Bad Boys 3 Lining Up New Filmmaker
Sony has reportedly found the filmmaker they want to succeed Michael Bay on Bad Boys III.
The studio is said to be in "early talks" with Joe Carnahan (The Grey, Narc, Smokin' Aces, The A-Team) to do a quick rewrite of an earlier draft by David Guggenheim and also possibly direct the buddy cop sequel.
According to Deadline, "this is all moving quickly as the studio wants to have the movie for Will Smith to consider as his next slot after Suicide Squad."
50 Shades Screenwriter on Why She Won’t Watch It
You know you've had a rough time of it when you find solace in speaking to the man who gave the world serial killer Patrick Bateman.
Screenwriter Kelly Marcel recently appeared on American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis' podcast during which time she revealed the painful time she had working on the film version of Fifty Shades of Grey. (Ellis had unsuccessfully lobbied to adapt the book for the screen.) In fact, Marcel had such a lousy experience she's so far refused to see the movie.
Quicksilver Teased for X-Men: Apocalypse
Arguably the most memorable scene in X-Men: Days of Future Past, Quicksilver's comedic and artfully directed run through a kitchen full of gun-toting guards, left audiences wanting more.
Your wish is Bryan Singer's command.
The X-Men: Apocalypse director teased this image on Instagram today:
The caption under the image reads, "Just another day at the office. #Quicksilver #Xmen #XmenApocalypse"
We weren't sure if Quicksilver (played by Evan Peters in Days of Future Past) would make a return in Apocalypse, but this seems to answer that question in the best way possible.
Iron Man Is ‘Front and Center’ in All-New Marvel
Marvel has begun to shed light on what's coming after Secret Wars and what shape the "All-New, All-Different" Marvel Universe will take. Last week we learned that writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist David Marquez will be helming a relaunched Invincible Iron Man comic. While Tony Stark will still be Iron Man, he'll be given a new armor, a new supporting cast, new villains and a new status quo.
Marvel Announces New Invincible Iron Man Comic
Building on what was revealed at Special Edition NYCC this past weekend, Marvel held another "Next Big Thing" press call this afternoon that focused on the upcoming series. Both Bendis and Marquez were present, along with Executive Editor Tom Brevoort and Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso. Marvel also revealed new concept art from Marquez, which we've included in the article below.
Razer May Buy Ouya For $10 Million Dollars
Ouya is up for sale and it sounds like Razer could be interested in buying.
According to VentureBeat, a "reliable source" says that Razer is currently in talks to purchase the microconsole company for somewhere in the $10 million dollar range.
Ouya has a library of over 1,124 Android games and has been used by over 40,000 developers. At CES 2015 earlier this year, Razer revealed Forge TV, its own Android-powered microconsole, so the appeal of Ouya to Razer isn't too mysterious.
19 Awesome Details That Got Us Hype for MGS5
Yesterday, we published an expanded hands-on preview for Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain based off of 12-hours of playtime. We had a ton of fun with Kojima's latest installment of the Metal Gear series, but we're not done talking about it. We had a bunch of small left over notes over we wanted to share with you. A quick note: None of these notes spoil the story but, if you want to go into MGS5 with "your memory completely clean," please don't read this.
At one point in the first hour of the game Snake’s arm is injured. The sound was similar to the injury chime from previous Metal Gear Solid games. But rather than jump through a bunch of menus to repair the injury (ala MGS3), I could fix my arm by holding down the action button (triangle).
New Star Wars Battlefront Screenshot Shows Hoth
Electronic Arts and DICE have released a new screenshot for Star Wars Battlefront that shows off Hoth.
The Star Wars Battlefront image (seen below and unveiled on Twitter) shows rebels defending their base on the remote ice world, presumably inspired by the Battle of Hoth in Star Wars: Episode V -- The Empire Strikes Back. Hoth is one of the four planets revealed for the 12 multiplayer maps in the sci-fi shooter, alongside Sullust, Endor and Tatooine.
Tomorrowland: Disney’s Biggest Flop Since Lone Ranger
It's a good thing they own the money-printing machines known as Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and Pixar because Disney reportedly stands to lose a fortune on Tomorrowland.
The Brad Bird-directed, Damon Lindelof-produced sci-fi adventure film starring George Clooney stands to lose between $120-$140 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter. That would make it the studio's biggest write-down since 2013's The Lone Ranger, which lost Disney a reported $190 million.
THR says Tomorrowland cost $180 million to produce and at least $150 million to market. Tomorrowland has earned roughly $171 million worldwide so far, with $77.3 million of it coming from North American ticket sales. It finished in seventh place at the domestic box office last weekend.
