Face/Off Remake Reportedly in Development
Paramount is preparing a remake of the 1997 John Woo action joint Face/Off, reports Deadline. The studio reportedly plans to remake the film with a new cast, and 22 Jump Street and Sonic the Hedgehog writer Oren Uziel has apparently already been tapped to put together a script.
If you’re not familiar with what was one of the most bonkers action extravaganzas of the ’90s, Face/Off is the story of FBI agent Sean Archer (John Travolta) and charismatic terrorist Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage) – bitter enemies who, after a series of increasingly preposterous events, end up with surgically swapped faces. The result is a movie where Nic Cage needs to spend a decent amount of time acting like John Travolta, and John Travolta is required to spend a lot of time acting like Nic Cage (and some of that time as Nic Cage pretending to still be John Travolta). It’s truly as fabulous as it sounds.
The Muppets Reboot Dropped by Disney+
Disney+ will not be moving forward with Muppets Live Another Day, a scripted comedy series that was to "pick up right where 1984’s The Muppets Take Manhattan left off and focus on Kermit as he must bring the Muppets back together (after being disbanded) to help locate the missing Rowlf."
Reported by Deadline, Muppets Live Another Day was to be "written/executive produced by Frozen star Josh Gad and Once Upon a Time creators Adam Horowitz and Eddy Kitsis."
It had a pilot order and had been in the works for some time, but it will not go forward "over discrepancy between the writing team’s creative vision and that of the top brass at Disney-owned Muppet Studio."

Joker Wasn’t Made to Connect to Robert Pattinson’s Batman
This report has been updated with new quotes from the director of Joker.
Sorry, Bat-fans, but by all accounts the Joker movie won’t connect to Matt Reeves’ upcoming reboot The Batman, set to star Robert Pattinson. During our recent interview with Joker director Todd Phillips, the filmmaker elaborated on why Joker is a standalone film about a world where Batman doesn’t yet exist. Although young Bruce Wayne is a character in the film, Joker focuses more on Thomas Wayne than his son -- although Phillips was intrigued by what a Bruce Wayne/Batman would be like in Joker’s more realistic, period setting.
“We didn't want to make a Batman movie,” Phillips said when we asked him about the prominence of Thomas Wayne as a character in Joker. “If we changed that whole thing to suddenly it'd be Bruce Wayne and Batman would exist and all these other things that come with Batman that we were consciously trying to avoid. That was a clever or not clever solution to avoiding Batman altogether and being able to make a Joker movie where basically Batman doesn't exist yet.”
Fans Celebrate SEGA Dreamcast’s 20th Anniversary
SEGA's Dreamcast was famously released in North America on September 9, 1999 (9/9/99, which is pretty cool), making today the Dreamcast's 20th birthday! Naturally, fans have taken to social media to remember this strange, ahead-of-its-time console that is finally getting some proper recognition.
There were a bunch of factors that made the Dreamcast unique, including its Tamagotchi-like VMU memory card and its online-enabled hardware. It was also the first sixth-generation console out of the gate, beating competitors like PlayStation 2, the original Xbox, and Nintendo's GameCube to store shelves.
Remnant: From the Ashes Getting New Dungeon, Adventure Mode
Remnant: From the Ashes is receiving two free updates this month, adding a new mode and dungeon, Perfect World Entertainment and Gunfire Games announced Monday.
The first update, which adds Adventure Mode, will be released on September 12. Adventure Mode allows players to re-roll Earth, Rhom, and Yaesha individually without having to restart the entire campaign. (Players can currently re-roll the campaign, though doing so sacrifices all story progress; Adventure Mode "can be re-rolled freely without affecting your story," according to Gunfire.) Like the current re-roll system, all character progress will be saved.
A new dungeon, Leto's Lab, will follow as part of the second free update on September 19. Leto's Lab is a backstory-heavy dungeon that will dynamically spawn on Earth. It mixes "light puzzles" with combat, according to Gunfire, and adds an all-new boss fight.
Marvel’s Hawkeye May Have Found Its Kate Bishop
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse star Hailee Steinfeld has reportedly been offered a pivotal part in Marvel's upcoming Hawkeye live-action series alongside Jeremy Renner, who will reprise his role as the titular hero, Clint Barton.
Per Variety, if Steinfeld accepts the role, she will portray Kate Bishop, who eventually takes over the mantle of Hawkeye for a time, until Clint comes back from the dead in the comic books. Back at San Diego Comic-Con 2019, Marvel Boss Kevin Feige didn't say much about Kate Bishop, but did promise to "explore more of
