Disintegration Hands-On Preview: A New Kind of Shooter
At first glance, Disintegration looks like a whole lot of ingredients from different genres stylishly mashed together: one part futuristic first-person shooter, one part action-focused airship piloting, a heavy dose of strategy elements like troop commands, abilities combos, and cooldown rotations. It can seem like a lot.
On paper, that's the core of Disintegration – a game of many different layers. You’d think those elements might clash, that they'd cannibalize one another: the precision gunplay, the frantic aerial dodging, and the careful issuing of orders from on high. But all those pieces, somehow, working harmoniously is what supports V1 Interactive’s grand design – thanks, primarily, to V1's actual design.
How I Learned to Grieve and Heal Through Star Wars
Warning: this article contains minor spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker!
While Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker delivered some big revelations that rocked the foundations of the Skywalker Saga, it was one innocuous, blink-and-you-miss-it moment featuring two unnamed characters that left me reeling. It came as the Resistance congregated after their victory: two women shared a celebratory kiss.
Though it may not seem like much, for me it meant the world because it helped me find closure after years of trying to process the loss of my best friend Drew Leinonen. He was among those killed during the 2016 shooting at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida. That little kiss marked the end of a long journey involving an online petition, thousands of Star Wars fans, and the head of Lucasfilm itself.
Realistic Breakfast Made in Dreams Will Make You Ravenous
Hungry? You will be after you see a realistic breakfast made by a game designer in upcoming PS4-exclusive Dreams.
You can blame senior principal designer John Beech for the hunger pains. He works at Media Molecule on Dreams, and posted his cooked breakfast project - what he calls “Full Beech Breakfast” - on Twitter to bring in the new year. It’s astoundingly realistic.
The project is simple in concept in that it’s merely a rotatable view of a plate of breakfast, featuring sausages, eggs, bacon, beans, mushrooms, toast, a grilled tomato, a hash brown, and a black pudding. But the execution on this is absurd - it looks like a photograph.
Aliens Exist and Could Be on Earth, Says Astronaut
Dr Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut to go into space, has claimed aliens exist and it is possible they are already living among us here on Earth.
Speaking to the Observer magazine, Sharman reflected on her collective years in the field of science and technology, including her milestone mission to the Soviet modular space station Mir in May 1991. During the interview she claimed that extraterrestrial life exists somewhere in the universe.
"Aliens exist, there's no two ways about it," she said, adding, "there must be all sorts of different forms of life" among the billions of stars in our galaxy. She also noted that aliens may not be made up of carbon and nitrogen like humans, and as such "it's possible they're here right now and we simply can't see them."
Leaked PS5 Devkit Photos Reveal New Controller
More photos of the PlayStation 5 devkit have appeared online that give a better look at the new controller design.
An office cleaner has shared photos they claim to have taken of a devkit for Sony’s next-gen console that was left overnight at their workplace (via ResetEra).
They don’t say which office they took these photos in, but presumably it belongs to a game developer working on projects for the PS5. “My first cleaning of prototype 1 of PS5,” reads the post. “Yes my job is a cleaner occasionally at U...” they add.

The Las Vegas Convention Center isn’t officially open to the public but media news coverage started pouring in before the show even began. People keeping an eye out for what to expect noticed Sony put up a CES page on its site with a curious message displayed at the top.
