The Celebrities of Assassin’s Creed Syndicate

“I think what’s important about the historical characters in this game and this era is that not only does this time have really new inventions and weird facial hair and cool hats, but there’s also a lot of eccentric people with big personalities. This era introduces the concept that we know of today as being a celebrity.”

These words from Mel MacCoubrey, the Assistant Director of Narrative Design at Ubisoft Quebec, seem to perfectly encapsulate the tone of the folks who populate the world Assassin’s Creed Syndicate’s London. As Jacob and Evie set forth to liberate the seven Boroughs from the tight grasp of the Templar, they’re going to come across a motley crew recognizable figures who helped shape not only Victorian London, but the modern world as we know it. Secret Wars #5 Sells Big in August

Secret Wars #5 was the best-selling comic book in August, according to Diamond Comics' sales figures. The continued success of both the Secret Wars crossover and their various Star Wars comics helped Marvel claim seven of the ten slots on the top ten best-selling comics list, though they faced renewed competition from perennial favorites like Batman and The Walking Dead.

The sales figures revealed a couple other interesting trends. Amazing Spider-Man: renew Your Vows appears to be the most successful of the many Secret Wars tie-ins. Is that merely due to the enduring popularity of Dan Slott's Amazing Spider-Man series, or does it indicate a demand for more stories featuring a married Peter Parker? Also, while it didn't quite crack the top ten, DC Bombshells #1 sold unusually well (ranking at #18) for a reprint of a digital-first series.
