Epix’s Pennyworth Gives Batman’s Mom an Origin Story
For more on the series, be sure to check out our spoiler-free review of the Pennyworth series premiere right here.
Epix's Pennyworth will air its third and fourth episodes, titled "Martha Kane" and "Lady Penelope" respectively, on Sunday, August 11. Martha Kane, who some might know as Bruce Wayne's future mom, will join Alfred and Thomas Wayne on thrilling new adventures. And while the comic books have touched on Martha's character from time to time, she's never been fully explored in a live-action TV series or movie.
We spoke to actress Emma Paetz (Gentleman Jack) about the challenges of playing Batman's future mom, and if she ever felt any pressure taking on such an important role. "I felt very liberated because most of what people know about Martha and Thomas is them dying and that being the catalyst for Batman's story," Paetz told IGN. "So there's not a lot about how they live and how they were as people. So I didn't feel the weight of other people's expectations."
Update: Injured Fast and Furious 9 Stuntman Leaves Intensive Care
Update: Stuntman Joe Watts has now left intensive care after suffering head injuries on the set of Fast and Furious 9. Per Variety, The Watts family and girlfriend Tilly Powell released the following statement:
“While Joe remains in hospital and there is still a long road ahead, he has been moved out of the ICU and doctors are pleased with his progress. We’d especially like to send an enormous thank-you to the air ambulance crew, all the fantastic doctors, nurses and staff at the Royal London Hospital who have provided amazing care to Joe. We have been overwhelmed by the incredible support from friends, family and the stunt community, as well as the ‘Fast & Furious 9’ cast, crew and Universal Pictures.”
This Stunning New X-Men Power Can Seamlessly Introduce MCU Mutants
While we know new X-Men movies are eventually coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we don’t know exactly how Marvel’s Merry Mutants will be introduced to the MCU. Given that it’d be strange for mutants to suddenly appear when there had been no trace of them before, it’s become a fun fan guessing game to theorize exactly how Marvel mastermind Kevin Feige will explain it. The going theory is that we’ll learn Professor X used Cerebro to make the world forget about mutants, but a new X-Men comic mini-series titled House of X offers a more intriguing idea.
X-Men Editor Jordan White even said as much himself when he told IGN at Comic Con that House of X #2 in particular had something perfect for an MCU X-Men movie. Catch his comments at 5:17 in the video below:

Testing Will Soon Begin On An Unannounced Resident Evil Game
Capcom has seemingly issued invites to US-based members of its RE Ambassadors program to test a new game currently in development.
"Hi Resident Evil Ambassadors," reads the email, via Biohaze. "Today we're reaching out to recruit potential testers from our loyal RE Ambassador community to try out a new game in early development."
Applicants must live in Los Angeles and be available on September 20 or 21, or be based in New York and free on September 23 or 24. The email notes that participants won't be compensated for their time or travel.
The only requirement - aside from RE Ambassador membership - is that each player "has played a Resident Evil title in the past." The email follows a similar one sent out last week to Japanese program members to take part in tests happening on the 8 and 9 of September.

Sean Murray Experimenting on New Ideas Alongside No Man’s Sky
Hello Games founder Sean Murray has revealed that he's begun experimenting with new ideas aside from No Man's Sky in his spare time.
In an interview with IGN about the upcoming Beyond update for No Man's Sky, Murray explained, "we're actually now a little bit in that transition period where I'm secretly doing stuff in my spare time as well."
However, he's clear about his priority: "But No Man's Sky is the main thing we're doing."
It's not clear if Murray's referring to work on The Last Campfire, the 'Hello Games Short' adventure game announced last year - although the Shorts idea was announced as a way to strengthen new voices in the studio, meaning Murray's involvement may be limited.

No Man’s Sky Beyond: Everything in the New Mega-Update
When I spoke to Sean Murray last year, he had decided that he was done with huge updates to No Man’s Sky. The last major addition, titled Next, had added so much in one go that it had left him a little exhausted, and he wanted to switch to smaller, more regular patches. For a while, he kept that promise to himself. “We kept things more as a live game, like a normal studio would,” he tells me. “We were doing really well, like a proper game!”
“And then we just went mad.”
13 months after Next’s release, we’re sat in the same office, and Murray is showing me a new mega-update called Beyond. It’s considerably bigger than Next, rolling three planned sets of changes into one package. The free update will be out on August 14, and is built with the kind of altruistic optimism we’ve come to expect from Hello Games, designed to simultaneously offer meaningful changes to existing players, tempt lapsed players back, and offer brand new experiences for those who haven’t yet been converted.
