Toy Story 4: The Radical Reimagining of Bo Peep

When the first images of Toy Story 4's toy box were unleashed there were plenty of new figures to focus on, but it was the return of Bo Peep that really got fans talking. Not only had it been two decades since the porcelain doll had been a part of the Pixar franchise, but she had a radical new look which saw her get rid of her classic dress and go for a rough and ready, staff-wielding style that was closer to Rey from Star Wars than a shepherdess from a classic kids nursery rhyme. On a recent trip to Pixar's San Francisco campus, the team behind the new Bo revealed that she's a key character this time around and her return is a "driving force" for everyone's favorite Sheriff.

Last seen in Toy Story 2, Bo was mostly known as a potential love interest for Woody rather than the star of her own story, but that was something the team was keen to change. In the footage that was revealed at Cinemacon there's a scene which established that in the original movies Bo had in fact been the leader of Molly's room, just like Woody was in Andy's, but viewers just hadn't witnessed it yet. Establishing that was key to the journey the pair would go on when they were eventually reunited.

Sea of Solitude Release Date Set for July 2019

It's official: Sea of Solitude is coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC via EA Origins July 5, 2019.

Originally announced back in 2016, Sea of Solitude is a story-driven adventure game centered on Kay, a young woman navigating a flooded city and her own struggles with loneliness. During her journey, Kay will encounter fantastical creatures and monsters. By getting to know their stories and solving different challenges, she aims to destroy the tainted memories plaguing the world and herself. The water elevation levels and in-game weather are all meant to reflect Kay’s emotions, so you can expect the environment to shift throughout the story.

Dauntless Surpasses 6 Million Players in First Week

Phoenix Labs has announced that Dauntless, since officially launching on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC last week, has surpassed six million players, doubling its player count since the PC Open Beta.

In addition, Dauntless' Slayers (players) have reached some impressive milestones in this short time-frame, including going on over 20 million hunts, slaying 13 million Behemoths, playing a collective 15 million hours, forging 25 million weapons, and, perhaps most importantly, petting a TON of dogs.

As for Dauntless' "One Dauntless" initiative, which allows full cross-play and cross-progressions across all platforms, Phoenix Labs has reported that 60% of all parties are in fact cross-platform parties for this first game to launch with PS4 cross-play with other platforms.

How To Fix Mortal Kombat 11’s Biggest Problems

Mortal Kombat 11 is a fantastic game. Even after reviewing it a full month ago, I still consume it daily, whether it be by watching pros play it on twitch, checking out tutorial videos (for real, watch Ketchup and Mustard’s “From Casual to Competitive” series), labbing new characters in training, or grinding my Kitana through ranked.

However, one aspect of Mortal Kombat 11 that continues to disappoint me are its customizable elements. From the Towers of Time, to the Krypt, even to unlocking gear specifically for my mains.

That feels bad! And it got me thinking, how could this have been avoided? How could Netherrealm have made the pursuit of loot a worthwhile endeavor for me? Let's dive into that.

How Nintendo Could Still Show Off Metroid Prime 4 at E3

Metroid Prime 4 was first revealed at E3 2017 at the tail end of Nintendo’s E3 presentation. A giant number “4” appeared floating through space, followed by the Metroid Prime logo next to it, and then a single line of text that said “Now in development for Nintendo Switch” in what appeared to be Arial Bold font. If it sounds like I’m embellishing the reveal a bit here, that’s probably because this is literally the only glimpse we’ve ever had of Metroid Prime 4. No release window. No gameplay footage. No concept art, environment render, or even stock pose of longtime series’ hero and planet-hopping bounty hunter Samus Aran. Just.. a logo.

In a subsequent press release, it was revealed that the game was in development in conjunction with frequent Nintendo collaborator Bandai-Namco, a studio that had previously worked with Nintendo on things like Mario Kart Arcade and the last few Super Smash Bros games. Even though we had little to run with other than speculation and the now seemingly concrete reality that we’d soon be playing a brand new Metroid Prime game at home and on the go on Nintendo Switch, excitement for the series to finally return to consoles was palpable as dozens of excited reaction videos of the logo reveal were released all over the world. A new Metroid Prime game was finally on the way and every future Nintendo Direct, live stream, and earnings call had the chance of bringing with it even more exciting news of Samus’ next big adventure.

Gorgeous Breath of the Wild-Style Exploration Game Sable Out in 2020

The lovely, combat-free exploration game Sable has been pushed back to a 2020 release, a press release from developer Shedworks announced today.

Shedworks’ Gregorious Kythreotis said Sable’s development began in 2017, and that they “started sharing the game very early on,” with an initial plan to be out sometime in 2019. He continued by saying that “the incredible reception we got meant that we very quickly got the backing of Raw Fury, and eventually Microsoft.”

Those early looks got them the support they needed, but it also meant that Sable was still a long ways off despite how much had already been shown. “We initially thought the game would take us around 2 years to develop,” Kythreotis explained. “It was an extremely rough estimate and for us to fully realise the game we want to make, we now think we need a bit more time.”

SteelSeries’ New Keyboard Allows Customizable Actuation Distances

SteelSeries has unveiled an all-new gaming keyboard called the Apex Pro at Computex 2019, and its headline feature is that you can adjust the actuation distance for the switches with just the tap of a key. It's a welcome feature as up until now most keyboard switches have been made with a fixed actuation distance (the point at which a key press becomes a digitized keystroke); either shallow for fast action, or deeper for typing and productivity. The switches, which SteelSeries calls Omnipoint, let you have the best of both worlds as you can adjust the actuation point from as shallow as 0.4mm or as deep as 3.6mm.

Apple Reintroduces the iPod Touch

Apple is officially reintroducing the iPod Touch following a four-year hiatus.

This seventh generation iPod Touch is the first released since the sixth generation model came out in 2015, and it comes fitted with tech that has been introduced in subsequent iPhone models. The new iPod Touch includes the A10 Fusion chip that runs iOS 12, which was first introduced in the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. However, it uses the same 4-inch display (1136-by-640 pixel resolution at 326ppi) used in the previous iPod Touch model. Luckily, for those who dislike using the Lightning headphone adapter, this device includes a 3.5mm headphone jack.
