Skyrim Speedrunner Finishes Story In Just Over An Hour To Set New World Record
Skyrim speedrunner Nucular has beaten his own world record for running through Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, finishing the story in just one hour and 12 minutes. All the more impressive, this speedrun was completed without relying on glitches.
As reported by PCGamer, you can check out Nucular's full speedrun on YouTube. Nucular also detailed his speedrunning strategies in the comment section of his video. For example, he plays as a High Elf because they have the highest movement speed.
According to IGN's sister site How Long to Beat, it takes 33 and a half hours to complete the main story. So Nucular's new record is significantly faster.
Skyrim is celebrating its tenth anniversary this month, and speedrunning has been a part of the game's community since the very beginning. Before its launch in November 2011, Bethesda employees held an internal competition to see who could finish the game the fastest. The winner completed the game in 2 hours, 16 minutes, and 10 seconds. So, after 10 years, Nucular was able to cut that original time almost in half with his new world record.
Speaking of the game's tenth anniversary, Bethesda recently released The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition, which includes new and existing Creation Club content.

CD Projekt Red is Scaling Back Cyberpunk 2077 Support to Work On Expansion
CD Projekt Red has been gradually shifting to new projects while continuing to support Cyberpunk 2077. The studio is also allocating more resources to work on the game's expansion.
In CD Projekt Red's Q3 earnings report, it shows that the majority of the company was still supporting Cyberpunk 2077 up until the end of September this year. Now CD Projekt is focused on Cyberpunk 2077's impending expansion along with Gwent-related projects and projects involving Spokko, another studio under the CD Projekt umbrella.
Additionally, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt are still on track for their respective Q1 and Q2 2022 releases. This new version of The Witcher 3 will also contain extra items inspired by the Netflix adaptation of the series. They were originally both supposed to release during the second half of this year but were delayed to 2022.
CD Projekt will further support Gwent with more regular updates and content drops. A detailed roadmap of 2022 releases will be presented during the Gwent Masters Season 3 finale on December 5. Spokko's augmented reality game, The Witcher: Monster Slayer, is being worked on to improve its retention and monetization, with a content update coming soon too.
CD Projekt also mentions its Vancouver branch as well as its recent acquisition of Molasses Flood, as they will be working on future projects for the company. Molasses Flood was acquired last month and the studio announced that it is working on its own brand new project based on one of CD Projekt's IPs.
Currently, it's unclear what Cyberpunk 2077's expansion will be and whether it could implement something like multiplayer. We'll just have to wait and see until next year.

Sony Seems to Be Working on a PlayStation Controller for Mobile
Sony has patented a new design that seems to suggest that the company is working on a PlayStation controller for mobile devices.
The patent (spotted by VGC) was published by Sony Interactive Entertainment's Japanese division last week with the design resembling a split version of the PlayStation 4's Dualshock controller rather than the DualSense of the PS5. In the design, the left haft and right grips of the controller are split, with the touchpad section replaced with a space for a smartphone to fit.
The controller is described as having "a left-side grip portion and a right-side grip portion" that users can position their hands around as well as a "shaft portion that can be tilted by the user, and detect the tilting direction and tilting amount of the shaft portion."
While PlayStation controllers can already be used alongside compatible Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices at present, the patent seems to suggest that the device would resemble something similar to third-party mobile controller grips such as the iPhone compatible Backbone One.
Sony's decision to seemingly take out a patent on a controller compatible with mobile devices may not come as a shock to many eagle-eyed fans of the company. Earlier this year, Sony set to expand further into the realm of smartphones as it surfaced that the company was looking to appoint a Head of Mobile.
Following news of the vacancy, the company further showed its interest in the sector via comments made by Sony Interactive Entertainment president, Jim Ryan who stated that PlayStation’s roster of first-party IPs “can transition to smartphone gaming and complement our AAA games or live service games”.
Ryan went on to say that Sony was "exploring the mobile market with some wonderful PlayStation franchises," though it wasn't clear at the time as to which of the studio's numerous IPs would be making their debut on the platform.
For more on Sony's patenting activities, make sure to check out this article detailing how the company has patented the PlayStation 5's faceplates after threatening legal action against a number of other companies for creating them.

