A Closer Look at the Pokémon GO Plus
Pokémon GO is an upcoming augmented reality game for iPhone and Android that will let you find, catch, and battle Pokémon out in the real world. This all comes together with the help of a Bluetooth wristband called the Pokémon GO Plus, which NintendoTweet has provided several images of.
Check them out in the slideshow below or NintendoTweet's Twitter.
The Pokémon GO Plus connects to your smartphone via Bluetooth and lets you perform basic commands in-game, like catching Pokémon, at the press of a button. It also notifies players of nearby Pokémon and other events by flashing and vibrating. The device itself is created and manufactured by Nintendo.
Shigeru Miyamoto Says Super Mario Bros. 3 Was a Play
If you ever thought Super Mario Bros. 3 was just a play, especially considering the game opening's red curtains, then you were correct, according to Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto.
The Mario and Zelda creator answered a handful of intriguing questions about the Super Mario Bros. franchise with Nintendo UK to promote Super Mario Maker. One of the biggest myths that he confirmed was Super Mario Bros. 3 being a performance.
People have theorized in the past that Super Mario Bros. 3 was a play because of the shadows on the skyline, platforms hanging from the roof and other small details. Miyamoto has now proven that hypothesis.
Chewbacca’s Solo Comic Is a Star Wars Western
With everyone's favorite Wookie, Chewbacca, kicking off a five-issue solo mini-series in October from Marvel Comics, we sat down with artist Phil Noto to talk about telling a story featuring a big walking carpet.
Taking place during the same time frame as most of Marvel's other Star Wars comics -- between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back -- the comic will be written by Gerry Duggan (Deadpool) and will see Chewbacca out on an adventure without his best bud Han Solo. You might be asking yourself how a being that has a vocabulary even smaller than Groot's can be the star of his own story, but Noto assures that that won't be a problem with the way they're telling the story.
In addition to Chewbacca, Noto also did the cover for Star Wars: Shattered Empire #1, depicting an Ewok party with smiles all around. That comic takes place between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, and you'll be surprised to hear that Noto didn't even know what he was drawing the cover for when he got the assignment.
New PS4 Game Is ‘An Interactive Biography About a Dead Astronaut’
Laserlife, an "existential rhythm action game" about a dead astronaut, finally has a PS4 release date.
First announced at IndieCade in 2010, it's coming out on PS4 on September 22.
It's being developed by Choice Provisions, formerly known as Gaijin Games, the developers of the Bit.Trip series. "Laserlife is an experience that's meant to be played through in one sitting," says project lead Alex Neuse on the PS Blog. It's a rhythm/music game, and is an "exploration, largely through symbolism, of what it means to be a human."
We also learned today that Flame Over will be coming to PS4 this month.
