Goat Simulator Developer Unveils New Game Just Die Already

Goat Simulator's designer Armin Ibrisagic and his studio DoubleMoose have announced Just Die Already, an "Old People Mayhem Sandbox Game." This "ridiculously gory and unpredictable physics-based sandbox game" will see players becoming those of the "more senior persuasion" that must compete crazy challenges to earn a spot in the "World's Nicest Retirement Home." Just Die Already can be played solo or with up to three friends, and it is set to be released on PC in Summer 2020. A demo will be released on Steam "shortly," giving those interested a chance to try out this title for themselves. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/05/21/just-die-already-announcement-trailer"] “When we started making the game, there wasn’t all this going on,” says Armin Ibrisagic, gesturing around at all the global craziness. “So it does feel a little weird introducing such a ridiculous, over-the-top sandbox game when the world is so grim at the moment. That said, maybe supergluing a rocket pack to the back of an octogenarian and sending him flying into a construction site just to see what happens is the type of escape we all need right now?” Just Die Already lets you "embrace your inner boomer" and "wreak havoc on the Millennial and Zoomer population." NPCs will even act differently to you depending on their age. You are also able to pick up and interact with a wide variety of objects, including giant trouts, trampolines, firearms, jetpacks, fireworks, and much more. However, players must be careful as every part of your body can be broken...oh, and each part may also fall off. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=just-die-already-screenshots&captions=true"] Goat Simulator was released in 2014, and in our review, we said "Goat Simulator is a clever piece of interactive satire powered by hilarious ragdoll physics and its embracing of bugs." Batwoman: Ruby Rose Exit Reportedly Due to Working Hours

Batwoman lead-star Ruby Rose reportedly left the show due to her dislike of the long working hours demanded by the role. Following the surprise news of her exit from the CW show, Variety reports that multiple sources have claimed that Rose was unhappy with the long hours required as the lead on the 20-episode season. This led to friction on set, and eventually a decision by Rose and Warner Bros. Television to part ways. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/08/08/why-arrowverses-batwoman-casting-is-perfect"] This report is backed up by TVLine, who also has sources that detail the same events. “She wasn’t happy working on the show, and did that make her fun to work with? No,” said the publication’s source. “So everyone decided it would be in the best interests of the show, and for all concerned, if they parted ways.” The TVLine report also claims that Rose struggled to acclimatise to living in Vancouver, where Batwoman is filmed. Rose has previously had supporting roles in films such as John Wick: Chapter 2 and The Meg. Previous to that she starred in Netflix’s Orange is the New Black - also a TV show - but as a supporting role in nine episodes across two seasons. Being the main character in Batwoman and thus starring in most scenes of a 20-episode season is a considerable step up in working hours. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=batwoman-season-1-photos&captions=true"] Berlanti Productions, the studio behind Batwoman, intends to recast Rose for the already commissioned second season. Once again the company will be searching for a member of the LGBTQ community, as the woman behind Batwoman’s mask - Kate Kane - is a lesbian. Our review of Batwoman’s season one finale was full of praise, and so hopefully the right person will be easily found in order to propel the show into a great second season. Ubisoft Potentially Teasing Return of Delisted Scott Pilgrim Game

Ubisoft is potentially teasing the return of the infamous delisted Ubisoft Montreal Scott Pilgrim game that launched back in 2010. Last night The Academy held a rewatch of Edgar Wright's Scott Pilgrim vs. the World adaptation. Scott Pilgrim creator, Bryan Lee O'Malley tuned in for the watchalong. O'Malley tweeted during the movie that Ubisoft should "bring back the scott pilgrim game," after the Xbox Live Arcade / PlayStation Network title was delisted from both stores on December 30, 2014. At the time, it wasn't clear why the game was taken down, but it was most likely due to licensing issues. Despite not being tagged in the initial tweet, Ubisoft, which developed the game, responded to O'Malley's call with a considering emoji, (hopefully) teasing the game's potential return. The game was well received by fans of the graphic novel and was praised for its soundtrack upon release, which was composed by the American bitpop band Anamanaguchi. We reviewed Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game in 2010, calling it "really enjoyable, even if at times it can be really frustrating." We featured the game in our article featuring 9 licensed games that got it right (and 5 that didn't). Scientists Claim Evidence of Parallel Universe Where Time Runs Backward

