9 Canceled Movies We’re Still Dying to See
Plenty of the best directors in Hollywood, from Alfred Hitchcock to Orson Welles to Stanley Kubrick, have come up with incredible movie premises that, for one reason or another, never saw the light of day.
Plenty of these movie ideas have been picked up and taken on by other directors as well, ending up being released but with a new take on the original intent (here's looking at you, Guillermo del Toro's The Hobbit). And of course we live in an age where what is dead may never die, and plenty of seemingly canceled movies -- from Star Wars: Episode VII to a Blade Runner sequel -- are very much alive.
Prey for the Gods Gets New Name Following Bethesda Dispute
UPDATE: A Bethesda representative provided the following statement to IGN regarding the name change:
"We really didn’t have much of a choice. If we don’t oppose the mark, we risk losing our Prey trademark and that isn’t acceptable. Unfortunately, that’s how trademark law works."
A Bethesda representative tells IGN that they first reached out to No Matter Studios as early as November 2015 regarding this, before Prey for the Gods' Kickstarter campaign began, and "multiple times" since then.
Original story follows:
The upcoming Shadow of the Colossus-inspired survival game Prey for the Gods has changed its name to Praey for the Gods following a trademark dispute with Bethesda, according to the developer.
Horizon Zero Dawn Getting Photo Mode Enhancements
Guerrilla Games is adding new Photo Mode features so you can snap a picture-perfect shot of Aloy in Horizon Zero Dawn.
Horizon's Photo Mode will get three new filters, a grid interface, the ability to change Aloy's pose and more with the 1.20 patch for the game. Guerrilla is also promising on the PlayStation Blog that you'll be able to change her facial expression and have her look toward the camera.
But that's not all for Horizon's 1.20 update. The PlayStation 4 exclusive will also receive a new camera/aim sensitivity slider and additional HUD customization.
The Coolest Villains in the Pirates of the Caribbean Movies
While the Pirates of the Caribbean movies owe much of their success to the wacky antics of Johnny Depp's Captain Jack Sparrow, that's not the only reason we love these movies. The Pirates franchise has given us some of the most memorable pirate villains and coolest monster designs of any Hollywood blockbuster. From Captain Barbossa to Davy Jones to the mighty Kraken, these villains leave quite an impression.
As we gear up for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth entry in this hugely successful franchise, and the debut of more memorable monsters and pirates, let's take a look back at the villains who have defined the Pirates series so far.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, with a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson. The film stars Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Javier Bardem as Captain Armando Salazar, Brenton Thwaites as Henry, Kaya Scodelario as Carina Smyth, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner. The film will hit US theaters on May 26.
Wrestling: Let’s Forget About WWE’s World Titles for a While
Let's kick things off with a brief SmackDown layeth-the-smacketh-down note and get them hashtag "Thank You Jericho"s up and rolling.
After defeating Owens at Payback, Jericho got swapped over to SmackDown so that he could lose the belt back, get taken out by a brutal post-match attack, and head out back on the rock n' road to Fozz it up.
He's gone for now. He'll probably be back, at some point, but I feel like this was his last great run with WWE. He got to feud with Styles and Ambrose and Reigns and Owens - getting two big Mania matches out of his wonderful mid-card run. He even got the U.S. belt twice. He killed a plant, lost a jacket, gained a scarf, added a List, gained a best friend, lost a best friend (while participating in one of the most memorable segments in recent history) and left at the top of his game.
Handmaid’s Tale Is Hulu’s Most Watched Premiere Ever
The Handmaid's Tale broke a Hulu record, with more people watching the series premiere than any other one available on the streaming service.
That includes original and acquired shows, Hulu noted in an official announcement. The streaming company has acquired many ongoing and complete series, including Please Like Me and Seinfeld, respectively.
“The response we’ve seen to The Handmaid’s Tale in just one week since its premiere has been absolutely incredible," said Hulu senior vice president and head of content Craig Erwich. "... We can’t wait to explore the world of Gilead and continue Margaret
’s vision with another season on Hulu."
The Handmaid's Tale just received a second season renewal by Hulu. We here at IGN have also reached out to the company for additional details on the show's viewership so far.
The Flashpoint Timeline Returns in Batman #22

Warning: this article contains spoilers for Batman #22!

It seems that Doctor Manhattan (or whomever has been manipulating the DCU lately) has kept the Flashpoint timeline alive even after Barry repaired the damage he caused to the timestream. Since readers last saw the world of Flashpoint, Aquaman and Wonder Woman have put aside their differences in order to finally eliminate Thomas Wayne.
