Crysis Remastered Coming to Consoles and PC in September

Crysis Remastered will now arrive on PC (via Epic Games Store), Xbox One and PS4 on September 18. Released digitally for £26.99 / $29.99 USD (Australian prices not available at time of writing), the release follows a delay due to mixed fan reaction to leaked footage of the game. Many have already reacted positively to the improved visuals, which you can see in the trailer below: [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/21/crysis-remastered-tech-trailer-preview"] A press release touts a number of visual additions, including: "high-quality textures up to 8K, HDR support, temporal anti-aliasing, Screen Space Directional Occlusion (SSDO), Global Illumination (SVOGI), state-of-the-art depth fields, new light settings, motion blur, parallax occlusion mapping, Screen Space Reflections and Shadows (SSR & SSS) as well as new and updated particle effects and more" On PCs with Nvidia RTX GPUs, as well as Xbox One X and PS4 Pro, the game will also feature ray tracing. This is a different Crysis Remastered to the version that launched on Nintendo Switch in July. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Joe Skrebels is IGN's Executive Editor of News. Follow him on Twitter. Fortnite Teases Marvel’s Thor for Season 4

Epic Games has teased that Thor may be coming to Fortnite as part of Season 4, while rumours swirl that the entire season may be Marvel-themed. The Fortnite account tweeted out a short clip with the god of thunder overlaid on the game's logo, as well as a release date of August 27th, 2020. A massive Marvel branding sticker appears underneath the art, suggesting that this promotion extends beyond Thor, and may incorporate more superheroes into the game as the season progresses. Earlier this week, Fortnite news account HYPEX tweeted that they had heard from a trusted source that Season 4 may be Marvel-themed, suggesting that "Thor & his hammer are gonna be cosmetics." Now that the rumour has been made official, HYPEX has teased a number of details about Season 4, claiming that it will feature a "Marvel/Thor Point of Interest," a Wolverine skin and comic book pages for players to collect, hidden throughout the Fortnite map. Back in July, Square Enix revealed a Marvel's Avengers x Fortnite crossover, which offered a pickaxe cosmetic resembling Hulk's smashing hands to player who finished a set of challenges in the Marvel's Avengers beta. It's not clear yet whether this is wrapped up with the wider Marvel promotion, but we'll be sure to hear more when the Season 4 launch date arrives. Justice League: Snyder Cut Will Omit Superman Line Because It ‘Makes No Sense’

Zack Snyder has confirmed that his cut of Justice League has omitted one specific Superman line from Joss Whedon's 2017 movie because it "literally makes no sense." Screen Rant picked up on an exchange between Snyder and a fan who posted a question to the director on Vero, quizzing whether Superman asks Batman if he bleeds in his cut of Justice League. In the theatrical release, this line of dialogue is delivered during a confrontation between the Man of Steel and the Caped Crusader, in which Superman utters the line "Do you bleed?" while gripping Batman's face. Despite being a callback to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Snyder apparently wasn't a fan of the line reappearing in the Justice League script, as he confirmed that it has been cut from his version of the movie because it "literally makes no sense." Twitter user Charlie_ZSJL screenshotted the interaction and posted it on social media for fans to share and discuss. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/07/21/justice-league-snyder-cut-is-separate-from-the-dceu-ign-news"] Snyder has been sharing teasers of his Justice League ahead of DC FanDome, a two-part event that officially launches online on Saturday, August 22. On Thursday, the filmmaker shared video footage from his HBO Max version of the superhero movie on his Vero account, offering fans a 20-second look at his cut prior to the movie's official panel at the virtual convention this weekend. Snyder's Justice League panel is scheduled to start at 2:30 pm PDT/5:30 pm ET on Saturday. Other highly-anticipated panels include Wonder Woman 1984, The Suicide Squad, Black Adam, Aquaman, Shazam! and The Batman, which will run alongside exclusive world premieres, behind-the-scenes looks at worlds and characters from the DC Universe, plus, fan-curated content, and much, much more. Black Myth: Wukong Developer Responds to Huge Popularity of First Trailer

