How Daredevil Shaped Marvel’s Modern Era

With the "All-New, All-Different Marvel" relaunch barely a month away, Marvel is bringing a number of ongoing series to a close. One of those is Mark Waid's Daredevil, a story that has unfolded, in one form or another, for the past four years. It's a bittersweet time to be a Daredevil fan. Not simply because the comic was consistently one of Marvel's best, but because Waid's Daredevil played such a huge role in shaping the tone and direction of the Marvel Universe over the past several years.

Daredevil #18 Review

Flashing back to late summer 2011, neither Marvel nor DC were doing so hot. Comic book sales were at their lowest point in years. Marvel's big summer crossover, Fear Itself, wasn't exactly a Civil War or House of M-level hit. DC was making final preparations to torpedo their universe and usher in the New 52. In a time when so much about the comics industry and its future seemed uncertain, Marvel quietly launched a new series starring the Man Without Fear. Chris Evans apparently has no desire to hand over his vibranium shield, as the Captain America actor has made it perfectly clear he's more than willing to extend his contract with Marvel Studios.

"Listen, if Marvel wants me they got me," he told Collider. "I’ve never had such a relationship where you have such -- I mean look at my resume, I’m used to being on set being like, ‘Ah is this movie gonna be terrible?’

"Marvel just can’t stop making great movies, they do it in their sleep. It’s wonderful directors and producers and actors and scripts, and it’s like a playground as an actor."

The 7 Best Xbox One Headsets

Last year we looked at some of the best gaming headsets available on the Xbox One. Our top pick, at the time, was the Plantronics Rig Flex LX. Since then though, a number of new headsets have entered the market including the updated SteelSeries Wireless line, as well as new sets from Kingston, Polk Audio and Astro.

At $130 MSRP, the Plantronics Rig Flex LX is on the pricier side for a stereo wired headset, but it managed to snag our top spot in our previous round-up due to its combination of comfort, excellent chat quality, and clean, well-balanced audio. You can wear this headset for hours, which you’ll want to do: even on the most bass-heavy EQ setting, lows are nice and punchy without overwhelming the mids and highs, and it’s very easy to hear both small audio details and what direction they’re coming from.
