Square Enix Is Preparing to Start Work on Dragon Quest XII
Square Enix is reportedly preparing to start work on Dragon Quest XII, or at least “series developments that will connect to XII," though a formal announcement of the game appears to still be a ways off.
Reported and translated by Gematsu (and corroborated by Japanese site Mantan-Web), series producer Yuu Miyake made note of the future game during a Dragon Quest livestream, saying “By the way, about Dragon Quest XII, which I’m sure is on everyone’s mind—
Sony, Microsoft Aren’t ‘Screwing Up at the Starting Line’ for Next-Gen, Says Todd Howard
Every generation of consoles and PC gaming has its high points and its incredibly low points. Sometimes you launch a console for $600, and other times you force players to maintain an always-online connection. Bethesda director Todd Howard is one of the lucky industry leaders who often gets an early look at the hardware that will determine the capabilities of the next generation, and on this month’s IGN Unfiltered, he has some positive, but very select words about what he’s seen on the horizon from major industry figures.
Godzilla: King of the Monsters Tops Box Office With Underwhelming Debut
Godzilla: King of the Monsters, while debuting at the top of the North American box office, underwhelmed as it earned only $49 million USD.
As reported by THR, the $49 million was below the latest Godzilla film's projections of over $50 million. It also pales in comparison to the $93 million and $61 million earned by the first two films of Legendary's MonsterVerse, 2014's Godzilla and 2017's Kong: Skull Island, respectively.
Via BoxOfficeMojo, Godzilla surpassed Disney's live-action Aladdin's $42 million and held strong against Rocketman's debut at $25 million. The full top 10 weekend domestic box office films are as follows;
Shenmue 3 Delayed Again
Shenmue 3 has been delayed again. However, this time it is only for a few months as "the game simply needs a little more refinement before being truly finished."
Series creator Yu Suzuki and publisher Deep Silver posted an update to all of the game's Kickstarter backers confirming that Shenmue 3's scheduled release date of August 27, 2019, has now moved to November 19, 2019.
They promise the game is "almost ready," and just needs a bit more time to "deliver the true Shenmue experience players around the world deserve!"
Why Neil Gaiman Doesn’t Want Good Omens Season 2
Wondering if Amazon Prime's Good Omens will get a Season 2? Here's our full ending explained, including why Neil Gaiman doesn't want the series renewed.
Warning! The following story contains spoilers for the end of Good Omens Season 1.
The seeds for a follow-up season of Good Omens seemed to have been planted in the epic finale. In the sixth episode, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video, the angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and his demon BFF Crowley (David Tennant) successfully thwarted the end of the world, but their final conversation hinted at an even bigger apocalypse to come: the inevitable war between angels and demons fighting against humanity. It was an ominous note to end on after a cheerful first season (despite the whole season centering on the impending apocalypse), and one that seemed to hold promise for an even bigger second season. If angels vs. demons were as epic as the first season of Good Omens showed, just think of how world-shattering it would be to see both sides team up against all of humanity. Now that's an Armageddon!
Apple Reportedly Planning to End iTunes
Reports indicate that Apple, at today's WWDC 2019, will announce that three separate media apps are going to replace iTunes on desktop.
iTunes has been a mainstay since it was first announced in 2001, but will soon be replaced by three separate apps for Music, TV, and Podcasts, according to a report by Bloomberg. The announcement is expected to occur during today's keynote at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm BST.
Alongside this reveal, Apple is also expected to discuss how it is positioning the Apple Watch to have even more independence from the iPhone with WatchOS 6, its push to make the iPad an even more viable laptop replacement, potentially show off a new Mac Pro, and give the world a look at iOS 13.
Rainbow Six Siege Is Planned to Continue Into Next-Gen
In a recent interview, Ubisoft Montreal hinted at their plans for bringing Rainbow Six Siege to next gen, and how it will do so without asking fans to segregate or stump up a load of cash.
Rainbow Six Siege might be the greatest long-term success story in all of the games as service genre. Although not the biggest or the most profitable, Siege touts a large and extremely dedicated fanbase thanks to a near constant stream of updates, and a public desire from Ubisoft Montreal to keep adding content until the game has 100 playable characters. It’s been around for so long and got so much better, we even re-reviewed it.
Control Preview: Like Max Payne Meets Alan Wake, But Weirder
This is now the second time I’ve played Control, the single-player, third-person action-adventure from Max Payne, Alan Wake, and Quantum Break developer Remedy. My first test drive (which you can also watch below) convinced me of Control’s fundamentals – namely, that shooting things and using the director’s telekinetic powers felt really fantastic – and so in my second go-round, I was looking for the same level of polish and appeal in the rest of the experience. Remedy’s never given reason to doubt the Finnish studio, and Control doesn’t seem like it will end the studio’s run of quality offerings anytime soon.
