Konami Announces New 3-Year Deal With UEFA

Konami has secured a new three-year deal with UEFA to "retain exclusive rights to Europe's greatest club football competitions" for forthcoming Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) titles.

Continuation of the original agreement, signed in 2009, permits Konami to use "all iconography and presentation elements associated  with the competitions".

It also permits PES to feature UEFA's Super Cup, the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League club competitions as both individual modes or "within the larger season overview upon qualification".

“In the past six years we have worked closely with UEFA creating the PES Virtual UEFA Champions League as a global online version of the real thing, and this year’s UEFA Champions League final in Berlin played host to the climax of the 2015 PES season as the 25 best players from all over the globe gathered to determine the winner," said Sean Ratcliffe, European Brand Director at Konami.

Threes! Gets a Free Version on iOS and Google Play

A free version of Threes! – titled Threes! Free – has come to iOS and Google Play.

The developers at Hidden Variable Studios are keen to stress that Threes! Free will feature no in-app purchases or unsolicited pop-up adverts. Instead, the team aim to monetise the free version a little differently to how many mobile games operate.

“We’ve decided to go with an ad-supported arcade system,” says creative producer Nick Ahrens. “Watch ads to stack up credits used to play. You’ll never see an ad unless you explicitly tell one to play outside of gameplay. In fact, that’s the only change to the whole game. We still don’t even bug you to rate the game randomly. If you want to remove ads you can always grab the paid version of Threes! Simple as that.”
