Minecraft’s Boss Update Coming to Mobile, VR

Boss battles are coming to Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition beta, Minecraft: Pocket Edition, and Minecraft: Gear VR Edition for the first time in an update scheduled for launch on October 18.

With the Boss Update comes a battle with the Wither, the Elder Guardian, and explorable Ocean Monuments. The addition of Add-Ons will also allow players to tweak the Minecraft experience by editing text files.

According to the Minecraft team, you can use Add-Ons to adjust AI or customize mobs and other elements. These custom-made Minecraft worlds can then be uploaded online for others to download and play.

Several examples will be available for a free download off Minecraft’s official website on October 18 when the update goes live, including the Alien Invasion and Castle Siege Add-Ons shown off at E3 2016.

Forza Horizon Reaching ‘End of Life’ Status Next Month

The original Forza Horizon for Xbox 360 will soon no longer be available for purchase, as Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games' 2012 racing game will reach "End of Life" status on October 20.

In a post on the official Forza Motorsport website, community manager Brian Ekberg announced that Forza Horizon and all of its related downloadable content will be unavailable for purchase from that date onward. However, anyone who buys the game before October 20 will still be able to download the title and all its DLC as they normally would.

Earlier this month, the original Forza Horizon was available as a free download for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, and is one of the many backwards compatible Xbox 360 games now playable on Xbox One.

Snapchat Announces $130 Smart Sunglasses

Snapchat has unveiled its first hardware product, a pair of smart sunglasses called Spectacles. As part of the company’s new venture into wearable devices, it has also rebranded itself as Snap Inc., and has a new Twitter account to boot.

WSJ Magazine reports that Spectacles will allow you to record as much as 10 seconds of video shot by a 115-degree-angle lens. You’ll have to connect the sunglass wirelessly to your smartphone in order to make the video accessible on Snapchat. Available in three colors (teal, coral, or black), the Spectacles will only go for $130, which is much cheaper than Google Glass’ $1,500 price point.

Longmire: Let’s Discuss How Season 5 Ended

If you've already binged all 10 episodes of Longmire: Season 5 on Netflix, here are my thoughts on how everything wrapped up. If you haven't watched the fifth season, or made it all the way to the end yet, this is your spoiler warning.

For the non-spoiler review of Season 5, head here.

If fans of Longmire were to look ahead at what could be considered the end of the series, as a whole, a big part of it would have to include Walt and Vic finally becoming a couple and realizing their mutual feelings for one another. That doesn't mean this will happen, but the series has now made Vic's torch for her boss such a substantial issue that it seems unavoidable. There's always room to defy expectations though, right?

Daredevil’s D’Onofrio on When Kingpin Might Return

During our recent chat with Vincent D'Onofrio about his new film, The Magnificent Seven, we asked the actor about if and when we might see his bad guy Wilson "Kingpin" Fisk again on Marvel's Netflix series. Here's what he had to say about that ...

IGN: We recently talked to Chris Pratt and he really was singing your praises big time. Considering you're both also part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, mind you, very distant corners of each other, is there any chance we can ever see Wilson Fisk and Peter Quill cross paths in any way, shape, or form? Or is that just too pie in the sky?

What Ico Did That No Game Has Done Since

In the 15 years since Ico was released on the PlayStation 2, video games have evolved in remarkable ways. The HD-era has ushered in photo-realistic visuals, ubiquitous online play has connected people worldwide from all walks of life and the rise of indies has given a voice and a platform to even the smallest of teams. But in the countless games that have come out in the past decade and a half, somehow none have managed to replicate the simple power of one of Ico’s basic mechanics -- the act of holding on to someone else’s hand.

There’s so much about Ico that’s stuck with me since I first played the game in 2001 -- its gorgeous aesthetic, subtle and silent storytelling, and its melancholy ending. But if I’m being perfectly honest, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of Fumito Ueda’s classic is the subtle intimacy between Ico and Yorda that comes across via holding on to the princess’ hand during quiet moments, and the darkest of situations, which is something that I can safely say all of us have experienced at some point throughout our lives.

Pluto Might Have a 100km Ocean Beneath Its Surface

After NASA's New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto last year, it started sending data back to Earth, and thermal models have suggested there's an ocean beneath the planet's icy surface.

Brandon Johnson from Brown University's Department of Earth, Environmental and Planetary Sciences, said, "Thermal models of Pluto's interior and tectonic evidence found on the surface suggest that an ocean may exist, but it's not easy to infer its size or anything else about it."
