Get Your Own Working Jet Pack Starting Next Year

Customers will be able to purchase their own commercially available jetpacks as soon as the second half of 2016.

According to a report by The Guardian, the jetpack will allow pilots to fly up to 30 minutes at speeds of 74 kph, or roughly 46 mph, at altitudes as high as 1 kilometer. There's even a built-in parachute for unplanned accelerations toward the ground.

All this airborne adventuring opportunity doesn't come cheap, however. The list price for the New Zealand-built Martin Jetpack is expected to be $150,000 USD. But manufacturer Martin Aircraft Company sees the machine as worth the price, especially for first-responders and other emergency personnel.

2015 Box Office Hits Record High

This year's domestic box office revenue has hit a new record high, with a whopping $5.303 billion in year-to-date sales.

According to Rentrak (via THR), this figure eclipses 2012's previous record, which raked in $5.153 billion over the same period. "We have been breaking records in almost every single month, and that's how you build a record year," Rentrak box office analyst Paul Dergarabedian said.

Thanks to a solid start at the beginning of the year with hits like American Sniper and Furious 7, 2015 has been a great year for the film industry, with the former earning $350.1 million and the later amassing $351 million in North American ticket sales.
