Record PS4 Units Shipped, but Sony Profits Down By Half

Despite a strong outing from the PlayStation brand, Sony’s profits are down for Q3; October 1, 2016 to December 31, 2016.

From a PlayStation perspective, things look very rosy. For the period, 9.7 million PS4 units were sold, an increase from 8.4 million for the year prior, and the best-selling three months for the console in its history. Sony plans to have shipped 60 million units by March, 2017.

Sales increased 5.2 percent year-on-year, while Operating Income for the Games & Network Services sector increased to 50 billion yen ($431 million). The reason for the increase, per Sony, is due to the lower PS4 price-point, PS4 software in-store and via the PSN, and the recent release of PlayStation VR.

DC Rebirth Vol. 1 Collections You Need to Read

With DC Comics relaunching the entire publishing line last year as part of the DC Universe Rebirth initiative, we’re now being hit with the Volume 1 collected editions for each series.

With so many to choose from, let us point out which ones are worth picking up. Generally, the DC Rebirth line as a whole has been positively received by fans and critics alike for wiping away what didn’t work about the New 52, restoring classic costumes and character relationships, and having a more heroic and hopeful outlook. So the ones on this list are our favorites that you can be sure to enjoy whether you’re a new reader or a comic vet.

Before we get to the list, we should note that each trade paperback (or graphic novel) begins with an introductory chapter meant to catch up lapsed readers and introduce new people to the mythology of each character. These are kind of like cliff notes, which are helpful, but can sometimes include weird comic book-y stuff that might not make immediate sense if you’re a newer reader. When that happens, just plow through it. We promise the good stuff starts soon after.