Before August 20, Game Science's Black Myth: Wukong was a practically unknown project. 24 hours later, it was IGN's biggest news story of the day, had garnered over 10 million views on Chinese video site BiliBili alone, and was earning praise from across the Internet. Game Science founder Feng Ji has now responded to the huge, sudden popularity of the game, said the team will now "hide" to continue development, and apologised for problems that made it into the pre-alpha gameplay. Writing on Weibo and translated by ResetEra member Nightengale (and confirmed by IGN), the developer explained that the 13 minutes of gameplay used to introduce the game - which you can watch below - were released to be "honest" about the game, as well as help attract more potential employees to join his company. He adds that the team has been happy with the explosive popularity of the trailer, but makes clear that they won't let it get to their heads, and even asked viewers to "forget" the footage, as it doesn't represent their best work. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/20/black-myth-wukong-official-13-minutes-gameplay-trailer"] In fact, Feng Ji spends most of his post pointing out what was wrong in the trailer, from the low frame rate in the scene where Wukong takes on a crowd of heavenly warriors, to how the water shown in the game displays no physical properties. He also apologises for the soundtrack not quite matching up with the action. He closes the post by saying that the team will now "hide again" to continue development, meaning we're unlikely to see much more gameplay in the near future. While the game's sudden legion of fans will likely be sad to hear that there won't be more to feast their eyes on, it's heartening to hear that the team's been emboldened to continue work on Black Myth - here's hoping it doesn't take too long to reach us. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=black-myth-wukong-11-screenshots&captions=true"] In the initial announcement of the game, Game Science said Black Myth was aiming for mainstream consoles, PC, and cloud services, but no release date was hinted at, nor whetehr there are plans for a western release. "It shouldn't take 500 years" said an FAQ about a potential release window, but it will only be released when it's ready. You Might Be the Best Fall Guys Player in the World, But Not Know About It

Update: Unless you're streamer DrLupo, we're sad to report that you are not the best Fall Guys player in the world. If you are DrLupo, congratulations! The popular streamer logged in today to find that he had mysteriously earned a Portal-themed costume, and the Fall Guys Twitter account confirmed that this was the reward for being, statistically, the best player in the game so far. Here's the moment he realised: [poilib element="accentDivider"] The best Fall Guys player in the world is yet to reveal themselves after being stealthily granted a special outfit by the development team. The Fall Guys development team granted early access to an outfit due to be released publicly this weekend to an individual dubbed 'The Fallen One', the player who is statistically the best in the world according to Mediatonic's stats. As of writing, this venerated player is yet to reveal themselves, leading the Fall Guys Twitter account to urge players to check their inventories if they think they may be the game's best player. Close to the announcement of the #TheFallenOne competition, the Fall Guys Twitter account noted that the player was "last seen online a few hours ago," so if this promotion has you wondering whether you could be the lucky player, make sure to cross-reference your playtime and log on to check. Given how long it has taken to find the player, players have been urged to log in and check their inventories just in case. Who knows, even if you're doubting yourself as you read this right now, you could be the world's best player... In other Fall Guys news, check out our review of the game, which we scored an 8, calling it "a consistent delight." Earlier this week, brands started bidding to get a themed Fall Guys skin into the game in support of UK charity, Special Effect. The Flash Director Explains Ben Affleck’s ‘Substantial’ Batman Role

Director Andy Muschietti has opened up about Ben Affleck's return to the DC Extended Universe for The Flash, revealing that Batman will play a "very substantial part" in elevating the movie to an all-new emotional level. Speaking to Vanity Fair, Muschietti discussed the relationship between Ezra Miller's Barry Allen and Affleck's Bruce Wayne, hinting that their emotional connection would form a significant part of the scripts (which, by the way, only landed on Affleck's desk at the "end of last week.") [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/08/20/ben-affleck-will-play-batman-in-the-flash-movie-ign-now"] "He's a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie. The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck's Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven't seen before," Muschietti explained. "It's Barry's movie, it's Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that's one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That's where the Affleck Batman kicks in." Although Muschietti kept many other details under the cowl, he indicated that Affleck would be swooping into a story that'll allow him to deliver a multi-faceted performance as the caped crusader. "His Batman has a dichotomy that is very strong, which is his masculinity—because of the way he looks, and the imposing figure that he has, and his jawline —but he's also very vulnerable," Muschietti said about Affleck, who formerly played Batman in Batman v Superman and Justice League. "He knows how to deliver from the inside out, that vulnerability. He just needs a story that allows him to bring that contrast, that balance." [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/batman-year-one-the-r-rated-reboot-that-almost-was-ft-frank-miller"] Adding to the conversation, producer Barbara Muschietti revealed why Affleck agreed to sign back on as Batman, especially after announcing his exit from the role at the beginning of last year. "There have been some all sorts of stories and things he said himself about having a very hard time playing Batman, and it had been difficult for him," Muschietti reflected back on the aftermath of Affleck's departure from the role. "I think it was more about a difficult time in his life. When we approached him, he's now in a very different time in his life. He was very open to it, which was a bit of a surprise to us. It was a question mark." "We are all human and go through great times in our lives and terrible times in our lives," she added. "Right now he's in a place where he can actually enjoy being Batman. It's a pivotal role, but at the same time it's a fun part." [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=every-dceu-movie-review-score&captions=true"] Affleck is the second Batman that we know to be making an appearance in The Flash, as it was previously reported that Michael Keaton, who donned the Bat-cape in the Tim Burton movies, will also be reprising his version of the character. In the absence of a big DC presence at ComicCon@Home this year, more news about The Flash and several other DC projects is expected to be revealed at the upcoming DC FanDome virtual convention, a two-part event that officially begins on Saturday, August 22. So be sure to check out IGN's breakdown of the schedule, which includes details of the panels, how to watch, and much more.