Dwayne Johnson Says Red Notice Is Netflix’s Biggest Movie of All Time
Red Notice has become Netflix’s biggest ever movie hit, at least according to one of its stars, Dwayne Johnson.
The action flick debuted on Netflix earlier this month and has already been watched for almost 280 million hours. According to Dwayne Johnson, who stars in Red Notice as FBI agent John Hartley, that makes it a record breaker.
“Red Notice has officially become THE BIGGEST MOVIE IN THE HISTORY OF NETFLIX!!!” he confirmed via Instagram. “In under two weeks, we’ve shattered all records and we have many weeks to go.”
Red Notice stars Dwayne Johnson as Agent Hartley – an FBI profiler tasked with aiding Interpol in taking down the high-profile art thief, Nolan Booth (played by Ryan Reynolds). Soon, the pair are forced to work together in a twist on the buddy-cop dynamic – but while the buddy-heist movie has a few thrills, it largely left critics a bit cold.
IGN’s own review explains that: “Three A-listers globetrot and double-cross each other in Red Notice, a derivative action film that should be much smarter and sexier than it ends up being.” But while Red Notice currently stands at just 35% on Rotten Tomatoes, the audience score is quite different, with an astounding 92% rating.
Netflix confirmed that Red Notice has been watched for a total of 277.9 million hours since its release on November 5. That would make it one of the streaming service’s most popular movies – second only to the 2018 horror flick, Bird Box (which was viewed for 282 million hours).
Dwayne Johnson’s comments seem to suggest that Red Notice may already have passed that impressive milestone – making it the most watched movie on Netflix. However, Netflix is yet to confirm the film’s final 28 day viewing figures.

Steam Had Its Highest Concurrent Players Ever Over Thanksgiving Weekend 2021
Over Thanksgiving weekend 2021, Steam broke a new record as it reached an all-time peak of 27,384,959 concurrent players using games on its service.
SteamDB revealed that this new record for concurrent players occurred on Sunday, November 28, and this peak is just one of the many times in 2021 that Steam has accomplished this feat.
As of this writing, the top five most played games on Steam are Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, New World, Halo Infinite, and Team Fortress 2. Halo Infinite surely contributed to the cause, as it is free-to-play and has been long-awaited by many around the world. Since its launch, it has seen an all-time peak of 272,586 players on Steam alone.
Another big factor in Steam achieving this new all-time peak is that its Autumn Sale has begun, and it will offer fans big discounts on a ton of different games until December 1.
Steam's concurrent player record has been constantly on the rise for some time now, and its new 27 million milestone is 10 million more than the 17,155,417 it was in November 2019.
Steam's impressive 2021 is obviously built on the games that live in its store, and they have also shared in the platform's success this year. For example, Team Fortress 2 broke its own Steam concurrent record after 14 years in 2021, and Final Fantasy 14 did the same without releasing anything new. Of course, there are many factors beyond just being on Steam that accounted for these achievements, but it's worth applauding nonetheless.

Disney’s Encanto Secures the Thanksgiving Weekend Domestic Box Office Victory Over House of Gucci
Disney's Encanto has reigned supreme during the Thanksgiving domestic weekend box office, securing the #1 spot over Ghostbusters: Afterlife and House of Gucci with ticket sales of $40 million since Wednesday, November 24.
As reported by Variety, Encanto, Disney's latest Thanksgiving/holiday theatrical release, didn't live up to the House of Mouse's other films' holiday debuts, including 2019's Frozen at $123.7 million, 2018's Ralph Breaks the Internet at $84.6 million, and 2017's Coco at $71 million.
While Encanto's box office performance is obviously in part due to the impact of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it did manage to earn enough to make it the best opening weekend for an animated film during the pandemic. Encanto cost $120 million to produce, and it being exclusively in theaters may help it get there over its run.
Another new movie to find its way exclusively to theaters was Lady Gaga and Adam Driver's House of Gucci. Despite it not being able to surpass Ghostbusters: Afterlife's second-week earnings of $35 million since Wednesday, it earned a respectable $21.8 million in its first five days in theaters and placed third.
House of Gucci also performed better than other "films aimed at older crowds, such as Will Smith’s awards hopeful 'King Richard' ($11.3 million), Ridley Scott’s star-studded medieval drama 'The Last Duel' ($10.8 million) and David Chase’s 'Sopranos' prequel 'The Many Saints of Newark' ($7.6 million), made during their entire theatrical runs."
House of Gucci's international run will hopefully help earn back its $75 million production budget. As it stands, House of Gucci has already brought in $12.8 million in 40 international markets, bringing its global total to $34 million.
Marvel's Eternals placed fourth with $11.4 million over the Thanksgiving five-day period, and it earned enough to surpass $150 million at the domestic box offices. Globally, its total has reached $368 million.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was also new to theaters and brought in $8.8 million in its first five days, falling short of expectations and placing fifth overall. The latest Resident Evil film adaptation cost only $25 million to produce.
