New Dungeons & Dragons Film Moving Forward

Warner Bros., Hasbro and Sweetpea Entertainment have announced a new Dungeons & Dragons film is in the works, now that the companies have settled a years-long legal dispute over who held the screen rights.

Back in 2013, Hasbro was working with Universal on a new Dungeons & Dragons movie, while Warner Bros. and Sweetpea developed their own film. Hasbro then sued Sweetpea over rights to make a new film, but the companies have now compromised in an undisclosed arrangement and are proceeding forward with this project.

Developers Getting HoloLens ‘Within the Next Year’

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has said that the "V1" developer version of its HoloLens VR headset will be released "within the next year."

In an interview with BBC, Nadella said V1 will cater "more around developers and enterprises." Though no timeline was given for when a consumer version will be available, this timeline indicates it could be quite some time.

EA Teases New Star Wars: Battlefront News for Gamescom

A new mode for Star Wars Battlefront may feature a squadron of X-Wing fighters.

Electronic Arts has released a brief trailer for their large-scale multiplayer battle game, during which they teased the new mode with a squadron of X-Wing fighters taking to the skies in the last few seconds of the video.

This news was teased on Saturday via the official EA Star Wars Facebook page, with a photo of an X-Wing fighter and the words "Prepare for Take Off."

Ex-Blizzard CCO: ‘MMO’ Has Become a Dirty Term

Ex-Blizzard CCO Rob Pardo has noticed a lot of persistent world online games avoid using the descriptive term "MMO," and he has a theory as to why.

According to Pardo, use of the term "MMO" or "massively multiplayer online game" is a loaded description that ultimately leads games to be compared with traditional MMOs like World of Warcraft.

“What you’re starting to see now is people are creating persistent world games with lots of players,” he told Develop. “But different types of games and different types of gameplay, rather than trying to create the same type of game as World of Warcraft.

Invincible Iron Man ‘Sister Title’ Confirmed

Marvel Comic Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso has confirmed a Brian Michael Bendis-written sister title to the upcoming Invincible Iron Man.

"Brian and David

are playing the long game with Invincible Iron Man," Alonso told Comic Book Resources. "When Brian pitched us, he said there was an idea for a sister-title that would spin out of the first germinating in his brain."

Originally teased by Bendis last week on Twitter, the writer alluded that the project would involve Tony Stark. Alonso didn't reveal a central character, but he did note that the ending of of Invincible Iron Man #1 will help fill in some gaps.

Our IGN First Game for August Is…Scalebound

Scalebound, an Xbox One exclusive from renowned action game developer Platinum Games (Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Vanquish, etc.), was revealed at E3 2014. Absolutely nothing has been seen or heard from it since. That all changes this month with IGN First, where we'll be covering the game in-depth throughout August. Our team went to Platinum in Japan and will be bringing you approximately a dozen exclusive features and videos over the next four weeks.

We'll be kicking things off tomorrow morning at approximately 8am PT/11am ET, or as soon as the Microsoft press briefing ends. At that point, we will post our first piece of IGN First content for Scalebound: an extended gameplay demo that's much longer than the one you'll see during the Xbox briefing. You can also expect:

Vega Revealed for Street Fighter 5

Capcom has revealed Vega is the latest character for Street Fighter V.

This will be unsurprising to many, since Vega has been a mainstay in the series since Street Fighter II. However he is returning with a "brand new look and new tricks up his frilly sleeves" according to the post on the PS Blog.

He now has two fighting modes, with claw and without claw. After sheathing his claw during battle, Vega gains new moves and new attack properties. The ability to change between the two modes creates new combo possibilities as well.
