Secret Invasion Series Officially Announced for Disney Plus

Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige officially announced a Secret Invasion streaming series for Disney+ during Thursday's Disney investors' call. Feige confirmed that Nick Fury actor Samuel L Jackson and Captain Marvel's Ben Mendelsohn, who played Talos in the 2019 superhero film, will star. Nick Fury and Talos were last seen Spider-Man: Far From Home, where the end credits tag scene revealed that Fury was actually in a space station with other Skrulls the entire time while Talos was doubling as him. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/marvels-falcon-and-the-winter-soldier-official-trailer-1"] Secret Invasion will see Fury and Talos investigating a sect of Skrulls who’ve infiltrated the highest levels of authority in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. 2019's Captain Marvel planted the seeds for the Secret Invasion of the MCU. The Skrulls, as you will recall, are a shapeshifting race of aliens with green skin and pointy ears. They’re the villains who are at war with the Kree, another race of aliens that Captain Marvel is allied with at the start of the film. The Skrulls’ most iconic storyline in the comics is the 2008 event Secret Invasion where numerous citizens of Earth and even several superheroes are revealed to be Skrull sleeper agents who then enact their years-in-the-making plan to conquer the planet. With Captain Marvel establishing the Skrulls in the ‘90s of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it certainly opens the door for Secret Invasion to come to fruition in a later movie. In more Marvel news, the studio revealed that Doctor Strange in the Multi-verse of Madness will connect to Spider-Man 3, Falcon and the Winter Solder release date revealed, and Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau have been confirmed for Captain Marvel 2. Fantastic 4 Movie Officially in Development at Marvel

Kevin Feige has confirmed that a Fantastic 4 movie is in the works at Marvel Studios, which will be helmed by Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home director Jon Watts. "I'm happy to announce a film about one of the truly iconic Marvel families - in fact, Marvel's first family: the Fantastic Four. We're working on a feature now and it will be directed by the director of our recent Spider-Man films, Jon Watts," Feige said, dropping the news at the end of Disney's annual Investor Day presentation following a deluge of updates about new Marvel TV shows. These include an Ironheart series centered around Riri Williams (played by Dominique Thorne), a Disney+ adaptation of the Secret Wars comics storyline starring Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury and Ben Mendelsohn's Talos, and an Armor Wars adaptation starring Don Cheadle's James Rhodes, which revolves around "Tony Stark’s worst fear coming true: what happens when his tech falls into the wrong hands?" We also got a first look at the trailers for Marvel's Loki TV series and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which will be released in March. Watch those below: [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/11/marvels-loki-official-trailer"] [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2020/12/11/marvels-falcon-and-the-winter-soldier-official-trailer-1"] It was only a matter of time before Marvel began development on a Fantastic Four movie after Disney regained the rights to the characters - along with the X-Men - in its acquisition of 20th Century Fox, and fans have long speculated which of Marvel's iconic families would get the MCU treatment first. Feige didn't offer any other details of the story or cast, as the project is still in the early stages of development - hit the comments with your dream casting for the Marvel reboot of the Fantastic 4 franchise. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=marvel-cinematic-universe-every-upcoming-movie-and-tv-show&captions=true"] Feige also confirmed that the role of Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa won't be recast for Black Panther 2, that Ms. Marvel will appear in Captain Marvel 2, and that Tatiana Maslany will star as She-Hulk in the previously announced series, which will also feature Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, and Tim Roth reprising his role as the Abomination. And if that wasn't enough, Kathleen Kennedy announced two new live-action Star Wars shows, one centered around Ahsoka Tano, and another called Rangers of the New Republic, along with a new Star Wars feature film, Rogue Squadron, directed by Patty Jenkins.

Telltale Confirms No Reveals at Game Awards, So Don’t Expect The Wolf Among Us 2

Bad news for fans of The Wolf Among Us. Telltale Games has confirmed it will not be showing any new look at the sequel to its cult hit adaptation of the Fable series at 2020’s Game Awards.

