First Doom Gameplay is Incredibly Gory

At their E3 showcase, Bethesda showed the very first public gameplay footage of their new Doom title.

The demo opens with the iconic space marine donning his helmet. From the looks of it, this is the same footage shown to attendees at last year's Quakeon, though it looks more polished here. Read our full rundown of the QuakeCon 2014 Doom demo here.

Watch the first bloody, brutal Doom gameplay

Gameplay looks far more reminiscent of old school Doom, with fast, pitched firefights against groups of multiple enemies at once, as opposed to the smaller, horror inspired encounters of Doom 3. Groups can warp in just about anywhere, keeping players on their toes constantly, just as the original Doom games on PC did.

New Ghostbusters Merch Will Include Girl-Centric Toys

Disney and Marvel learned the hard way not to shortchange their female heroes on the merchandise front. However, that won't be the case for Sony and Ghostbusters, according to Greg Economos, Senior Vice President of the studio's Global Consumer Products.

Earlier this year, we learned that director Paul Feig's upcoming Ghostbusters redo would feature an all-female cast including Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong. "While

Blast Ball Revealed During Nintendo World Championships

During the 2015 World Championships, Nintendo revealed a 3DS game called Blast Ball, which bears a striking resemblance to the 2006 DS game Metroid Prime Hunters.

Swipe on mobile to check out more images in the slideshow above.

The first-person multiplayer game showed off a 3v3 match where each player hopped into a mech suit and shot at a giant ball, trying to score into their opponent's goal. You can attack other mechs, charge up your shot for a stronger attack, and jump in the way of the ball and sacrifice yourself to prevent the other team from scoring. The HUD, field of view, and gun placement all mirrored what we've seen since the original Metroid Prime.

The Batman Beyond Movie That Never Was

Earlier this week, I got a chance to speak with filmmaker Boaz Yakin (Remember the Titans) about his upcoming movie Max, and also asked him a few question about the live-action Batman Beyond movie -- a project he was briefly attached to direct before it died in development at Warner Bros. in the lead-up up to Batman Begins.

"I had just made Remember the Titans," he told me, "and my inclination is to always go off a trend: make an independent film after I make a studio film. I spoke to my agent, and he said, 'I think you need to do another studio movie before you do that.' I was just basically like, 'Well, if I'm going to do a studio movie, like, I want it to be Batman' -- which at the time I just meant, if I'm going to do a studio movie, I want it to be a big ol' thing."
