Nier Reincarnation: Yoko Taro’s Mobile Game Available for Pre-Registration
If you still want more Nier in your life, Square Enix and Applibot have announced the pre-registration for the mobile spinoff NieR Re[in]carnation is open today for North America and Europe.
Nier Reincarnation is a whole new mobile RPG set in the Nier universe directed by Yoko Taro and Daichi Matsukawa. Nier Reincarnation stars a Girl in White who wakes up in a realm called the Cage. This girl is aided by a ghost named Mama and two venture into this world trying to regain the girl's memories.
Check out the trailer below. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/05/11/nier-reincarnation-english-trailer"] Core members of the Nier development team including Taro, producer Yosuke Saito, and composer Keiichi Okabe are all involved in this fairly robust-looking mobile game. Given Taro's involvement in Reincarnation's development, you can expect sad, existential stories galore. Pre-registration is available on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. Those who pre-register through Android could potentially be chosen to participate in an upcoming closed beta. Square Enix and Applibot are also hosting a sign-up promotion where all players will receive 3,000 gems (this is a mobile game after all) if 300,000 people pre-register. These gems can be used on summons, which indicates there will be gacha mechanics in Nier Reincarnation. [ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/04/23/nier-replicant-ver122474487139-accolades-launch-trailer"] There's a lot of Nier to go around these days. Following the success of Nier: Automata, Square Enix recently released Nier Replicant ver. 1.22474487139, a remake of the original Nier from 2010. Nier games are lauded for their deep storytelling and dark worldbuilding and Nier Reincarnation looks to continue that tradition. Be sure to check out our Nier Replicant review here or our Nier Automata review here. [poilib element="accentDivider"] Matt T.M. Margot Robbie has revealed that she keeps "pestering" Warner Bros. to add Poison Ivy to the DCEU.
Speaking recently to Den of Geek, Robbie, who portrayed Harley Quinn in 2016's Suicide Squad and 2020's Birds of Prey, said she had been actively pushing to get another iconic DC Comics character into the DCEU, as she admitted that she is an untiring advocate of Poison Ivy being given some screen time, in part because she would love to see the antics of the mischievous duo.
"Trust me, I chew their ear off about it all the time," Robbie said, when asked if there had been any discussions about bringing Poison Ivy to the DCEU. "They must be sick of hearing it, but I'm like, 'Poison Ivy, Poison Ivy. Come on, let's do it.' I'm very keen to see a Harley-Poison Ivy relationship on screen. It'd be so fun. So I'll keep pestering them. Don't worry."
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/04/01/the-suicide-squad-official-trailer-2"]
This isn't the first time it has been suggested that Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy's relationship could be explored further. Filmmaker Cathy Yan previously said she would be interested in directing a Birds of Prey sequel that could dig deeper into their connection, saying she "would love to see Poison Ivy" make her DCEU debut alongside Robbie's maniacal villain.
If given the green light, Yan certainly wouldn't be short of source material for the dynamic duo's first live-action adventure. Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy have a long, complicated history in the DC Universe, starting out with their team-up in Batman: The Animated Series, through which they quickly established themselves as Gotham City's very own version of Thelma and Louise.
Given their immense popularity, the DC power couple were integrated into a swathe of other DC TV shows and comic book series, including a Harley Quinn solo series, written by Amanda Connor and Jimmy Palmiotti. It was across these pages that Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy's romantic relationship became official canon after it being hinted at subtextually for years.

Robbie's Harley Quinn was last featured in Birds of Prey and will be making her third movie appearance in James Gunn's The Suicide Squad this summer, on August 6. She is just one member of the movie's supervillain squad, comprising of Bloodsport, Peacemaker, Captain Boomerang, Ratcatcher 2, Savant, King Shark, Blackguard, and Javelin — though it's unclear how many of these characters will survive.

PS5 Got Nike Shoes, So Xbox Seems to Be Getting Adidas Shoes
Last week PlayStation revealed a pair of PlayStation 5 themed sneakers with Nike, and now it looks like Xbox is partnering with Adidas on its own console-themed shoes.
Complex cites "sources familiar with the upcoming collaboration" in its report, which offers a sample of an Xbox-branded Adidas shoe. The brand deal remains unannounced, but Complex says that the schedule of the collaboration will see four Xbox-themed shoes coming this year, with more potentially planned for 2022.
[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="1400"]
Reported image of work-in-progress Xbox sneakers. (Source: Complex)[/caption]
The 2021 shoes mentioned will all reportedly be variants of Adidas' popular Forum basketball silhouette. As can be seen in the image of a work-in-progress sample above, the shoe has multiple Xbox details, including a distinct logo on the side and a lattice trim around the heel reminiscent of the top vent of the Xbox Series X. Complex's report notes that the shoes will arrive "in black and green boxes with Xbox logos on them."
Sony's Paul George 5 PlayStation 5 sneakers have their own smart details, including embedded PlayStation face buttons and logos on the tongue of the shoe. In other gaming sneaker news, Marvel and Adidas collaborated back in November of 2020 to reveal a pair of Adidas shoes as part of a promotion for Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
We've also written about how sneaker culture helped predict scalping that plagued the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S launches.

