Marvel Comics Gives Thor a Massive Upgrade for 2020

Marvel Comics just debuted a new volume of Thor, as writer Donny Cates and artist Nic Klein chart a brand new course for the god of thunder. That includes a strikingly redesigned costume, as Thor finds himself dealing with more power and more responsibility than ever before.

As it turns out, there's an important reason behind Thor's latest wardrobe change. Read on to find out the real significance of this costume, but beware of spoilers for Thor #1 ahead!

The new series picks up in the aftermath of King Thor, the conclusion to writer Jason Aaron's seven-year Thor run. Thor has become the new Allfather of Asgard, ruling over his rebuilt kingdom on a new throne carved into the World Tree itself. Unfortunately, Thor faces the same challenge as so many new kings before him. It turns out that saving the world, slaying trolls and guzzling mead is a lot more fun than ruling a kingdom and dealing with politics all day long. Making matters worse, Thor finds Mjolnir is becoming harder to lift with each passing day. Loki is the only other Asgardian aware of this secret.

Rise of Skywalker Passes $800M Worldwide But Trailing Episodes 7 & 8

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, one of the most anticipated films in the final months of 2019, has earned over $800 million worldwide since its December 20th release.

However, despite the film's success, The Rise of Skywalker still trails preceding episodes The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi in terms of box office sales. The Force Awakens was by far the biggest success of the three films, bringing in an impressive $2.1 billion worldwide.

Despite pulling in almost $17 million at the New Year's Day box office, The Rise of Skywalker likely won't be able to surpass Episode 7, but could possibly catch Episode 8. However, the odds don't seem great, as The Last Jedi pulled in a total of $1.3 billion globally.

None of Colin Trevorrow’s Original Script Was Used in Episode IX

Once upon a time, Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow was slated to direct and co-write Star Wars: Episode IX, until parting ways with Lucasfilm in September 2017. But though Trevorrow and co-writer Derek Connolly received a story credit in the final film, it seems none of their screenplay was actually used in the making of The Rise of Skywalker.

The Wrap reports (via Slashfilm) that Trevorrow and Connolly's draft was completely abandoned after director JJ Abrams and co-writer Chris Terrio came on board. Terrio told The Wrap, "We are both a little superstitious about starting with material that might lead us in a direction that’s different than the one we might’ve gone in naturally. So we didn’t begin with the previous script, there may have been certain elements that we used that had been in the original script and we weren’t aware of it."

‘Toss a Coin To Your Witcher’ Is Now a Playable Song in Beat Saber

If there’s one thing that audiences took away from Netflix’s The Witcher TV show, it’s Jaskier’s “Toss a Coin To Your Witcher” ballad. And now that catchy song is playable in Beat Saber.

Holair, a Beat Saber player, created a custom track level for the Witcher song about paying your Witchers. The track was uploaded to BeatSaver, a site for custom player-created levels that anyone on PC can download from. Unfortunately, you can’t change the default red and blue sabers into a steel and silver sword. But you can always just use your imagination.

You can check out Holair’s uploaded demonstration of the Witcher Beat Saber level here. Holair is playing on the highest difficulty, but the pace of the song is relatively manageable throughout the level.