Telltale posted a message on Twitter to let fans know the company plans on taking more time on the series, saying they are developing the entire season at once.

“We know you’re excited to hear more about TWUA2 [sic],” Telltale wrote. “And we look forward to telling you more when the time is right. What we can say is that we are developing the entire season at once and there is more to do before we’re ready to share what’s next for the Fabletown gang. It’s just not time yet.

Telltale also reiterated that the rights to some of the properties they previously developed games for have reverted back to their original owners, and “their fate is not currently in our hands.”

“For now, think of us as fans -- just like you!” Telltale’s statement continued. “We are a team dedicated to the Telltale legacy for narrative games, here to celebrate the classics with an eye on what’s to come. And trust us, when the time is right, we’re going to have a LOT to talk about.”

 [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=the-wolf-among-us-2-reveal-screens&captions=true"]

The Wolf Among Us 2 has had something of a tumultuous development history, to put it lightly. The sequel series has actually been announced at the Game Awards twice now -- once in 2017, which was then followed by Telltale Games being shut down in 2018 due to longrunning management issues, crunch, and creative meddling. That was then followed by Telltale Games being purchased by Malibu-based LCG Entertainment and revived as a new brand, although no creative leads or game designers from the original team have returned.

The Wolf Among Us 2 was then finally announced again at the 2019 Game Awards for consoles and an Epic Games Store PC exclusive.

Sad news for fans of gritty detective noir starring talking pigs, but the 2020 Game Awards are sure to feature some high-profile game reveals. Here’s how to watch the Game Awards today. Famous stars like Keanu Reeves, Brie Larson, Tom Holland, and others are scheduled to appear. We also know that a new Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fighter reveal is coming, plus a first look at Call of Duty: Black Ops Warzone season one, and a look at the next Dragon Age, and more. Click the link above for more info. Netflix Seemingly Working on Sonic the Hedgehog Animated Series for 2022

Netflix earlier tweeted the announcement of a Sonic the Hedgehog 3D animated series for 2022, but removed the tweet soon after. You can see a screenshot of the announcement below. It reads, "Rings? Check. Sneakers? Check. Speed? SONIC. SEGA's legendary video game icon Sonic the Hedgehog races onto Netflix in a new 3D animated series from @SEGA, @WildBrainHQ and @ManOfActionEnt premiering in 2022." sonic tweet It may well be that the announcement was meant to be made at The Game Awards later today (which you can watch live on IGN), and was removed after going live early. We've contacted Netflix for comment. Aside from Sonic creator Sega, the other companies mentioned in the tweet are children's TV media company Wild Brain (Teletubbies, Carmen Sandiego) and Man of Action Entertainment, creator of Ben 10 and Big Hero 6. It's not clear if this series would connect to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie, which will receive a sequel on April 8, 2022. We awarded the first film a 7/10 review, saying, "Sonic's first foray into live-action is a fast-paced joyride that’ll ring in entertainment for both fans and children." Batman in Future State: DC Reveals the Identity of the New Dark Knight

