He-Man, G.I. Joe Coming to Toy Soldiers: War Chest

A number of '80s action cartoon icons will be joining the fray in Toy Soldiers: War Chest this summer.

Wielding the power of Grayskull, He-Man and the heroes of Eternia will be a playable army in Ubisoft's tower defense action game, along with G.I. Joe's Duke and a group of his soldiers. Both armies will be armed with unique weapons and feature a number of abilities. Ubisoft promises two more licensed armies will be announced at a later date.

A number of original armies will be playable in Toy Soldiers as well, including the cute-but-deadly StarBright, the tough sci-fi commander Phantom and her Ghost Company, the ruthless Dark Lord, and the WWI general Kaiser.

Toy Soldiers: War Chest is a tower defense action game in which an army of toys faces off against another army in an effort to defend their toybox. It will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC sometime this summer in two editions. The Hall of Fame edition will cost $30 and include all four licensed and original armies, while the standard edition will include all four original armies, with individual licensed armies available for $5 or all four for $15. 16 Things We Learned on the Set of The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

TV show The Man From U.N.C.L.E screened from 1964 to 1968, at the height of the Cold War, and played like a small screen counterpart to James Bond’s cinema outings. The series’ smart conceit – concocted by 007 creator Ian Fleming – was to have spies from both sides of the conflict collaborate. So the West had Robert Vaughn as CIA agent Napoleon Solo, and the East had David McCallum as KGB agent Illya Kuryakin.

The show was cool and hip and lasted more than 100 episodes, but it hasn't stood the test of time as well as the aforementioned Sean Connery flicks, with the series something of a foot-note in TV history. Now however, the mismatched spies might be ready to give Bond, Bourne and the like a run for their money on the silver screen, with Guy Richie directing a big-budget version that stars Henry Cavill as Solo and Armie Hammer as Kuryakin.
