Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind TV Series Announced
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is being turned into a TV series.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin, who produced the 2004 film, will remake the movie into a show with Universal Cable Productions attached. But, the project is still in its early stages.
Zev Borrow, who’s known for writing Chuck, is in talks to pen the script. But Charlie Kaufman, who wrote the original film, won’t be involved with the remake. Anonymous Content, the production company that's responsible for True Detective and Mr. Robot, will be producing the project.
Agent Coulson Zings Marvel’s Movie Ghost Rider
During tonight’s panel for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, actor Clark Gregg, who plays Agent Phil Coulson, poked fun at the Ghost Rider movies.
“When I heard Ghost Rider was coming to the show, I’m going to be honest, I saw the movies,” Gregg said, earning laughs and cheers from the crowd. The two Ghost Rider movies starring Nicholas Cage are generally disliked by fans and critics alike, although it’s worth noting that the Ghost Rider appearing on the show isn’t Cage’s Johnny Blaze but a newer Marvel Comics character called Robbie Reyes who drives a flaming car instead of the signature motorcycle.
Gregg paused when he heard the crowd’s reaction and pivoted, explaining how despite being skeptical about bringing magic to the show, he was wowed both by actor Gabriel Luna's performance and the Ghost Rider special effects.
Black Panther: Forest Whitaker Joins Cast
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story star Forest Whitaker has joined the cast of Black Panther.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor will play Zuri, an elder statesman in Wakanda, but not much else about the role was revealed. The character first appeared in the comics in 1998, in which Zuri becomes one of Black Panther's closest allies and advisers.
This won’t be the first time Whitaker and Black Panther director Ryan Coogler will have teamed up, as the actor produced Coogler’s breakout film Fruitvale Station.
Along with Whitaker, Black Panther’s cast includes Michael B. Jordan (who also starred in Fruitvale Station), Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke as Man-Ape, and Chadwick Boseman as the titular anti-hero.
Westworld’s Second Episode Rolls Out 2 Days Early
If you're a subscriber to HBO Now, HBO Go, or HBO on Demand, you can watch the upcoming episode of Westworld right now, instead of having to wait until it airs at its scheduled Sunday slot.
Variety hypothesizes the move is to avoid a potential ratings-loss to the US presidential debate, also scheduled for Sunday evening.
HBO has been putting a lot into making its new sci-fi series a hit, giving non-HBO subscribers a chance to watch the Westworld premiere episode for free.
Black Sails Readies For a Big Final Season
After a huge new trailer for the show debuted (see the embed below), fans at the panel for Black Sails at New York Comic Con today made it clear they were sad the show is ending with Season 4 next year, but as the producers explained, it simply felt like the right time. The show began as a prequel of sorts to Treasure Island, and executive producer Jonathan E. Steinberg said the question they faced planning out the final episodes was, “How do you do justice to a book that is so much bigger than anything we do on the show?"
Said EP Dan Shotz, “We always want to up our game every season; build on it.” EP Robert Levine noted their intent was to give fans, “Wonderful payoffs to stories that launched long before Season 3,” and to finish the show in a way where, “By the end you can feel you were told a complete story.”
