Get The Crew Free on PC Next Week
Ubisoft has confirmed PC owners will be able to grab The Crew for free starting next week.
The Crew “will be available with all the content that we’ve been adding in the past two years,” said Ivory Tower’s Soufyane Brahimi via Ubisoft’s Facebook page.
According to Brahimi over 9 million players have played The Crew since its release back in late 2014.
Ubisoft is giving away a free PC game each month until the end of the year to celebrate the publisher’s 30th anniversary. Previous free games include Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and the original Splinter Cell. The current free game is Rayman Origins, but that will be replaced on September 14 with The Crew.

We Played Super Mario Run One-Handed
What’s it like to play Super Mario Run? Nintendo’s new Mario platformer coming to iOS this Holiday (and next year to Android) puts the company’s world-famous mascot on mobile devices in a smart way. I played three quick stages and couldn’t help but admire how Nintendo uses simple controls, short stages full of coins and scoring opportunities, and skillful jumps as strong hooks to keep us playing and increase our scores. It’s easy to play with one-hand, too. In fact, I did just that right at the start of our demo.
‘HDR Is Really the Future,’ Says Naughty Dog Lead Programmer
In the wake of Sony’s reveal of the new PS4 Pro earlier today developers from Insomniac Games and Naughty Dog have discussed why high-dynamic-range imaging, or HDR, is set to be an especially exciting new step when it comes to video game visuals.
“For our Spider-Man project we’re really working as hard as we can to build a really rich, detailed version of New York City and the amount of detail and improved fidelity you can get on a 4K display – especially a 4K display that has HDR – is pretty stunning,” said Al Hastings, chief architect at Insomniac Games, during an interview following Sony’s presentation. “It’s a real step forward. That’s what we’re most excited about.”
Microsoft Still Confident It Will Have ‘Most Powerful Console Ever’
Microsoft is confident its E3 claim calling Xbox One Scorpio “the most powerful console ever built” is still accurate, even after the PS4 Pro reveal earlier today.
Speaking to IGN, Albert Penello, senior director of product management and planning at Xbox, was bullish about the chances of Scorpio (and Xbox One S) versus Sony’s newly revealed hardware.
“I believe that the difference between what we’re going to deliver with Scorpio from a performance perspective and PS4 Pro will be obvious to customers,” Penello told IGN. “I believe we have the best value this holiday, and I think we’re going to have the most powerful box next year.”
Super Mario Run Won’t Come to Android in 2016
IGN has learned that the recently announced Super Mario Run will not come to Android in 2016.
Earlier today Nintendo announced the smartphone debut of Mario was coming to the iOS App Store this holiday, and the company said an Android version of the game would come later.
“For us, the stability of the iOS platform was important in choosing iPhones for the game,“ Nintendo Creative Fellow Shigeru Miyamoto told IGN, but he reiterated that Nintendo had plans to bring it to Android later on.
But would Android users get to play it in 2016? Miyamoto told us that Super Mario Run would not come to Android this year.

CoD: Infinite Warfare Zombies Brings the ’80s Movie Camp
At Call of Duty XP this past weekend we got to play a short demo of Infinite Warfare’s Zombies mode, and there’s something surreal about headshotting zombies while Animotion’s “Obsession” plays in the background. At one point I turned a corner and accidentally went down an amusement park slide, shooting a group of zombies as I landed. A lot of them wore legwarmers and side ponytails. They can breakdance. David Hasselhoff is the DJ.
This is developer Infinity Ward’s first foray into Zombies (a mode pioneered by CoD: Black Ops developer Treyarch), and it’s seeking to differentiate itself. As far as gameplay goes it follows in previous versions’ footsteps, but it’s a big thematic leap from anything we’ve seen before. It’s not creepy, it’s campy, even more so than the Jeff Goldblum-powered mode in Black Ops 3. And so far, that ‘80s horror-movie feel works in Zombies in Spaceland’s favor.
Only 4 Nintendo Mobile Games Will Be Out Before March 2017
In spite of promising a total of 5 mobile games by March 2017, Nintendo now says it will only have a total of 4 ready.
In an interview with Time today, Shigeru Miyamoto said Nintendo doesn't know if "there will end up being all five of them," after all.
Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima stated there would be 5 games coming out of the Nintendo partnership with DeNA in October last year,
Miyamoto told Time while the plan has been to release 5 games all along, "market conditions and the development process for each title" has removed one unknown game from the release schedule. The newly announced Super Mario Run is one of the 5 games Nintendo originally referenced.
Shia LaBeouf Slams Steven Spielberg’s Filmmaking
It's not the first time he's spoken ill of working with the famous filmmaker, but actor Shia LaBeouf has gone on record again criticizing his former collaborator, director-producer Steven Spielberg.
In a candid interview with Variety, LaBeouf said of finally meeting Spielberg, who exec produced the three Transformers movies LaBeouf starred in and directed the actor in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: "“You get there, and you realize you’re not meeting the Spielberg you dream of. ... You’re meeting a different Spielberg, who is in a different stage in his career. He’s less a director than he is a (expletive) company.”
