Paladins Players Angry Over Updated Loot Box Progression

Paladins developer Hi-Rez Studios recently announced an updated progression system for its free-to-play hero shooter, and many players are angry over its apparent similarities to Star Wars Battlefront 2’s Star Card system, arguing it is pay-to-win.

Previously, stat-boosting cards needed to be unlocked either through randomized loot boxes called chests or by crafting specific ones. Under the reworked system, dubbed Cards Unbound, all cards are available to all players, but have also been split into levels ranging from one to five, with higher-level cards offering better bonuses.

Star Wars: All the Major New Aliens in the Modern Movies

The Star Wars galaxy is a huge place, and even after eight live-action movies, it feels as though we've barely scratched the surface when it comes to the many colorful alien races who call it home. No doubt The Last Jedi will soon add a whole new wave of distinctive creatures to the lineup.

As we gear up for the new sequel, we thought it would be fun to take a look back at some of the most memorable aliens introduced in The Force Awakens and Rogue One (and soon, The Last Jedi). Check out our guide to this diverse and motley crew below:

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters on December 15 and boasts a run-time of 150 minutes, making it the longest Star Wars film yet. It's also tracking to have an opening weekend of $200 million, which would beat out Beauty and the Beast's record for the biggest opening of 2017.

Amazon Alexa Ghost Skill Comes to Destiny 2

Amazon Alexa devices can now obtain additional functionality through the Destiny 2 Ghost Skill, allowing supported devices to connect with Destiny 2. By enabling the skill, players are able to use real-time voice commands.

The Ghost can even share lore about the universe of Destiny 2, all without even booting up the game.

A Destiny 2 Limited Edition Ghost is also coming, and when paired with an Alexa-enabled device, it will confer all the same benefits as the Ghost Skill. Both the Skill and the physical Ghost are compatible with all versions of Destiny 2. While the Ghost Skill is available now, the physical version of the Ghost releases on December 19, and is currently available for pre-order.

Opinion: Why I Felt Uncomfortable Playing The CoD WW2 Campaign

It’s very hard not to be engulfed back into the world of Call of Duty every year, especially as a lover of first person shooters. I was excited to go back to World War II and experience a new harrowing chapter set against the backdrop that we first stepped foot into when we played the first few games in the series almost 15 years ago now. However, that huge period of time away from the era has allotted me a more full knowledge of history, a chance to listen to stories about World War II from veterans still alive today as a documentarian, and even a chance to explore the history of my own grandfather, who fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Now, that’s not to say these experiences have changed the way I’ve absorbed entertainment, especially about war. Many of the great games and films I’ve played and watched today are deeply rooted in war stories, historic and modern. Some of them are brutal and real in their portrayals (The Grey Zone, Saving Private Ryan) and some of them are outlandish and caricaturistic (Inglourious Basterds, Wolfenstein).  Yet, those stories have planted their stance on war in some way or another.