With DC weeks away from launching its Future State crossover event, the company is finally revealing the identity of the new Batman featured in Future State: The Next Batman. This new Dark Knight is none other than Tim Fox, the estranged son of Lucius Fox and brother of former Batwing Luke Fox. Along with that reveal, DC is debuting a new variant cover for Future State: The Next Batman #2, one which shows the new Batman unmasked for the first time. Check it out below: [caption id="attachment_245030" align="aligncenter" width="1988"]FS_BM_Cv2_var(FINAL) Art by Doug Braithwaite. (Image Credit: DC)[/caption] Tim's journey as Batman will be chronicled by 12 Years a Slave screenwriter John Ridley and Doom Patrol artist Nick Derington. While it's unclear what, if any, lasting role this future Batman will have in DC's publishing lineup after Future State ends, DC revealed Ridley will also collaborate with Thor artist Olivier Coipel on another Next Batman tale in the Batman: Black & White anthology series. That story (slated for release on February 23, 2021) will introduce Tim's superhero sidekick, implying DC does have long-term plans for the character. While not as well-known as his father and brother, Tim is a character with a long history in the Batman franchise. He first appeared in 1979's Batman #313. More recently, Tim resurfaced in Batman #101, returning to Gotham City in the aftermath of the Joker War crossover to help his father deal with the challenges of inheriting Wayne Enterprises and the Wayne family fortune. Though Future State: The Next Batman is set ten years into the future of the DC Universe, it seems the flagship Batman comic is laying the groundwork for Tim to one day become Batman. In addition to Ridley and Derington's lead story, Future State: The Next Batman will feature several recurring stories focused on other members of the Batman family fighting to liberate Gotham from the villain known as The Magistrate. Those other stories include Arkham Knights (by Paul Jenkins and Jack Herbert), Outsiders by Brandon Thomas and Sumit Kumar, Batgirls by Vita Ayala and Aneke and Gotham City Sirens by Paula Sevenbergen and Emanuela Lupacchino. While Bruce Wayne is believed by most to be dead in this futuristic setting, DC has confirmed the classic Batman will be the focal point of Future State: Dark Detective. [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=future-state-every-comic-in-dcs-massive-2021-crossover&captions=true"] Future State will run throughout January and February, as most of DC's monthly comics are temporarily replaced by a new lineup of books exploring the state of the DCU ten years in the future and beyond. While Clark Kent, Diana of Themiscyra and Bruce Wayne are still active in 2030, Future State will reveal what happens when their superhero mantles are taken up by younger heroes like Clark's son Jon, Brazilian Amazon Yara Flor and - as we've just learned, Tim Fox. After Future State wraps up in February, DC will launch a number of new comics in March 2021, including a new monthly books for Swamp Thing and Harley Quinn. Many creators involved with Future State will remain on board the books in March, suggesting that these newer characters still have a role to play despite the DC timeline reverting to the present. We're also already seeing signs Future State is inspiring future DC adaptations. Yara Flor will be the star of a new Wonder Girl series on The CW. With Luke Fox playing a major role in Batwoman, we wouldn't be surprised to see his brother appear in a future season. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Jesse is a mild-mannered staff writer for IGN. Power Rangers Meets Invincible? Exclusive Preview of Image Comics’ Radiant Black

If the prospect of a new comic book series combining the best of Power Rangers and Invincible sounds appealing, then you'll definitely want to check out Image Comics' new series Radiant Black. This new ongoing series draws on elements of both franchises for a decidedly different take on the superhero genre. IGN can exclusively reveal several new pages from Radiant Black #1. Check them out in the gallery below: [widget path="global/article/imagegallery" parameters="albumSlug=radiant-black-exclusive-preview-of-the-new-image-comics-series&captions=true"] Radiant Black is a collaboration between writer Kyle Higgins and artist Marcelo Costa, both of whom previously worked on BOOM! Studios' Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series. This new project revolves around Nathan Burnett, a struggling 30-year-old forced to move back in with his parents after a financial implosion. When Nathan discovers a powerful cosmic artifact known as the Radiant, he unlocks the key to turning his life around. Unfortunately, the Radiant's creators are anything but happy about that power being stolen by an Earthling. “I’ve loved superheroes my entire life, the narrative exploits of Spider-Man, Nightwing, Daredevil, Superman, Batman and countless others serving as equal parts wish fulfillment and a safety net," Higgins told IGN. "There’s no way I would be where I am today without superheroes. Which is what makes it so incredibly exciting to build RADIANT BLACK, a superhero for a new time, a new generation and—hopefully—a superhero who resonates for others the way that my favorite heroes resonated for me.” “It’s very hard to put into words how amazing it is, as someone who loves both superheroes and Sentai, to see the way that RADIANT BLACK has come to life," said Costa. "Even at this early stage, my email and timelines are filled with the incredible work of professionals and fans alike, who have been gracious enough to share their takes on RADIANT BLACK. I’m so excited and honored to be building a new superhero for a new generation.” Radiant Black #1 is slated to hit stores on February 10, 2021.
