan Herman (Straight Outta Compton) wrote the most recent story draft, and it will be produced by Marc Shmuger, Scott Stuber, and Dylan Clark. Marty Bregman, one of the producers on the 1983 Scarface movie, is also on board to produce.
Comic Book Reviews for August 10, 2016
This week's comic book lineup included several major releases from DC, including the debuts of All-Star Batman, Deathstroke and Superwoman and the release of Teen Titans: Earth One Vol. 2. Marvel delivered the penultimate chapter of Darth Vader and began the "Dead No More" storyline in Amazing Spider-Man. In the indie world, the big news this week was the debut of Jonathan Hickman and Tomm Coker's The Black Monday Murders. But none of those books could top the week's clear winner, Vision #10.
Scroll down to check out our reviews for these and various other new releases, and be sure to let us know your favorite books of the week in the comments below.
Also, you might notice a new face in the Review Crew. Levi Hunt is moving on to greener pastures, and this week we welcome new reviewer Joe Ruggirello into the fold.
Motorsport Manager Is a Different Kind of Racing Simulator
When it comes to sports management simulations there’s football, and then there’s everything else. In 1982 British publisher Addictive Games released Football Manager, a text-based football management simulation that singlehandedly established a new genre of video games. Premier Manager, Championship Manager, and SEGA’s own Football Manager would all reap success following in its wake.
While there’s no shortage of management sims built around other sports – baseball, hockey, cricket, and even professional cycling to name just a few – motor racing is one of the oldest non-football examples. Indeed, Addictive Games followed up the original Football Manager with Grand Prix Manager (published on its ‘Silicon Joy’ sub-label) way back in 1984.
Inhumans vs. X-Men #0 Incites the Superhero Battle
We have your first details on Inhumans vs. X-Men #0 by writer Charles Soule and artist Kenneth Rocafort, which will recap and set up the conflict between the two superhero factions before it escalates to full war in the six-issue Inhumans vs. X-Men limited series hitting this winter.
The Inhuman/X-Men conflict began when a Terrigen Cloud was released and began moving across the globe, turning people with latent Inhuman genes into super-powered Inhumans. While this was a boon for the Inhumans, the cloud proved harmful to anyone with the X-gene. When mutants began to fall ill, the X-Men escaped the toxic cloud by relocating the X-Mansion to another dimension, Limbo, and have been at odds with the Inhumans ever since.
No Man’s Sky Game Breaking Bug Strands Players
Players who pre-ordered No Man's Sky - and were awarded a beefed-up bonus starship for their troubles - have stumbled across a game-breaking bug that's leaving them stranded among the stars.
The problem seems to be rooted in the pre-order ship itself. While most players have to grind for a few hours during the early stages of the game to build a hyperdrive that enables intergalactic travel, the pre-order ship boasts one from lift-off.
However as Reddit user McBlurry points out, redeeming the pre-order ship means players skip the tutorial that gives them the blueprint for how to build a hyperdrive. The snag hits a few hours later, if they trade their spacecraft for a more powerful model that doesn't have a hyperdrive.

The Eyes of Ara: An Intriguing Mystery from a One Man Team
It’s hard not to draw comparisons between The Eyes of Ara – a new game from Brisbane-based indie studio 100 Stones Interactive – and PC classic Myst. The game, after all, is set on an isolated island that’s long been deserted, and is presented from first person, with environmental exploration, puzzles, a mysterious narrative, and supernatural-meets-sci-fi-meets-fantasy elements. Highly reminiscent of the ‘90s adventure phenomenon, in other words.
“I found Myst to be a fascinating game,” says 100 Stones’ Ben Droste, “it was unlike anything I had played before. I wanted to try to capture the same sense of wonder and contemplative exploration.” The result is very much a success. The Eyes of Ara presents a world where the player has to piece together the narrative and history of its strange environment based on notes left behind by previous inhabitants and books concerned with planets and astrology, not to mention by wandering through the dusty halls of a huge castle taking in the various sights.
Star Trek: Discovery Time Period Revealed
Executive producer Bryan Fuller hit the Television Critics Association Press Tour today to talk about his upcoming CBS All Access series, Star Trek: Discovery. Along the way, the man behind Pushing Daisies and Hannibal revealed several tantalizing bits of information about what has been a highly secretive project until now. Among the revelations Fuller dropped were the news that Discovery will have a female lead, and that the character will be a human but not the ship's captain.
Additionally, the show will be set approximately 10 years before Captain Kirk took command of the USS Enterprise, meaning Star Trek: Discovery will exist more or less in the same time period as the original show. Some more details revealed include:
