6 New TV Shows We’re Excited For

Our full Fall TV Preview posted recently, and as you can see looking it over, there is a ton of shows to choose from in the weeks and months to come. But among the new series, which stand out the most? We've had the chance to see many of the upcoming series (or, at the least, the first episode), and selected a few that we think have a lot of promise.

We all know good shows can start out bad, and bad shows can start out strong, but as the premieres for these series approach, here are 6 series we're hopeful for in the long term.

Premiere: 10/02/16

J.J. Abrams and Jonathan Nolan's last collaboration brought us the excellent Person of Interest, so we're instantly intrigued by the two teaming up again, joined by Lisa Joy (Burn Notice), for this adaptation of the 1973 film from Jurassic Park author Michael Crichton about a different kind of theme park gone wrong experience. The cast (including Anthony Hopkins, Jeffrey Wright, Evan Rachel Wood, James Marsden, Jimmi Simpson and Shannon Woodward) is top notch and having seen the first two episodes, we're already fascinated by this depiction of a picture perfect recreation of the wild west, populated by robots - and what happens when they begin to behave in ways their makers don't expect.

The Future of the 3DS: What You Need to Know

September’s Nintendo Direct carefully outlined the next several months of 3DS software with the kind of goofy-yet-loveable charm that sets Nintendo apart from its competitors. But between the skits about Reggie’s lost 3DS XL and bearded Bill Trinen, Nintendo’s video presentation had surprise game announcements, and some games we weren’t quite expecting side-by-side with some we barely had enough time to really grasp.

In total, Nintendo talked about 18 games plus five new mini games for StreetPass Plaza, and that’s not counting Skyward Sword’s release on Wii U Virtual Console. Here’s the full scoop:

Narcos: Let’s Discuss How Season 2 Ended

If you've already binged all 10 episodes of Narcos' second season on Netflix, here are my thoughts on how the season wrapped up. If you haven't watched Season 2, or made it all the way to the end, this is your spoiler warning.

For the non-spoiler review of Season 2, head here.

Before I dive into the death of Pablo Escobar at the end of Narcos: Season 2, let's be clear about the fact that the show, right in the final moments, set us up for a possible third season that would focus on the takedown of the Cali Cartel. An obvious route, for sure, but also one that lacks the power of Pablo. None of the Cali members feel like fully formed characters like Pablo was so this hypothetical Season 3 already faces an uphill climb. The villains are all just smarmy and nefarious and unless the show all of a sudden decides to take us into their lives like it did with Pablo, the story might run on fumes. Of course, the show could always shift back to the lives of Murphy and Pena and explore those two characters a bit more.

Firewatch for Xbox One Release Date Announced

Firewatch will release for the Xbox One on September 21, developer Campo Santo announced today. A major, free update for the game on all platforms is also expected to release on the same day.

The free update will introduce what is essentially a commentary mode to the game, but one that is built into the Wyoming wilderness that is Firewatch's setting. Players will be able to discover over 100 kiosks and tapes that explain Firewatch's development, the reasoning behind certain decisions, and more from Campo Santo.

Players can keep track of what they collect via a checklist on the in-game map, which lists all of the tapes available on each day of the game's story.