Parallel universes are something any sci-fi fan worth their salt knows about thanks to decades of pop culture, where they have depicted everything from an evil Mr. Spock with a goatee to a Spider-Verse where Miles Morales teams with fellow web-slingers. Purported evidence of a parallel universe was put forth back in 2015 and now scientists believe they have discovered evidence of not only a neighboring parallel universe, but one where time runs backward. According to the New York Post (via The Daily Star), scientists conducting cosmic ray detection experiments in Antarctica have uncovered what they believe is evidence of a parallel universe where the laws of physics differ from our own. They reportedly detected high-energy particles rising out of Antarctica, which is contrary to how these particles are supposed to behave, since they're supposedly only able to be detected when they come down from space. "To detect a heavier particle – a tau neutrino – coming 'up' out of the Earth would imply that these particles are actually traveling backwards in time," according to the Daily Star. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/08/14/what-is-doctor-strange-2s-multiverse-of-madness"] Scientists believe such a parallel universe would be the result of the Big Bang over 13 billion years ago where not only was our universe formed but this parallel one was as well. The New Scientist breaks down the possible discovery like this:

"That strange finding was made in 2016. Since then, all sorts of suggestions rooted in known physics have been put forward to account for the perplexing signal, and all have been ruled out. What’s left is shocking in its implications. Explaining this signal requires the existence of a topsy-turvy universe created in the same big bang as our own and existing in parallel with it. In this mirror world, positive is negative, left is right and time runs backwards."

However, the team's findings aren't universally believed to be evidence of a parallel universe, let alone one where time -- to us -- runs backward. As experimental particle physicist Peter Gorham - lead author on the paper documenting the phenomenon he dubbed an "upside-down cosmic-ray shower" - conceded to The New Scientist, "Not everyone was comfortable with the hypothesis." Until there's more scientific consensus on these findings, we'll just have to stick to pop culture for our fix of parallel universes and time craziness, such as in Christopher Nolan's upcoming film Tenet. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2019/12/19/tenet-official-trailer"] What do you think about the possibility of a parallel universe where time runs backward? Take-Two Says It Will Release 93 Games Over the Next Five Years From All of Its Studios

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company for video game developers like Rockstar and 2K Games, announced that while the coming year will be light in terms of releases, it is planning to release 93 titles over the next five years, including games from across its many studios. In a call with investors today to discuss its Q4 2020 results, Take-Two shared a bit about its “strongest pipeline in its history.” While the company specifically said that the coming fiscal year, which ends in March 2021, will be “light” in terms of new games, the company is planning a massive wave of titles starting in fiscal 2022. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/11/09/what-gta-6-can-learn-from-red-dead-2"] Industry analyst Daniel Ahmad broke down the 93 titles as 63 “core experiences,” 17 “mid core games,” and 12 “casual/arcade” titles. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-ign-rockstar-game-review-ever&captions=true"] IGN learned from an anonymous source close to Rockstar Games that the next game in the Grand Theft Auto series, most likely GTA 6, is currently in early development. Take-Two announced its planned 93 titles range from casual mobile games to triple-A releases, but did not mention if the next GTA game was part of the line-up. Though five years is a wide window. In other Take-Two news, Grand Theft Auto 5 has sold 130 million units. GTA 5 is a staggering sales success and despite being on sale for the past 7 years, continues to sell thanks to the popularity of GTA Online. GTA 5 was recently offered as the Epic Games Store’s free game and it temporarily took the store offline due to demand. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt Kim is a reporter for IGN.

Kerbal Space Program 2 Delayed

Kerbal Space Program 2 has been delayed due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The Kerbal Space Program 2 development team put out a tweet on May 20 telling fans that the game has been delayed as a result of COVID-19 and will instead launch in fall 2021. The game was set to be released sometime in Take-Two Interactive's 2021 fiscal year, placing it between April 2020 and March 2021. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=kerbal-space-program-2-announcement-trailer-gallery&captions=true"] "As you all know, we've been working hard to make the best and most authentic KSP sequel possible," the developer's announcement reads. "This is an ambitious goal. We are making a big, expansive game loaded with new features, but doing so will take longer than we previously anticipated. With everything going on in the world today due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we're facing many unique challenges that require more time to safely iterate, create, test, and make KSP2 as great as it can be." This delay comes just a few months after Take-Two Interactive-owned publisher Private Division announced that the development of Kerbal Space Program 2 had been moved from previous developer Star Theory Games to a newly-formed KSP2-dedicated studio. Take-Two acquired KSP in 2017 and announced a sequel, at the time developed by Star Theory, during Gamescom 2019. The announcement goes on to say that despite the delay, fans can continue to expect updates in the form of feature videos, developer blogs, and more leading up to the game's launch in Fall 2021. The game was originally announced to be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The announcement did not mention any change of plans in that regard. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/03/27/ps5-xbox-series-x-no-delay-concerns-yet-next-gen-console-watch"] KSP2 joins a continually-growing list of games delayed as a result of COVID-19. Guilty Gear Strive was delayed to 2021 just last week. Even tabletop games like Cyberpunk Red have been delayed. While games are getting delayed, head of Xbox Phil Spencer said Microsoft isn't expecting a delay for the Xbox Series X. Sony said the PS5 will not be delayed either. Here are some ways to help others and stay safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Wesley LeBlanc is a freelance news writer and game maker for IGN.