No, the Gears of War Devs Aren’t Working on a Star Wars Game
After Gears of War developer The Coalition confirmed that it was working on 'multiple new projects', rumors sprung up saying the team was working on a Star Wars game. Sadly, that's not the case.
In a Reddit post by senior community manager Shaun Akerman (TC_Kilo on Reddit), he confirmed that the team at The Coalition are not working a Star Wars game, stating: "Just to clarify regarding the Star Wars thing. We are not working on any such title. We have nothing else to announce at this time."
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/01/14/how-star-wars-games-can-flourish-now-that-ea-lost-exclusivity"]
The original rumour popped up earlier this month, with GamesBeat's Jeff Grubb summarising, “Now, I've heard rumours that [there] could be a Star Wars thing from out of the Coalition. But I haven't been able to confirm that, and these are rumors are kicked around in a few different places [...] Basically I'm not putting any money on that”.
Yesterday, The Coalition confirmed it will now make the leap to developing future projects on Unreal Engine 5, and that it did indeed have multiple projects planned. That led to fan speculation that the Star Wars project was among them – but the studio stepped in to deny that early on. The Coalition has not denied the idea that the Gears-focused studio will work on new IP.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/01/13/open-world-star-wars-game-in-the-works-at-ubisoft-ign-news"]
The Star Wars games license had previously been held exclusively by EA until earlier this year, when it was announced that Ubisoft Massive is working on its own open world Star Wars game. The new Lucasfilm Games brand is now looking to partner with multiple developers for Star Wars games – but it seems The Coalition isn't yet one of them.
Lucasfilm Games isn't just Star Wars, however, with Bethesda's MachineGames working on an Indiana Jones project.

Nvidia New Mobile GPUs Brings Ray Tracing to Cheap Gaming Laptops
Budget gaming laptops are finally getting access to ray tracing and DLSS with the introduction of Nvidia’s new RTX 3050 Ti and 3050 mobile GPUs.
The new GPUs finally correct the omission of RT and Tensor cores from Nvidia's budget tier, which comprised the GTX 1050 and 1050 Ti chips last year. According to Nvidia, users can expect a two times performance boost over the previous generation and steady 60 fps gaming from machines starting at $799.
Spec-wise, the RTX 3050 Ti features 2560 CUDA cores, 1,035MHz to 1,695MHz clock speeds, 20 RT and 80 Tensor cores, while the RTX 3050 is equipped with 2048 CUDA cores, 1,057MHz to 1,740MHz clockspeeds, 16 RT and 65 Tensor cores. Both new mobile GPUs feature 4GB of video memory.
All those RT cores allow Nvidia’s new low-end GPU to support ray tracing natively. Even more importantly, thanks to the Tensor cores, these GPUs can finally run DLSS, which has proven to be a great way to hit higher framerates without sacrificing on visual fidelity.
These new 11th Gen H-series processor also bring over a boat load of new platform improvements. For the first time, Intel’s mobile platform supports 20 PCIe 4.0 lanes that offers three times the IO bandwidth. According to Intel, its new processor can access the GDDR6 memory on discrete graphics chips to enable better gaming performance and higher FPS.
Additionally, new Intel 11th Gen H-series powered gaming laptops will have DDR4-3,200MHz memory support, Thunderbolt 4, and Wi-Fi 6E.
New gaming laptops with 11th Gen H-series processor and Nvidia RTX 3050 (Ti) graphics are available now and even more models will come soon.

PSVR 2 will reportedly include a 4K display, eye tracking, haptic feedback, and more according to a newly published report.
UploadVR cites multiple "reliable sources" on the matter, who say that Sony has shared details with its partners about these PSVR 2 features.
The report suggests that the new revision of the headset could feature a "4000x2040 pixels (2000x2040 per eye)" resolution, gaze tracking and a lens separation adjustment detail, a feature that can be seen on the Valve Index headset. The 4K resolution would be a big step up from the original PlayStation VR, which featured a 960x1080 pixels per eye – and a small step up on the popular Oculus Quest 2 headset's 1832x1920 per eye.
Eye tracking within the headset will allow for foveated rendering, a technique that allows VR experiences to reduce the quality of rendering in players' peripheral vision – essentially allowing for developers to increase the quality of what players actually see.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2018/01/12/heres-our-wishlist-for-psvr-2-beyond-526-teaser"]
Another feature mentioned in the report is haptic feedback, which the report suggests could be implemented via a motor in the headset (and would complement the headset's new controllers, which also feature haptic feedback). An onboard camera would track the position of the controllers, reducing the amount of peripherals needed to make the headset work. Another small note mentioned in the report is that the headset will reportedly connect to the PlayStation 5 via a single USB-C cable.
We've contacted Sony for comment on the report.
A next-generation PlayStation VR headset was confirmed in February 2021, with Sony announcing that the device would not be launching this year. We got a closer look at the headset's controllers in March when Sony revealed that the orb-shaped peripherals would feature finger tracking, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers.
In other PlayStation VR news, a Sony patent was recently found that depicts technology that would let spectators mess with players while they are inside of virtual reality.

Resident Evil Village Has Shipped Over 3 Million Units Globally
Since its launch on May 7, Resident Evil Village has shipped over 3 million units globally.
Capcom announced the news in a press release, revealing that this newest entry available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC is off to a strong start.
[ignvideo url="https://www.ign.com/videos/2021/05/07/13-things-you-need-to-know-before-starting-re-village"]
Since 1996, cumulative shipments of Resident Evil games have exceeded 100 million and Village builds upon the success of Resident Evil 7 biohazard, which itself has shipped 8.5 million units as of December 31, 2020.
This news also follows Capcom's announcement that it has hit record-high profits for the fourth consecutive year, in big part due to the releases of both Monster Hunter Rise and the remake of Resident Evil 3.
In our Resident Evil Village review, we said that playing it "is like visiting a disturbing and deadly Disneyland, where every attraction is a house of horrors. I got just as big a thrill out of revelling in its frenzied violence as I did retracing my steps through the gradually revealed recesses of its sizable village setting to uncover the darkest story secrets of its monstrous main cast."
