Sonic Mania Reaction Could Determine Future of 2D Sonic

The future of the 2D Sonic games may hinge on how fans respond to Sonic Mania.

In an interview with GameCentral, Sonic Team's Takashi Iizuka said they will be looking at how Sonic Mania is received when deciding where to take the series going forward.

"For Mania it's kind of like a new approach. To target specifically 2D fans. So we don't know whether it'll be accepted positively in the market," Iizuka explained. "We'll find out after the game's released, and we can figure out the direction of future titles after seeing the reaction."

Call of Duty: WW2’s Zombies Mode to Be Revealed at SDCC

Sledgehammer Games will unveiled Call of Duty: WII's new zombies mode at San Diego Comic-Con on July 20.

The official Call of Duty Twitter account teased the upcoming reveal with a creepy image (below) alongside the following message: "They’re coming. Prepare for the world reveal of

Super Mario Odyssey Won’t Have Game Over Screens

While playing through Super Mario Odyssey players will never be confronted with a Game Over Screen, regardless of how many times they fail.

Eurogamer has translated a tweet from the Japanese Super Mario Odyssey Twitter page to reveal that the new 3D Mario title won't be punishing players with a finite Game Over screen.

Platinum Possibly Teasing Switch Ports for Wii U Games

Platinum Games recently opened a new Japanese-language Twitter account - to celebrate, it's seemingly teasing fans with images that could suggest some its games released on Wii U could be coming to Nintendo Switch.

It began with a picture featuring Bayonetta in her first and second game looks. Some were quick to point out that the background colours of each image matched those of the red and blue Switch Joy-Cons:

Sons of Anarchy Spinoff to be Reshot and Recast

The pilot for the Sons of Anarchy spinoff, Mayans MC, will be reshot and recast.

Variety reports the news, but there is no word yet which actors in the cast, which currently includes JD Pardo as Ezekiel "EZ" Reyes, Edward James Olmos as EZ's father Felipe, and Richard Cabral as Johnny “El Coco” Cruz, have been replaced.

The publication also reports that Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC creator Kurt Sutter will step down as pilot director to focus on the script, with Norberto Barba stepping in as executive producer and director.

Mayans MC focuses on Reyes, "a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border" who has a thirst for retribution against the cartel.

New DC Comic Pays Tribute to Batman ’89

The latest chapter of DC's ongoing Batman comic just paid tribute to Tim Burton's 1989 Batman movie in a very cool way.

Hellboy Reboot May Find Home at Lionsgate

The upcoming Hellboy reboot, tentatively titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, may find its home at Lionsgate.

According to TheWrap, Lionsgate is in "advanced negotiations" to distribute the movie, which aims to begin filming this September.

Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen will star David Harbour (Stranger Things) as Mike Mignola's iconic comic book character, who was previously played by Ron Perlman in Guillemot del Toro's 2004 film and its sequel, Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

New Batman Director Matt Reeves Salutes Christopher Nolan

The Batman director Matt Reeves has promised "a very emotional Batman story," while paying tribute to former Batman helmer Christopher Nolan.

Speaking to Yahoo Movies on a promotional junket for his upcoming film War for the Planet of the Apes, Reeves said that he hopes to tell "a very emotional Batman story", drawing parallels between the Dark Knight and the hero of his Apes trilogy, Caesar.

"I do see a very strong parallel between

 because they’re both damaged characters who are grappling to the do the right thing in a very imperfect world," said Reeves. "A world that’s filled with all of the corruption that is human.”
